This trunk needs cleaning or restoration but overall is in good condition with beautiful wood and most of the original hardware, bindings, etc. The contrast between the wood and the hardware/bindings on this Antique Compartment Steamer Trunk is striking, it would be even nicer once cleaned up! This trunk measures 34 x 19.5 x 24 and the interior does have compartments although the interior also has significant wear/damage. 1930's Antique Wardrobe Steamer Trunk - Local Pickup
Charming old wardrobe trunk available to add to your collection of antiques! Since it is super heavy. Local Pickup only. What's so cool about this wardrobe trunk is that it has features that so many of the other wardrobes you see don't have or they're missing! Also. It was restored approximately 20 years ago and is still in good condition. You may want to repaint or reline the trunk to make it your own, but you don't have to worry about a bunch of repairs because they were already done. For example, the metal trim was not brass and so it was painted. It could easily be repainted to suit your needs. As for the unique, original features, the trunk includes: a wooden ironing board, metal bracket for iron, a pull out holder for the ironing board, 6 wooden hangers- one of which holds a cloth laundry bag, a removeable wooden box(holds ... moreshoes.lap desk? and 4 drawers- among other features. It's missing the outside lock and original leather handle(handle was replaced with a strong leather buckled handle) The key to the inside lock, the narrow flat bar that slides in front of the drawers, and some material behind the drawers. Some of the material is faded. The hinges and drawer pulls are secure and in functional condition except one outside latch(this doesn't prevent the trunk from closing tightly. The metal rods that hold the hangers extend out to hold the ironing board and are easy to slide in/out. All the drawers are lined with material and are in good/clean condition. The top drawer is divided into three compartments and is in good condition. The two middle drawers are in good condition too. The bottom drawer is deep and has a shallow pull out tray which exposes a cool feature. The feature is a sphere shaped cloth form that straps to the side of the drawer with leather. The original leather is still in place and functional. But somewhat brittle. My guess is that a hat could be pinned to the form to keep it safe for travel. Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. Leather Straps and 2 Keys My husband and I have refinished over 120 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice decorative refinished flat top steamer trunk. The particular d imensions for this are 36 1/2" length. 21 1/2" width and 24" heig ht. The size of this trunk will make a great coffee table. This particular trunk is pine with oak or ash slat boards. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and a little on the inside due ... moreto the rough cut wood that the inside was made out of. We didn't want to alter that finish too much. We then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. One of the stress cracks is on the top. If you notice it in the picture. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Along with the lock we attached two new Amish made black leather handle straps and buckles to help the lid stay securely shut when wanted. This is a very old antique steamer trunk with tray and with the original paper lithographs affixed to the inside of the dome lid. The large lithograph in the center shows an old man and woman sitting having tea with the old man appearing to be threading a needle. The smaller round lithos on each side of the paper shows a man carrying a trunk on his back and shoulders while a woman in the background appears to drop her luggage. The artists signature on the large litho is lower left and is very hard to read but may read"Lexington" The smaller round lithos do not appear to be signed. The paper does show tears. 19th Century French Goyard Wicker Steamer Trunk
All original. Immaculate condition, wicker antique Goyard steamer trunk. Wicker skeleton is strong and sturdy, nothing broken or cracked. Gum coated canvas exterior is in perfect condition, edges covered in leather still soft not brittle and dried out. Beautiful brass lock and brass bosses. Decorative wooden slats adorned with brass fasteners. Main leather straps still soft and plyable(one has a small repaired area) Smaller leather straps are brittle but replacable. Heavy duty leather handles are in great shape. The leather lock cover(stamped with the Goyard name) is very nice. Interiror has two trays, everything is covered in fine European linen, with decorative silk ribbons and brass tacks. Inside the top of the trunk is the signature Goyard label, numbered 9901 The original travel canvas cover is with the trunk with several shipping labels ... moreattached. One of the labels is from the German liner TS Bremen which later became Hitler's flag ship. The canvas cover is very fragile and needs alot of repair, but it is all there. This is a wonderful piece of history from one of the top(if not the top) trunk makers in the world. The trunk is rare because of the light weight wicker frame. most were crushed by heavier trunks. 1870-1900 Victorian Antique Steamer Trunk or Chest, of the "Titanic" Era
