The suite features fresh replacement single panel cane-work to the sides of the arms and single panel cane work to the back. The suite boasts a lovely curved shape from the back into the sweeping scroll arms. The suite features a central floral carved mahogany shaped splat and at the corners of the couch are step-downs. Which are typical of the Art Deco period. The base of the suite features a brass-studded frame and below the suite descends onto decorative bun feet at the front and sabre legs to the rear. I am no expert so you verify. But I was told this is California made some time during or a little after the civil war. so 1860 to 1880 is my best guess. Regardless, it is very old and still in good shape. It appears to have been reupholstered at some point in time as the fabric is in good condition as well.The table appears to be different than the furniture, but goes well with the set. The rocker has a couple of loose glue joints.

Hepplewhite style curved settee bench sofa couch
I purchased this elegant settee about 10 yrs ago at the HADA antiques show in Houston. While the piece looks delicate and somewhat uncomfortable. It is neither. The frame is very solid and stiff, and the upholstered seat is spring-y and at a good height. It seats 3 people with room to spare in between, and the curved shape makes it good for conversation among the occupants. The back has a very comfortable pitch. The last pic is from some research I did into original Hepplewhite styles. And found these drawings showing the same inlay detail(left chair) and an even more elegant settee back rail design(although not curved! The natural color fabric is as I bought it. But we had an accidental champagne spill, as shown in the detail photo. I towel-washed it, but have not tried my Hoover rug/upholstery cleaner. I turned the piece over to take a ... morelook underneath: bottom lining has been ripped in a couple of places that exposed the webbing and springs- when I took decorative pillows off to turn over. I found some linear marks that I was unaware of before. I tried scraping off with my fingernail to no avail. I don't know what made them- I also found a nick in the back of one of the vertical ribs of the back. Down near the upholstery.about 3/8" x 3/8" I also noticed a"dovetail" peg in the center back rail. I have started some requests for shipping quotes. Thinking I might find a carrier for $200 or so. It has been a while since I bought a piece of furniture on eBay, and I may have underestimated the cost with current gas prices! I have an indicative estimate from uShip of $350-450 for 50-75lbs between Houston and Seattle. I can pick the piece up myself, so I have guessed that it cannot be much more than 50lbs. It sort of has an Art Nouveau look to it. The settee is about 49" wide(seat itself is 42" and 37" tall. Antique LOVESEAT 1880s Eastlake NEWLY RESTORED and UPHOLSTERED SOFA SETTEE HISTORY: The 1994 earthquake destroyed all our furniture. Much of which was antiques collected over the years. After retiring to Florida, we looked to replace some items. We found this love seat and a chair which we are also listing stored in a barn and loved the lines. We then located a retired gentleman who had many years experience in restoring antique furniture. He spent a couple of months totally restoring the wood. Then he referred us to a local upholstering company who rebuilt the seat and back and covered it with this beige velvet. Everything under the velvet is totally new as only the frame existed originally. We chose beige as the other furniture in our living room had bright colors and designs. We dressed this loveseat up with fancy pillows to match or coordinate ... morewith the other bright colors in the room. DESCRIPTION: The gentleman who restored this loveseat said that it was from the 1880s and named EASTLAKE. We went online and looked at Eastlake furniture from the 1880s and found pieces very similar to this. MEASUREMENTS ARE: Floor to highest point in middle of back 34 1/2 inches; Widest part from outside arm ends 36 inches; Arm length 21 1/2 inches from back frame to end; and seat is 21 x 33 1/2. Floor to top of padded seat is approximately 14 1/2 inches. This is very low; however. This can easily be made higher with casters. VALUATION: We research similar items for sale and try to price anything we list competitively and usually below lowest comparable. We located same category items from just under three hundred dollars which needed to be upholstered up to several thousand dollars. As we are serious about selling this beautiful loveseat to move to a smaller place. We decide to offer it for sale for $695.00 which is about what we paid to have it restored and upholstered. Wood frame seems to be maple and the construction is all firm. Lots of carved floral detail in the wood and deeply etched details on the arms. The fabric on the front is a greenish pink and beige hue No major rips or tears anywhere on the fabric but the sides do show some signs of wear and right side is missing some of the trim detail to the fabric. Rare Old Hickory Settee Adirondack Sofa Circa 1930's
