It doesn’t appear to have ever been used. It was sitting in the attic. The finish is dark and aged to a lovely patina. I believe the seat is original. It has a dainty carved press back, multi-turn spindles, knuckle arms, multi-turn spindles on the platform base and original castors. This is a great find for those who love original finish antiques. The overall size is 23 inches wide across the arms, 17 inches wide on the seat, 19 inches deep, 40 inches high to the chair back, 26 inches high to the arm and 16 inches high to the seat. The platform has two coil springs that allows the rocking chair top to ride on the platform base.

Hi again. look at the pictures. i do not think this has ever had a lot of children rocking on it. it is in wonderful condition for the period. i think this is not a civil war relic. but civil war in style. and certainly not new hand shaved/ carved wood. 24 inches tall. the wicker is almost perfect. there are some round head nails added to the legs. but it is mostly pegged. there are 2 faded green lines on both the seat ... moreand the back. this is an almost pristine yellow color. never left on the porch in the rain. lol. i can find no breaks or broken wicker bits that i can find. all tight anyway. it would look fabulous in the doll room. put that big teddy bear in it to guard the girls. lol maybe in the nursery. but many of these childrens chairs were made by indiana convicts. i think the richmond jail made chairs for something like 90 years. mine is not marked. my chair is in nearly new condition. but seriously handmade and near a hundred years of age. anyway. It has the look and is priced to sell. this is fresh from my last estate auction. just when i say. no ore furniture. lol) there is no reserve. Listing tonight is a great estate sale find. A splendid Solid quarter sawn oak rocking chair in great shape. It features nice simple turnings and nice lines. The top crest offers much comfort and no arms make it perfect for small spaces and wrapping a blanket over your knees on the cold winter nights. The rockers are in great shape and the seat was replaced with a hand tooled i believe leather cover with tack heads many years ago. The seat measures 17 inches off the floor and 38 inches to the top of the crest. Please ask any questions and it is too big to ship so local pickup is prefered but it can be shipped by greyhound bus. North Wind Face Rocking Chair The attention to detail in this hand carved chair back indicates the talent from a skilled craftsman and creative design from the artist. The"North Wind Face" was a popular furniture design found during the late 1800's into the early 1900's. This chair's striking red color comes from a water base mahogany dye stain which was applied into the birch wood used to construct this beautiful rocker. This chair is the top notch! There are a few raw rubs on the wood but no major scratches or chips anywhere on the chair. It will be a easy touch up job for the buyer to put a little red stain into the raw areas however we did not want to do this ourselves as we wanted to leave this as original as possible. NOTE* We are going to be upholstering the chair! We will doing a few adjustments to the seat springs/cushions ... morebut we are leaving this chair as ORIGINAL as possible. We are simply going to straiten out the seat base and upholster the seat in a clean but simple fabric just for aesthetic purposes. This is a beautiful antique hoop/sewing rocker circa 1860 that was made with low arms to accommodate the ladies with wide hoop skirts and their sewing. It is in really good shape for being 150 years old with the exception of the following 2 items. The caning in the seat has 1 very small hole(see pic) One of the pieces on one of the arms shows signs of a previous attempted repair(see pic) All other wood on the chair is in very good shape. Up for sale is a wonderful Stacey Cox chair. Made in Williamston, NC by a local cabinet maker. His father started the chair making business and Stacey continued. Notice the tall, elongated ears on the chairs and the beautifully carved splats. The seats are low and are actually the same height as in a smaller chair, pictured. The back is a total of 47 inches high; 34" above the seat. The seat is 16" from the floor(measured from an inclined position) 15" deep, 19" across. The rockers are 28" long. Antique Rare Vintage 1800's Hand Made With Wooden Peg joints Early Colonial Style Rocking Chair You just do not find early hand made rocking chairs like this anymore. This is a hand made rocking chair with the early use of pegs instead of later chairs which used nails. Screws and other types of later day hardware to assemble. The beauty of this rocking chair is in its lines and its simplicity. Made in an early American Colonial style this is the type of solid wood rocking chair you would expect to see on a wagon train coming from the East traveling Westward. While it is impossible to exactly date a hand built rocking chair like this, the wood pegs and the type of simplicity in the architectural style(all wood parts, use of pegs, no ornate decorations or frills, etc) leads me to believe that it is in the early to mid 1800's, but again, ... moreit was not mass produced like many rockers, and therefore, it is difficult to assign an exact age. However, if you like rare, primitive colonial style furniture this is a wonderful piece of vintage furniture. I searched the internet and was not able to find anything remotely like it. The rocking chair stands 34 and 1/2 inches high. The back of the chair consists of 7 wooden spindles(all well in place) and is 17 inches across. The seat, customary to early 1800 century furniture, is somewhat S shaped in that the front of the seat curls down and the back of the seat turns up. The seat is 20 inches across and 20 inches deep. The two rockers extend 26 inches in length. The chair, spindles, seat, legs, etc. all seem sturdy and all parts are original. I can not see where there has been any repair work done on the chair. Some very minor nicks on the seat which is expected for a chair this age. Local pick up in the Milwaukee area or will ship. ANTIQUE CHILDS ROCKING CHAIR This antique childs rocking chair is made out of French Maple Wood by the Hickory Chair Co. Hickory, NC. The rocking chair's seat has been recovered with pretty green tapestry cloth and the wood is all in original condition. It does have some imperfections such as rubs and minor scratching due to it's age, but none so deep as to be in need of repair. It measures 32" in height from the floor to the top back. 15" from the floor to the seat, 16" in width across the front, with a seat depth of 14 1/2" and the rocker rungs are 28 1/2" in length. There are a few cosmetic age marks on the frame and spindles with restoration wood filler on the top right curved back board. Please see all photos for condition. I found the rocker in its original condition as you see it and now selling it that way. The dimensions of the rocker are as follows: 15 5/8" wide- arm to arm. 12 1/2" wide at the front of the seat x 11 3/4" deep, 13" wide from front rocker runner to rocker runner, 18 1/4" long rocker runners, and the rocker sits 16 3/4" tall to the top of the back. The rocker is beautifully hand made with hand turned spindles through out the chair and with curved or bent steamed back board and arm which holds the spindles in place. Antique Upholstered Wooden Rocking Chair-Jacob & Josef Kohn-Vienna-late 1800s?
Offered is this antique upholstered wooden rocking chair made by Jacob and Josef Kohn. Father-and-son furniture manufacturers in Austria in the late 19th and early 20th century. The chair is approx. 28 3/4" high. 28 3/4" from front to back of the rocker and about 16 1/2" wide in the front. Two of the Kohn labels appear on the chair bottom(see photos) There is also another label but it looks as if it was handwritten and it is no longer legible. I do not know what kind of wood it is made from. The chair has two big problems. The biggest is that the left front leg has broken at the base. By the rocker. There was a screw holding it together here but it has come apart. The other problem is that the curved support underneath the back of the chair has cracked. So far it is still holding together. I don't know if these are"fatal" ... moreflaws– I am hoping someone with knowledge could repair these defects and have a beautiful chair. Otherwise. The chair is in good condition. The finish has some scrapes and scratches. Maybe a candidate for refinishing? The upholstery is in very good shape– just some slight fraying on the seat. I don't know if it is original or not. I am not sure exactly how old the chair is. The Kohns formed their partnership in 1867 but I am not sure how long the company lasted. I found references to their pieces from as late as the 1920s. I have the chair marked as"pickup only" because I am afraid in its current state it would not survive shipping. I have many other antique and vintage items listed on eBay as well.
