The desk boasts solid golden oak fielded panels throughout and features the original oak cup handles to the pedestal. There is an oak modesty board. With two pullout-writing slides above 4 drawers in each pedestal. The interior has 13 internal drawers and 12 internal compartments and with brass finger hooks and knobs. The desk features a secret locking mechanism when the roll-top is closed which locks all the drawers except the central drawer. The brass tambour lock and key are in working order. The desk sits on its original castors. The internal drawers are constructed of sycamore. The oak has an excellent tight grain with a golden wax finish. Antique French Roll Top Carved Desk 19th Century Beautiful
Up for auction this week is a nice 19th century French roll-top desk that I purchased from an antique furniture dealer on eBay three years ago. I must sell this desk to make space in my office for other furniture. I am not a furniture expert in an sense of the word. But can assure you this piece is late Victorian and original. The desk appears to have a burl mahogany veneer, but it is difficult for me to tell whether the wood is mahogany. I suspect it might in fact be walnut. The desk is in overall fair-good condition for its age. There are many spots where there have been nicks, dings, and scratches(all commensurate with age) and you can probably notice many of them in my photo gallery. The previous owner attempted to clumsily color in a few areas of missing wood with a modern repair'pen' There are also ink stains in one of the secretary ... moredrawers where the pens were likely stored by previous owners over the years. Nevertheless, the desk is still solid, beautiful, and functional after many, many years of service. It is a magnificent example of late victorian period furniture. The desk has its original hardware and came with a plethora of keys. The keys work and lock the cabinets in the upper gallery, but they do not seem to be able to lock the drawers in the desk proper. This desk has ample space for storage as you can hopefully see from my photographs. If you have a home or an apartment with limited space, one bit of good news is that this desk is comprised of three separate pieces for ease of transport; the large base, the roll-top, and the upper gallery/curio cabinet. The overall height of the piece is 72 inches, and the maximum width of the piece is 46 inches. Interestingly, the desk also has two leather-top side leaves on either side that extend outward another 20 inches. This desk is fully functional with a very nice leather-top writing surface that extends outward to allow a greater work space. Antique Vintage Roll Top Tambour Desk with Chair.
An older an HEAVY rolltop desk. The rough measurements are 5ft by 2/12ft by 4ft. Some chips on the corners but overall in great condition. Has a lock and key for one of the drawers and a lock for the roll top part. I dont have the key for that lock so I took it off but it comes with the desk. The Desk has seven(7) drawers. The center one with individual lock, and the others locking when the roll top is down. A variety of nooks and compartments offer storage above the desk surface. Cool Wooden Vintage Roll Top Desk In Great Condition
Condition: Is used but is in absolutely great condition like new! No scratches. No wearing of the wood, no dents, clean, roll top slides very nicely, drawers open great no jerkiness, medium size desk, and spacious enough to fit a sewing machine on it and more! The desk is 45 inches tall, 32 inches wide and 24 inches in length(measuring from side of desk) The top shelf part of the desk is 32 1/2 inches wide and 8 1/2 length. It has some issues that I consider minor but are reflected in the price. There are some scratches on the bottom of the right pedestal which need to be sanded and stained. There is also some separation on the left hand side of the desk top. All of the drawers and the roll top itself work flawlessly. The interior has cubbies with two oak drawers. This desk is in good condition for it's age. This is a circa 1950s desk designed by the late great George Nelson for the Herman Miller Company. The desk is large and in charge measuring 54" wide, 34" tall and 30" deep. The desk is has a nice work surface with slight angle down toward the front with 2 20 3/4" storage draws with compartments. There is file storage in the back behind the work surface. The whole thing is covered by the roll-top tambour wood cover that cleverly conceals the entire surface when desk is not in use, providing a beautiful cover. The top slides with some slight resistance and could probably use some waxing. The desk is ... moredusty and could use a cleaning and the wood could use treatment for some water spots and minor discoloration. There are no breaks or cracks in the wood and the mechanism is intact to move the top across and roll it back. There is some scratches to the back of the desk sides and a dent underneath(pictured) The chrome base with 4 leveling feet appears in good shape. The desk is heavy and solid. The desk is lockable when the top is closed however it does not come with the key and the lock is in the locked position so the top does not pull quite all the way down over the front due to the lock(see picture of lock) It would not be difficult to have this serviced by a lock smith and have a key made. SECRET DOOR AND CHAIR This desk was purchased for the 1905 opening of Philadelphia's Northest High School for Manual Trades at 8th and Lehigh Ave. Later. The school became Northeast High School for Boys until a new Northeast High opened in 1957. Then the building was renamed Edison High School. In 1966 I rescued this desk from the school incinerator. In 1972 I had it refurbished and used it for the next 40 years at home. The desk is 50" wide and 48" high. It has deep drawers. A working lock and a secret door on the lower right side. The