Recently picked them up at an auction. The wood on these pieces is just beautiful. Probably made in the 1880s to 1890s. I think the wood type is mahogany. But may be walnut, you be the judge. The carvings and scrollings are all still intact and were nicely done. The rocker was certainly used more than the settee and shows wear on the arms to the finish. On the left side of the settee the frame has a split in it that was corrected sometime quite a while ago. There is a bolt thru the repair that was not a part of the original piece. See the pic. I picked this piece up in the condition it is in, so cannot speak to when it was reupholstered, but it was done well ... moreand with a material that is very attractive and heavy, no flimsy stuff here. The pieces are all still tightly together at the joints. The rocker still has both its' springs. The roller wheels are both on the settee's front legs. The rocker is 39.25" tall. Up for sale is an exquisite gem from the late 1800's! This piece is absolutely stunning with its walnut wood carved detailing around the back and center oval"medallion" This settee is sure to make your home look very elegant and will add so much character and charm to any room of choice. This piece seems to have an"attitude" as it is guaranteed to stand out from anything else! The upholstery work is pure perfection! It is a somewhat"rough" silky texture.
