Free Shipping Condition: Used Location: Stevensville, United States Offered is this antique upholstered wooden rocking chair made by Jacob and Josef Kohn. Father-and-son furniture manufacturers in Austria in the late 19th ... moreand early 20th century. The chair is approx. 28 3/4" high. 28 3/4" from front to back of the rocker and about 16 1/2" wide in the front. Two of the Kohn labels appear on the chair bottom(see photos) There is also another label but it looks as if it was handwritten and it is no longer legible. I do not know what kind of wood it is made from. The chair has two big problems. The biggest is that the left front leg has broken at the base. By the rocker. There was a screw holding it together here but it has come apart. The other problem is that the curved support underneath the back of the chair has cracked. So far it is still holding together. I don't know if these are"fatal" flaws– I am hoping someone with knowledge could repair these defects and have a beautiful chair. Otherwise. The chair is in good condition. The finish has some scrapes and scratches. Maybe a candidate for refinishing? The upholstery is in very good shape– just some slight fraying on the seat. I don't know if it is original or not. I am not sure exactly how old the chair is. The Kohns formed their partnership in 1867 but I am not sure how long the company lasted. I found references to their pieces from as late as the 1920s. I have the chair marked as"pickup only" because I am afraid in its current state it would not survive shipping. I have many other antique and vintage items listed on eBay as well. This authenticated antique desk and chair has hand carvings throughout the entire desk even including the back. There are 5 carved open compartments for organizing and a hidden drawer that opens the full length of the desk with 4 divided sections inside. The center disposal is the original period velvet sack with a hanging cord attached to a lovely ivory pearl stone set within a bronze circular ring with designs. A walnut wood weight is attached. Hand wood carvings include 2 beautiful ladies protruding from sides of desk and removable cupid on the top that is attached to the lid that covers the compartment where the clock sits. The clock has 3 different hand designs and incased in bronze. The face is a natural cream ivory? porcelain with black Roman numerals. The face is aged with some hairlines but the numerals are bold without any color loss. The clock has 2 front legs and a weighted bronze pendulum that you can view from the photo. It does move side to side and I hear ticking but is in need of adjusting. The clock is original and fits perfect to view from a circular opening made for it within the desk. This all original desk is in very good condition without repairs. It is hard to believe there are only two tips missing from the delicate finials. Located on left side underneath the desk and on the right side bottom between the legs. You will need to really search in the pictures because they are very hard to find. It is very rare to find a set. How fortunate to have this elaborate matching chair with velvet padded seat in such wonderful condition. The carvings are amazing and please view the lion and the Fiorentino symbol on the back of the chair. In my 30 years of experience I have never seen a desk set like this. This chair is in excellent condition for its age. There are a couple of dings and nicks in the wood. BUT no cracks-only two joints where they have opened a bit, and i have illustrated this as best i could in the pictures. The chair is very solid and does not wobble or feel loose at all and the cushion is in great shape. The needle point seat and back are in remarkable condition. Vintage Wicker Rattan Rocking Chair with Bottom Seat Springs, Design in Back
Up for bid is this very vintage wicker rattan rocker. The rockers themselves are wood. This rocker is handmade and is probably from the 1930's or the 1940's. It has an attractive geometric design woven into the front of the chair's back. I do not see any broken wicker, so it is in great shape for its age. It is missing a great deal of paint due to its age. Underneath the seat are metal corner seat supports and metal springs. All the metal pieces are rusted, but they do not appear to be broken. Williams College Black Rocking Chair
Williams College black rocking chair made in mid 1990's. These are made for Alumni or fans of the school. Well made painted black with gold line trim. Williams logo in the middle of back of chair. A truly elegant chair! Current retail on these is $530.00. This has never really been used and has spent most of it's life in an office above my garage. I would like to say it is in as new condition but it has moved with me twice and has some light scattered scrathes in the black paimt and a couple of areas where white paint from one of my wicker chairs rubbed off on the black on a couple of the vertical back pieces. Vintage Black Harvest Adult Rocking chair made of solid maple from Hitchcock factory. I believe this piece dates from the 1950's This Rocking Chair has had no repairs and is intact. Signs of age are wear on the bottom of the rockers as shown in the photos and several minor indentations on seat consistent with gently used vintage furniture. The rocker was an accent piece and was always placed in the corner of a room in combination with the matching dresser and twin headboards( available in a separate auction) All belonged to my grandfather who passed away at 98 and were cottage furniture so saw minimal use. It has been painted because when I turned over it was green on bottom land under rockers. I had a dealer tell me it was a great find. I am offering local pickup. Grandaddy used to sit in this here chair just down the street from some of them more famous Newport, RI manses like them vanderbilts and rockin' fellers. And he snored loud enough after quohaugs and chitlin's and a little boston clam chowder to raise all the cain in this here chair. Kiddin' aside. Kind of, this chair is in medium shape.
