The suite has a timber frame constructed of walnut. A gorgeous mid-brown with a lovely natural patina and mellow tone. ... moreEach piece is beautifully upholstered in an olive green cut velvet fabric with a cream ground, which is in very good condition. The timber frame is beautiful, with sweeping curved form and quality hand-carved decoration, featuring scrolls and leaves, to the top of each piece with aspects of the design repeated on the skirt. Each piece stands on carved cabriole legs, with lovely flowing form. The upholstering is a real stand-out in fabric which is virtually impossible to get these days. The suite is all fully sprung for comfort. The settee of this exquisite setting measures approximately 124cm in length and is 92cm in height to the top of the central carved feature. Antique Victorian Settee Tufted Peach All Original Great Condition
ANTIQUE VICTORIAN SETTEE PARLOUR SOFA ALL ORIGINAL GREAT CONDITION The following description is the best I can convey considering I am not an antiques expert. This piece was passed down to me by relatives so the historical origin is unknown. I cannot find any markings indicating maker or date but assume it is circa 1875-1895 considering comparable pieces I have found. It appears to be all original with tufted peach fabric. It is free of rips but could use a cleaning. There is a small stain on the upper right portion of the fabric from the front and on the upper left portion of fabric when viewed from the back. There is normal wear and some very faint staining to the seat and I have not tried to clean this piece. The hand carved wood is either walnut or mahogany with beautiful details of flowers and leaves and is in super condition. The original ... morebrass casters are on the front and it appears the back legs never had casters. The frame is sturdy and intact and the bottom shows original strapping. Springs and horsehair. The measurements are: 61 inches at widest point across. 38 inches high. 19 inches deepest cushion depth. The sofa is available for close inspection prior to purchase. 1895 Victorian marquetry settee and chair for museum or historic home
These pieces belonged to my mother's great-aunt Hettie E Longhead Tutnell who was born around 1870. Lived in New York and Pittsburgh, enjoyed china painting, and had fancy parlor furniture. My mother stored these pieces for 35 years, and I have stored them for the last 40 years. How lovely if they could be displayed somewhere! They are in perfect condition, tight joints and great finish. BUT the legs and arms are not the hefty wood of the mission style, no, these pieces want respect and distance. They are NOT practical, NOT suited for use by children, might not hold up a hefty modern American body. They are masterpieces of marquetry, and deserve to be seen. I have no place for them out in the open, so they sit in storage, awaiting a new owner. The chair has small wooden rollers at the bottom of the legs while the settee does not. The ... moresettee has a fabric-covered seat. And the chair has a needle point cover that was done in the 40's. The stuffing is probably the original horsehair. If you decide to buy these. You will have to pick them up or figure out shipping, so make your calls before you bid. There are a couple of reliable mover/shipper companies in Olympia Wa 98502(where the pieces are) who can connect you with nationwide shippers, or you can start at your end and talk to shippers about cost of shipping. The pieces are not heavy. I can see about getting shipping crates built, and padding for the pieces. Crates and padding will cost you about $50. Shipping costs will depend on where you are shipping to. I am guessing at the weight, and not sure what is going to show up in this listing about shipping costs and methods. The history of Gustavian furniture began in 1771, when the future king of Sweden, Gustav III, returned home to Sweden after an extended stay at the court of Louis XVI at Versailles. The young monarch was highly influenced by the French Neoclassical style and sought to recreate it in Sweden. The sofa measures 72.5" L x 24" D x and 35.75" H at back, 25.5" top of arm. Beautiful Needlepoint Covered Victorian Settee & Matching Chair
Up for auction is the very pretty Victorian settee and chair. Late 1800's early 1900's federal style gossip bench~vintage settee~beautiful
This is a gorgeous old gossip bench from late 1800's-early 1900's. It is a federal style with the original horse hair bottom.This beautiful settee would make a great piece in any home with a little TLC. Take a look at pictures buying as is, it does need the bottom fixed from years of use it needs to be re supported as you can see from the pictures, there are a few places on the bottom where the wood has splintered, but very little as you can see in the pictures. Also the right arm does have a few small marks on it I believe they are water marks. But this bench has great potential it would look absolutely beautiful refinished which wouldn't take much. I believe the wood is mahogany but I am not 100% sure about that, but based on the age and time period I would say is mahogany. It has very ornate beautiful detailing in the wood ... morecarving. The fabric is still in great shape if you wanted to re use it, it just needs tacked down a few places like on the seat. CUTE SETTEE This settee is super cute with a French provincial feel to it. Would be fabulous re-upholstered and the frame painted gold or cream. There are cracks to the wood from age typical for its age. But its still super sturdy. Its got a great down filled pillow. There is some staining to side which I try to show, however could easily be covered up with some pillows on this. The fabric is a creamy color and it could definitely use some updating but its still quite nice as is for its age, neutral enough to go with just about any décor. Victorian curved back settee with matching chair
Lovely settee and chair. I don't know anything about it- my mother-in-law got it for me. The color is an icy. Pastel blue that was difficult to photograph due to the reflection off the satiny material. It looks dingy in the photographs but it truly is not! It has an intricate pattern best seen in the last picture. It has obviously been reupholstered as the fabric is in very good condition with no wear or tears. The wood is dark with just a few scratches consistent with age. The chair came with it, although I cannot vouch for whether or not they are part of an original set. They appear to be. Excellent shape. Displayed in our bedroom but never used. We are moving to a more modern home where the Victorian style will not work. Smoke free home. This Settee was covered in this fabric that was custom made for Mr.A.G. Manheims home in New Orleans. Mr. Manheim owed Manheim Galleries at 409 Royal Street. The fabric was made for his drapes and several pieces of furniture in the living room of his home. There was some left over and Mr. Manheim covered this sofa that faced his World Famous Jade Room. This is an Antique Queen Anne Solid Dark Tone Wood with Red Velvet Upholstery Settee. 46 inches long. Had this looked at and was dated 1910- 1920. Wood used looks to be cherry. Upholstery was recovered in the mid 1970's with the red velvet. Settee was rarely sat in for the last 40 years. Was well taken care of and regularly cleaned. Could use new upholstery with the springs repositioned. Could also be used as shown. The wood finish at the top of the middle back of the backrest is worn(shown) Has some desired various worn finish marks throughout. I never used scratch remover on the wood. Only oil soap to clean and orange oil for shine. The rear caster wheels are missing. Only the wheels. The hardware is still attached.