This is a well preserved. Collector-quality antique chest with a rounded top. A photograph aboard the Titanic shows a trunk very similar to this one. The well-known"Titanic" which sank on its first voyage. Though thought to be unsinkable. Read about the"Unsinkable Molly Brown" saved alive from that ship. Steamer trunks" were standard luggage for traveling aboard ship in those days. Nothing is missing on this trunk except the key to the lock! Helpful for someone interested in restoring it. Even the antique leather handles( 150 plus years old) are strong and intact! and were used to lift the empty trunk for its recent journey from its purchase point. View the photographs of each of the thick leather handles. Recently purchased from an estate sale in Southern California. For its age, this"treasured" chest is ... morein truly in excellent shape. The trunk opens and closes work as should. There is no warping. No"musty" smell. This trunk is as is. With all of the interest and beauty of its aged condition. On the edges where the lid and the lower portion of the trunk meet. The flower-embossed tin sheet metal shows the patina's original condition, a golden copper sheen. The sturdy sheet metal on the very bottom of the trunk is plain un-embossed sheet metal. Black in color with wooden slats. In a"grease pencil or crayon" on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats appears"32 x 84" The bottom of the trunk shows evidence of wheels once attached in each of the four corners of the trunk. No labels have yet been discovered in the trunk which would reveal more about its origins. There is some writing on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats indicating"32 x 84" This trunk or chest is better than average condition from what I've seen on eBay. The trunk itself is in very good structural condition. In fact, one of the leather handles is still present(and in good condition) and the rollers on the bottom of this chest still roll! This chest has all its original wooden slats and metal trim. The interior of this chest is also in very good condition. I am amazed at how well the removable upper compartment has held up and the interior wood looks real nice. Vintage steamer trunk Circa 1915.any insight would be appreciated Louis Vuitton Measures: 40" x 24" x 28" This trunk spent most of its life in Key West and found its way to Colorado where it has been stored for the last 20 years. The humidity from key west has lent itself to corroding the nails that hold the interior fabric and have bled into the fabric as well. There is some waving to the LV logo decor on the outside left This beautiful piece has castors/ wheels on the underside. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. The Trunk shows obvious aesthetic signs of age but these details give it the perfect patina and look. The structure of this trunk is solid and it is very functional as a coffee table, blanket chest, etc. A great piece with tons of character that will be the focal point of any room. This vintage steamer trunk is made of wood and has steel reinforced edges. It has brass plated hardware. The leather handles on the sides are gone. The inside is covered in a blue floral design paper as is the wooden insert. This trunk does not have any cracks or splits. It is 17 3/4" long, 10 1/2" wide and 10 3/4" tall. Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! I will ship this trunk via Greyhound package express to the closest Greyhound terminal of the winning bidder where it will have to be picked up. They will hold the piece for two days for free. Absolutely FANTASTIC and ONE OF A KIND Piece of Late 1800s European-American Culture. This AUTHENTIC IMMIGRANT TRUNK was brought to the USA by W H POPE. The thickly painted writing on top states: W H POPE PASSENGER TO MASSILLON OHIO USA. Northeast Ohio. Near Canton(south of Cleveland) Made of STEEL. With slightly corrugated sides, Oval Shaped, Hinged Lid. HAND MADE HASP holds the handle. And FRONT LATCH appears to be hand made, as well. And the single, LONG hinge at back. All 3 are very well done, but do not at all look like factory made pieces. Construction is STURDY. With Lapped edged on lid, Bottom and sides. Heavy enough to be STURDY and strong, but not too heavy to be unweildly. All hinges and clasps are secure and strong. Painted a dark bittersweet/mustardy-brown color. With white, but age darkened painted writing on top. Though European ... morein Origin. I do not know for sure where it originated from. The Estate Owners THOUGHT it came from Belgium or Poland. SIZE: Approx 16" across long. 12 1/2" deep. And 12 1/4" High, not counting handle. CONDITION: Very Good. Few dents. Some paint loss, not too much. We have a reproduction steamer trunk lock with 2 keys that has never been used. I bought this over 12 years ago for a steamer trunk I was going to restore for my daughter needless to say I never got around to it and the trunk is no longer in the family. It is stamped Ohio Travel Bag made in Taiwan. I do not have any mounting hardware for it just the lock and the 2 keys. It measures about 6 1/2 inches by about 3 3/4 inches at the widest point. Pre Civil War Antique, All Leather Steamer Trunk. Rare Find!!
For sale is a very rare antique steamer trunk. The trunk is very large and completely covered in brown leather. The leather has some cracks but for 150 years old. The leather is considered in good shape. There are rolling wheels on the bottom and wood slats on the top. The top also had the words"warranted sole leather" imprinted in the leather. This trunk also has possible ties to historic NY(brooklyn) politician JB Wass, who was a consultant to president Ulysses S Grant. If you search the web you can find reports sanctioned by Grant where JB Wass made recommendations on locations of illegal liquor distilleries in Brooklyn) The side of the trunk has personalized label complete with name and address. The inside of the trunk had an incredibly rare drop down compartment with a green envelope type thing attached with gold trim decoration ... moreand logo. Again you will not find a trunk like this. With a history and such an ornate design anywhere. It could use a restoration or would be a great conversation starter as it it stands now. Old steamer chest. Wood. Trimmed in metal. Lock says"STAR LOCK WORKS PHILA PA" Research says that the Star Lock Works was founded in 1836 and operated until 1926. Lock is open but locked and there is no key. Both leather handles are deteriorated and need replaced. Inside is very clean. Antique Steamer Trunk Camelback ORIGINAL 1830. Nautical, Leather/Pine.
With something this old you'll have to read the pictures to gather your own information. It's structurally sound inside and out. No rotting! The paper and artwork inside are still fully intact. It has a few dings here and there but would be an absolute simple restoration. All parts are original. There is a barely visible engraving on some of the latches that read" PAT. DEC.23.7" The leather handle strap on the left side is missing and the main latch is bent a little bit. But other than that its fully useable.
