It is circa 1900 ... moreand had its original tag. It measures about 38" tall. 27" wide at the widest spot(arms) and 34" deep(length of rocker runners) It is dark walnut brown in color. Rocker runners are made of bird's eye maple. Original Heywood-Wakefield tag is still on the back of the seat(see photo) CONDITION: The chair is in great. Overall, antique condition. As an item that is over 100 years old, it does have some condition issues that I will go over here. T he chair had some damage to the seat which was repaired by an antiques refinishing and repair professional that I have trusted for years to work on my antique furniture. This damage included a split in the back of the seat which was repaired with epoxy and filled. It has had the caning in the seat replaced and colored to blend with the rest of the chair. The right arm was also loose at the base of the seat and has been reset firmly into place with epoxy. In fact. It is even more solid that the other arm which has some slight movement if you wiggle it, but is secure. The repaired arm does have some missing cane at the bottom, but does not detract greatly in my opinion and could be repaired if you wish. There is no other broken or missing whicker which is amazing for a large piece of this vintage. There is a bit of wood missing underneath on a leg where one rung is glued in but cannot be seen unless you turn the chair over. The entire piece has been refinished. Please see photos for pictures of the condition items discussed. Note: While this rocker is structurally sound. I would recommend that its delicate, antique nature be taken into consideration when used. It may not support larger people or rough usage. We are a smoke-free. Adult only environment. Very rare to find this in a child's rocker from that era. The wood appears to be walnut and oak but I cannot say for sure. There are light scratches throughout due to natural wear but no deep gouges or missing pieces. The woven cane seat is in excellent condition with no tears, breaks, or puncture holes. The chairs seem to last forever and even today. Some of the tried and true chair manufacturing techniques from decades ago are still used. You can count on one hand the chair makers who use the lost art of steam bending and mortise/tenon construction and other methods. APPRAISER INFO: Boston rocker. Wood is birch stained mahogany color. Paper label is missing as you can see and that would have been a huge clue in dating since N&S repeated the designs for 2-3 decades and the branded logo was used for several as well. VINTAGE BENTWOOD ROCKER / ROCKING CHAIR IVORY1960-75 SOLIDLY BUILT NO SQUEAKS
This is a 1970's Thonet-style. Adult size, bentwood rocker finished in enamel paint that was originally an ivory color. After acquiring the chair at an estate sale and cleaning it thoroughly, it is ready to rock. The finish has yellowed over the years, though most of the yellowing could probably be removed with light steel-wool. There are various chips and scratches in the finish-please view pictures carefully. The chair could definitely be re-painted. The chair is incredibly solid! To test. We had a 6'4" 216 pound man try it out and he rocked for several minutes(didn't want to get up because of the soothing nature of the rocker! No creaking or sounds of strain from the rocker! It does not move at any of the joints if one applies pressure to opposing angles. It rocks perfectly without any creaks, squeaks or other sounds of ... morestrain on the frame. The caning is also completely sound, with no sagging or worn spots, nor any stains. The only markings on the chair are on the underside of the seat where"Made in Poland" is imprinted in the rim. NOTE: I WILL BE TRAVELING TO CHICAGO AUGUST 1 AND COULD DELIVER THAT DAY OR POSSIBLY AUG 5 OR 6. I believe that taking the chair apart for shipping. Doll Rocking Chair This is a wooden pink rocking chair for a larger size doll. The top of the back of the chair is about 12" tall from the floor; the height of the seat is about 6-3/4" from the floor; the rockers are about 11-1/2" long and the seat is about 7-1/4" long from front to back. The opening between the 2 front posts is 6" and bows out to the widest opening at 9" The chair is in very good condition other than the loss of some color- just needs a bit of spray paint which can be pink or any color you choose. Has a look of wicker along the top but I think it's a hemp or something- very cute added detail. Antique Child's Wood Windsor style painted black rocking chair. I'm not sure of it's exact age but probably early 1900's. The chair measures 18" high. 14" wide with 4 rungs on the bottom. Corners of the arms have some missing wood but does not effect the strength of the chair. Very solid.There are dings here and there but they give character to the piece.Not sure what kind of wood but looks like oak. This piece is so solid a child could use it and it would stand up. The seat has been reworked over the years and is NOT leather. All the wood is oak. All the carvings are within the wood and I would believe are hand carved because of the mere age of the piece. The back is beautiful and very unique. The rocker is solid with the wood in excellent condition. Perhaps one may want to refinish the seat in what I would guess was probably tufted with deep set buttons. This was popular during the mid to later 1800's. It is real comfortable. 29-1/2" wide up at the top by the big tufted buttons where the back takes on a wing appearance. 29-1/2" wide at the top on the plain arms top. Large green rocking chair by widely collected and exhibited Kentucky folk artist Willie Massey(1906-1990) Ca. late 1980s. Measures 11" x 8.5" x 5.5" mixed media carving/assemblage. Massey was an innovative user of whatever he had around-he made miniature furniture such as this chair out of wood from old fruit crates, using a simple pen knife. This chair features some of the"cross-hatch" carved decorative patterning typical for his work. And as is typical for Massey, asymmetry is the norm-which should be visible and obvious in the photos. I don't know why this would matter, but just in case it does: the chair rests on 3 of its 4 legs-the 4th is about a 1/4" shy of the ground. I cannot prove this is Stickley Bros. but I am certain it is. The two chairs were from the same time. The other, the one with the stamp is the one described as"Quaint Manor" in the following excerpt. It has some scratches and normal marks from normal use. The back and seat are cane and in good condition. This rocker is sturdy and would make a beautiful addition to your home. Vintage Press Back Convertible Infant High Chair/Rocking Chair
A beautiful dark wood piece. Still works great with the original mechanisms. Only flaw is a little peeling of the wood in two small places on the back of the seat back(pictured) Also if you are going to put a real child in the high chair conversion of it, you'll want to tighten up all the joints with some wood glue and screwing in, and probably fortify it with a modern mechanism too. But for decorative purposes it is ready to go.
