1940ish Maddox Mahogany Secretary Desk in VG
This Maddox Secretary Desk is from the 1940's. It has been in my family since I was born. It is approximately 84 inches tall. 36 inches wide and 21 inches deep when closed. When opened the table top/desk measures 35 in. x 15 in. There is one flaw on the top left of the bottom drawer and can be seen in the fourth picture. The top section is removable and held in place with screws. Overall this Maddox Secretary desk is in very good condition. Local Pick Up Only. I am located in Olmsted Falls. OH.

Vintage Mahogany Maddox Claw Foot Secretary Desk Bookcase Chippendale Style
This is a very nice Chippendale style mahogany secretary desk. The desk is complete and is in good condition with several cosmetic flaws but great structural integrity. This desk is complete with original"Genuine Mahogany" tag(photo#3) 2 paper Maddox tags and a metal Maddox shield(photo#9) The shield reads"Maddox Colonial Reproductions Jamestown, NY. The desk is complete with claw feet(photo#5) and beautiful top decoration(photo#4) There are four large drawers in the bottom part of the desk that work perfectly. The desk is quite beautiful when you put the slant top down into writing position. The writing surface is in nice condition but does have several scratches on it. There are five small drawers across the inside of the desk that are topped by 8 letter slots(4 on each side) an open center space with a door, and two hidden ... morevertical pillar drawers(photo#6) There is some damage around the knobs of the drawers and door, particular the center drawer and door, and something stuck inside one of the letter slots(see photo#7) The glass doors on the top of the desk are in very nice condition with the only visible flaw being some imperfection(retouching? in the finish at the center of the doors(photo#8) There are three shelves behind the glass doors. The top shelf has some paper stuck on three side of the back left corner(I do not know if it can be removed or what the finish looks like underneath it) and a circular scuff mark on the back in the center(photo#10) On the lower portion of both the right and left side there is some kind of residue or damage(photo#11) I do not know exactly what it is or if it can be repaired. Finally, the curved parts that stick out above the first large drawer have some damage from moving(photo#12) This desk was in the living room of my grandparent's house from the 1950's or 1960's until we recently sold the house and moved it up to New Jersey. I think this chair was last used for sewing, perhaps in a mill somewhere. 15-1/2" wide x 19" deep x 32-1/4" high overall 18-1/2" high as it sits now. I was able to adjust it up. But when I sat on it it slipped back down. I think it was because I didn't tighten the set screw enough, but in case I'm wrong, I would add a collar or spacer to keep it at ... morethe height you want it. Decent condition. The padding doesn't have any rips or tears. There are some little tiny spots that look like white-out splatter or paint on the seat along with other cosmetic marks. There is a very small almost pinhole sized nic to the front of the seat that looks like one of those little spots. The metal parts have scratches and wear to the finish in several places as shown. All this is very normal for chairs of this age. I removed thread that was wrapped around the caster wheel hubs and oiled the chair and it now swivels and rolls around easily. Antique Circa 1890’s Oak Secretary– Secretariat with a glass front Hutch Cabinet and front drop desk. It is wonderfully Crafted using solid quarter saw oak. Its elegant hand carved ribbon and floral edging motif with a candle shelf and beveled glass mirror are an eye catcher. The cabinet is designed with five shelves; four of them are adjustable with the bottom stationary. The secretariat section is designed with a drop/ pulls down desk top. One drawer and a lower cabinet. The inside of the desk has a multi wooden slot organizer. It measures 69” high x 13 ¾” deep x 39 ¾” wide. All the doors and one drawer maintain their original locks. It is missing three of its front lock plates. The one drawer does have its original hardware. Two handles and one lock face. It maintains a warm aged oak finish. There does appear to be some ware ... moreto its finish with a few scratch marks to the one side. The other side panel does have some kind of writing on it. I believe this can be cleaned up. Antique Secretary Desk Beautiful Original Late 1800's to Early 1900's
This is a original antique secretary desk. It is a beautiful piece and in nice condition considering it's age. The original company sticker is inside the bottom drawer. It is the Udell Works company. This company built furniture in Indiana and Chicago. At different times. The company existed from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The wood grain is beautiful. It has a fold down top, two drawers, and space inside the fold down top for storage. There is a key hole lock but no key. The measurements are approximately 27-1/2 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 41 inches high. When the fold down is open for writing, it extends another 13 inches, which makes a total depth approximately 30 inches when opened. There are some stains inside the desk and one of the drawers and some fading of the wood. This beautiful antique writing desk has all original distressed wood except for the birch writing surface which has been replaced. The wood surfaces have a new sealed finish. 1800's Walnut Cylindrical Roll Top Secretary Desk With Bookcase
This is a very unique. Historic, piece possibly involved in 1906 California earthquake. It is a tall, dark walnut cylinder or barrel roll top glider desk with burled walnut. Dating from 1800-1890- time period uncertain. The bookcase is a separate piece for moving around. There are three(3) shelves that adjust on wooden supports. The bookcase measures 43 5/8 inches tall, 31 inches side to side and 12 inches front to back. The bird's eye roll top desk measures about 30 inches high(will need to remeasure to be certain) 30 inches side to side. The writing area measures 29 1/2 inches wide and 9 3/4 inches from front to cubbies, 6 inches of well worn felt(front to back) that is 23 3/4 inches across. Inside the roll top are 4 cubbies(5 inches by 5 1/2 inches) and one larger cubbie measuring 8 1/2 inches height, and 9 1/2 inches from side to ... moreside. Key holes, but keys are not available. The hardware includes square nails. More pictures available to show the detail clearer) There are three drawers with large brass and ebony wood knobs. The top drawers has two dividers. It is 4 inches top to bottom. 14 1/2 inches front to back. The dividers measure 7 1/2 inches, a larger one in the middle- 13 1/2 inches and another 7 1/2 inches. The other two drawers are both 8 1/2 inches top to bottom. It has wheels and it is in overall good condition but does show some signs of age. HISTORY There is a lot of mystery surrounding this piece and there is still research being conducted. Some clues are a Bank of America envelope with a.03$ stamp on it. A San Diego State College Envelope, postcards from Pacific Novelty Company and a collection of black and white photos with people and landscapes of China town, the San Francisco Bay area, and other picturesque scenery along the Pacific coast. The piece definitely has an unusual energy and most likely was involved in a very serious earthquake because of psychic visions.
