End frames of old school desk chair. Cast Iron. Stamped on one is: No. 2- 1& 2 R- IP37? Other is stamped: 1& 2 L- and the letter R under another 2. Each weigh approx 15 lbs. Pattern at top area of seat has flowers and what appear to be vines/stems. Both pieces are in excellent condition. The 9/16" square bolts that allow each seat to adjust- need to be broken free. Each measure roughly 28" high. 18 1/4" from outside of each foot across. Seat frame is 12" long. Seat back is 14" long, seat top is 14 1/2" across. Like New Condition Solid wooden school desk chair. We acquired this item years ago. Prior to us b uying this chair. We encountered some great pieces but found that they had lead paint and stain. Here is an original student desk from Bellflower High School in Bellflower. Ca. The high school was built in 1951& was the 2nd facility in the Excelsior Union High School District before Bellflower reorganized their school district in 1956 which included the high school. During the 1990's the high school was under going major remodeling, which included the elimination of the indoor hallways which were turned into office space or storage, the lowering of the classroom ceilings& replacing of old school furniture. At this time being a more recent Bellflower graduate with a family history of relatives that have gone to that school since the 1950's went in& saved a few pieces that were discarded. This was one of two student desk that I had rescued& for the majority of the time I had them in my apartment bedroom just across ... morethe street from the school itself. For the last 4 years it has sat on the patio at my friend's house where I live now. Which unfortunately means I need to get rid of it because there is no room in this house for it& the elements are taking its tole on it. The patio is covered but it is exposed to fog& heat& has some rust as well as the ware it had before(see pictures) I'd rate the desk in good condition considering the nearly 45 years it was used at the high school& more than 15 years that I've had it of which 4 years were kept on my friends patio. It pains me to get rid of it but I'd rather give it a good home where some one will be able to take better care of it than I can now. Antique INDUSTRIAL 1930's Children's SCHOOL DESK Wood and Steel Classroom DESK
This Antique School Desk is a wonderful piece of classroom history. Measuring 20 1/2" long and 14" wide. The desk top is made of a light wood, possibly birch. It has a spot for an inkwell and a carved indentation for a pencil. The desk top is attached to a sturdy steel cubbyhole opening which measures 19 1/2" long, 9" wide, and 5" deep and was used for storing books and school supplies. The compartment is bolted to a pair of durable steel legs. Overall, this School Desk stands 28" tall. Circa 1930's. This Antique School Desk is in good condition with some scratches and surface wear from age and rambunctious classroom use. There are scratches in the wood desk top, but it's minimal considering the hundreds of children that have sat at it. This is an awesome addition to any vintage decor! Great historical ... morepiece! Vintage School Desk inkwell Bakelite#60 is in good shape and used in school when ink& inkpens were used and little girl braids were dipped in them! It has the all important flip open& close lid. Many you find are missing it. The number 59 in a circle is on the bottom. The bottom also shows a line and a small lightning type mark. These are inside the glass and appear that it might have happened during manufacturing. The lines are definitely not cracks. In clean condition. It measures about 1 3/4" high and tapers down at the bottom so that the bottle sits in the well while the cover sits on the lip of the desk. Cap screws on& off very nicely. Buyer pays S&H. This is a wonderfully tiny student school desk; almost to the point of being a miniature; no doubt intended for the very early grades. See the comparison in the photos next to a standard table and chair. As shown in the photos. The height is 23" and is adjustable in the range of 20" to 28" The top measures 21" wide by 13" The seat is shown at 11" and is also adjustable. It is made by the Chandler Adjustable Chair and Desk Co, Boston Mass. The patent dates are 1893 and 1886. It has genuine cast iron legs(not stamped steel) which have been repainted black, the original color. The all-wooden desk portion and chair have been nicely refinished. It has the proper Bakelite No. 60 ink well. The legs and the chair base have felt pads to protect flooring. The acronym D.R.G.M. stands for Deutsches Reichsgebrauchsmuster, meaning that the design or function of an item was officially registered inside all of Germany. This registration was introduced 1891, used throughout World Wars I and II and throughout the Allied Occupation of Germany being eliminated between 1949-1952. Rare, Left Handed Oak School Desk REDUCED
Very rare. Left handed, solid oak school desk(writing surface is maple) from the early 1900's. I completely dis-assembled it, re-glued it, sanded, stained and sprayed it with two coats of satin polyurethane. Book storage racks underneath the seat. I sat in this kind of desk back in the early 40's but none of the ones in any of my classes were left handed. I just had to have it and if any of your children are left handed, you have to have it too.