This is an outstanding circa 1930's rustic Hickory Settee made by the prison inmates in the Putnamville Prison Farm in Putnamville. Indiana. The settee is made of hickory and retains the original natural finish. It has the original beautiful herringbone pattern woven willow seat. The settee is in excellent original condition. The seat is also in excellent condition except for a few very minor weavings that are missing. This piece has a wonderful old patina. It is a rare piece from our private collection. Height-33 1/2" Width-46" This piece is featured on page 89 in the State of Indiana Putnamville Indiana Furniture catalog of the 1930's. This catalog is featured in The collected Works of Indiana Hickory Furniture Makers by author Ralph Kylloe. From Mr. Kylloe's book. As mentioned earlier, the State of Indiana also had ... morea significant influence on the hickory furniture movement.The prison catalogue printed herein suggests that many of the pieces that were originally thought to have been made by the commercial companies were actually constructed by inmates at the State Farm in Putnamville. What is interested is that many of their designs demonstrate significant aesthetic appreciation and construction innovation. The special chair and rocker,gliders, leanbacks, chaise lounges, benches, and beds for example, have long been recognized as innovative contributions to the hickory furniture movement and are highly sought after by dealers and collectors. The prison started making hickory in 1929, just prior to the stock market crash. The furniture was sold to other state agencies and exhibited at many of the state parks including the Abe Martin Lodge in Brown County State Park in Nashville, Indiana. Emphasis, on the part of the prison, was never mass production of its furniture, so large quantities were not shipped from the prison. Their pieces were noted for careful construction and attention to detail.

This is a antique Chinese black lacquer profusely carved large dragon head settee(Love Seat) I was told by the Lady that I purchased this settee from that it was from the 1930's. For its age this antique is in remarkable condition. As can be seen in the 6th picture there is a small crack under the arm rest( You can't see it unless you look for it) As can be seen in the 7th picture above the leg in the back of the settee there is a small crack(Again you can't see it unless you look for it) In the 8th picture you can see that the center foot there is a scuff. The settee is sturdy and solid as a rock. The measurements are 48&1/2" Wide x 40&1/2" Tall. You will have to look long and hard to find another antique settee as nice as this. Interior designer or anyone looking for an airy and classical form for their formal living room, this is a simply outstanding find. With quite fine form, the daybed lacks the bulky and overbearing appeal that too often is associated with works of the Late Classical and Empire periods. The thin scrolling profile is distinctly Neo-Grec in form, the arms in opposing S-scrolls flanking a large scrolling back rail. The loose upholstered cushion remains in good condition with just light staining and snags, as such giving it a certain vintage appeal that is attractive to some and unacceptable to others. It is deep and comfortably stuffed with down, giving it a lasting fullness throughout. The sofa rests over sabre legs over small ball feet. ... moreProbably crafted during the late 19th Century. The piece remains in excellent condition- notwithstanding the bit of looseness in the arms(and accompanying"crookedness" visible only from the side) this is an exceptional piece for anyone seeking a formal and classical solution to a living room or sunroom. Measurements: 79" long x 20 7/8" wide x 32 1/8" high to taller side; 21" high to top of the cushion Condition Report: Small stains and snags to upholstery. Oxidized scratches to the frame. As well as other scattered abrasions and dings throughout as expected with any antique. Light chipping to right leg; rear back leg has half of the ball foot chipped off. Old crack in back leg. The arms are a bit loose when lifted upward- they are very sturdy and strong and do not require restoration when it isn't being moved, but to lift upward from either side shows wiggle. We would recommend quickly re-gluing the joints eventually, but not worrisome as is; viewed from the side, you can see a slight crookedness to the arms, but this is not noticeable when looking at the sofa more generally. I estimate that this dolls house miniature sofa or settee was made circa 1880- 1900. The condition is used and Excellent for its age. The sofa or settee has No Dents. No Cracks, No Holes and No Repairs that I can find, the sofa stands upright, the decoration and definition is very crisp, the impressed makers marks are still legible although as the sofa is a used antique it does have the obvious signs that it was hand made along with a tiny split in the front right arm rest and it has some extremely minor surface marks and wear from use, it has the patina of age that is to be expected and a good clean would enhance it greatly. Personally I think that this antique miniature table would make a superb addition to any dolls house or cabin
