AS IS as found. This is a metal twisted wire as were the old Ice cream parlor table and chair sets as well as many higher stools This one is 18" high and the top is 14" across. Rusty but still a great piece, I would guess the seat was once covered by a leather cushion and held on with the bolts around the edge. It should spin to adjust height but it seems to be rusted tight I would guess it could be freed. Very ornate base that has been painted at one time in its life.

I picked this beautiful old Barley Twist chair up at the estate sale of an old lady who happened to also be a longtime piano and organ teacher. It's a splendid little piece with claw foot ball feet that we originally bought for our children but cannot keep. I'm honestly not sure on much else though as it has no visible markings(maybe I'm looking in wrong places) and my research hasn't yielded much-which has been quite vigorous! All I know is pretty much what I've described above and that it is solid wood. Stands at about 15" tall and is 9" wide in diameter(non-adjustable seat is 2" thick) making it much smaller than all other piano and organ stools leading me to also believe that it was originally made for little children-and that's what the estate sale professional said which also goes hand in hand ... morewith the ladies occupation.but who knows? I do weigh about 190 lbs however and can sit on it with no problem whatsoever, so this thing is definitely strong and sturdy! Anyhow. Scarce Antique 1870's Victorian Adjustable Mechanical Piano Stool Organ Bench EX
For sale 1870's Piano Bench that raises and lowers by the Knobs on the ends of the stool by way of the metal mechanics under the seat. This was very avant-garde for the period. Adjustable piano bench were round and turned on the wood corkscrew dowel attached to the seat. The wood which I believe to be walnut is in. EXCELLENT dark stained condition and has never been painted. The seat was recovered but I believe was just put over the original seat as I can still see the strapping underneath. I was instructed that this is a vintage spinet piano.Not an upright. I was also instructed that a spinet piano has a better tone than an upright piano. If this corresponds with your thought process,then you should purchase this instead of at a piano store unless you are willing to give up your first born. There are many subjects that I possess limited knowledge and pianos are one of those subjects. I purchased this because I thought one of my ADULT children was going to take my antique Story& Clark piano in my living room. As happens now and then children change their mind. Now I have two pianos that I cannot play. Therefore. Please don't try to sell me a piano. Anyway, I believe there are a few keys out of tune,so if one is planning on giving a recital as soon as they receive this piano-it won't happen. Overall, it looks great ... moreand won't be mistaken for anything but a piano.but don't expect perfection. After all it is used. The piano is approximately 57" wide by 38" high and 24" deep. Bentley Freeport Chicago The wooden stool has nice turned legs. Wonderful feet with glass marble balls and a unique dragon/ head claw shape. The glass is visible trough the two eyes and at the base. Cleaned out an old furnitue store and found this. Someone used it for a plant stand so there is a water stain on the seat. Claws and balls are in good condition as is the rest of the stool. Spins nicely and is very sturdy. Probably around the late 1800's or early 1900's. Don't know the maker. Ships to Continental US only and will ship UPS. Rare Antique Victorian Mahogany 1878 R W Archer & Bro. Piano Organ Stool LOOK!
This is a very old R W Archer& Bros piano stool. I obtained this from an estate sale in Ohio. This stool is solid and has a nice weight(over 15lbs) I believe the wood is Mahogany but I am not 100% sure. The stool works as it should and swivels up and down. I bought it to restore but it has been sitting for about a year and it has become apparent that is not going to happen. The seat needs replaced and recovered and there are some nicks and wear(please see pictures) This stool is as I found it and I have done nothing to it. It is marked may 6 1978. There are age related scratches and nicks As to be expected from a use antique piece. Decorated with reed lined undulating legs with acorn buttons and acorn finial on the base. The seat has the same reed lines and acorn buttons with the addition of a scalloped apron on each side with carved curly cues. The seat brace-metal base has been reattached some ... moretime ago. It is now loose. Not sloppy but needs to be retightened or re drilled for a tight fit. This does not affect the balance or seat itself when used. When in use the stool is sturdy and solid. I believe at one time there were four acorn finals at the corners but they have been removed some time ago. There is a remaining A. Merriam Co. paper tag attached to the bottom(photo 7) and the metal brace is stamped with the same name. There is a chip on the Inside decorative apron-see photo 12- It is Not noticeable when in use but needs to be noted as the condition of the piece. The seat was reupholstered with a deep Burgundy Naugahyde that is starting to peel and crack. The cushion itself looks to be in good condition.