roll up sticks a bit on the way up, but otherwise operates smoothly. The desk surface is a bit rough and there are definite but minor signs of age. Here is a wonderful example of Ethan Allen quality. Done in the popular Old Tavern distressed finish. It is in great shape. There is a small chunk of wood missing under the lip of the top section. It is mostly hidden and not very noticeable. It could be filled. Please see photo#5. Otherwise, there is very little sign of wear. The roll operates smoothly. The drawers also operate smoothly and have tight tovetails. The bottom left drawer has brackets for hanging files. This desk has a LOT of storage. I do not have the key. The canvas backing for the roll top is marked as follows: PIEDMONT MANF. CO. DRILLS. Piedmont Manufacturing Company was a South Carolina textile manufacturer that was in operation from about 1873 to about 1977. Please see the pictures. The desk is predominantly made of oak. The drawer backs and other structural parts are made of softer wood. There is a column of 4 drawers on the right with a wooden locking mechanism in back. The desk top with lifting panel that exposes a spring-loaded swing-up typewriter platform. And pigeon holes with 5 drawers(one labeled Coal Orders) In one drawer is a fragment of paper with 1920s dates. I don't know if that is original to the desk or not. The slightly serpintine roll top has the original working lock and the original key(a cool one- see pictures) The lifting panel lock and the drawer lock is lacking the key. The sides and back are panelled and are quite decorative if you want to have the desk stand in the middle of a room. The desk was used by my Mother for many years, it needs some repair. The height of the desk is 37 inches, 29 inches across and 18 inches deep. The chair is 15 inches to seat, 29 inches total height and 12 inches across the seat.

This locking storage box was originally made for Floppy Disks and fits them perfectly. Slotted plastic bottom implies there were once dividers. Box is a nice to size to use on a desk top for anything you want to keep people out of. See photos for appearance. Well made an in excellent condition. The roll top slides very smoothly. Some tiny dents on the sides where it has hit something, but only visible if held at a certain angle to the light. No scratches. Box measures 10.5" long. 4.75" wide and 5.5" at it's tallest point. There is a lock. But I do NOT have the key. However, the lock is located in an easily accessible location, making for a very simple replacement. Also included are its 2 original inner drawers, and it's inner 4 divider panels that create 5 individual slots for storage. The most wonderful feature of this desk is the fact that it has been fully constructed using timber pegs- a tell-tale sign of age and precision in construction. The desk is unique. With a rolling cylinder mechanism which opens to reveal a complex interior of seven small fitted stationery drawers and a generous pull-out, tooled leather slide for an extended writing surface. 1893 English roll top desk and chair. Rolls perfectly. A beautiful addition. Especially when polished! I shipped this from England in 2010. Today we are listing a rare& hard to find industrial metal roll top desk. It is an Art Metal of Jamestown NY marked desk with its original Art Metal key. The desk is very sophisticated with great design.Great lines and great attention to detail& is heavy steel with brass accents. It is better looking in person and the desk& roll are in perfect condition with bends or dents(the pics of the roll thru some optical effect look bent or odd, they are not& are straight as the day it was made) The roll top slides and works as it should and when lowered, it locks and locks all the drawers at the same time. The top section has a great old green writing surface, 2 holes/ inkwells in the middle for your ink bottles, an interior drawer and pigeon holes and a brass rack for papers or something on each side of the interior, plus about 8 ... moreclips for your old rubber stamps. Under the top section there are 2 different sized, big slide out shelves with same green material on them for your typewriter or whatever with brass ends. There is a center drawer under the top section and 3 graduated size drawers,with brass handles,down the left side.All of the drawers have their old red painted interiors. The 6 legs all end in big brass caps at the base. The exterior finish on the desk is the original old faux grained wood finish(it would be a fantastic candidate to be stripped to bare metal/ just steel with a flat clear on it)The finish has some honest wear, but is perfectly used for, the urban setting. I have a standing offer on the desk already, hence the starting and or buy it now price. Very Handsome Antique American Golden Oak S Curve Roll Top Desk with raised panels and carved drawer pulls. Circa 1890- 1910. 50" wide x 34" deep x 50 1/4" high. Knee hole 20 1/2" wide x 24 3/4" high at mid point. This desk has been completely restored at some point in the past and is fully functional. Some drawer are slightly tighter in their movements than others. But all are in working order. The top portion of the desk has twenty-eight(28) drawers and twelve(12) slots. The bottom desk section has eight(8) drawers and two pull out slides. Finish is in great condition with minimal wear and minor nicks and scratches. Some ink staining on the writing surface and right top drawer add character and authenticity to the age of the piece. Some bleaching of the wood can also be noted on the left hand bottom front desk frame. ... moreThe roll top works smoothly. The sides and back have recessed panels with no splitting or warping of the wood. The oak wood grain used in this desk is beautiful. The deep bottom desk drawers have dovetail joints as was customary around the late 1800’s. This desk was designed for easy moving.
