They are carved in the Louis XV style in solid mahogany but the tapestry certainly takes center stage, the colors are a soft palette vibrant without taking over the entire room. Solid construction very comfortable and sturdy, no issues that I can see of anykind. We are happy to look at offers on this lot of 2. Please keep in mind the sales price will not include the shipping to you. Made by the Briggs Patent Portable Ottoman Portfolio Piano Stool- Patented April 28th. 1868 and Aug 31st, 1869. Briggs' Manufactory of Portable. Patent Piano Stools- This business was commended in town, in a small way, by Joshua Briggs, in 1862. He made, at old jobs, one dozen of piano-stools in 1863, accupying the basement of Robert Day's shop, near'Wilder's Manufactory, North Peterborough. In the spring of 1864 he rented the second story and attic of'Brennan's Building, in the village, and continued them until the whole building was too limited for his vastly increased business, when he purchased the saw-mill of Mark Wilder, and erected for his manufactory, in the summer of 1873, his present large and commodius buildings. The progress of his business was gradual, from making a dozen piano-stools by himself, as in ... more1862, 63' and then with hiring one or two hands a part of the time, to his present condition. He now employs, when the business is good, from twenty-five to thirty hands in the shop, and at the same time hires all his iron-work, castings, screws, etc. done outside. Mr Briggs has secured five several patents on his piano-stools; two on the screw style, two on the ottoman style, one on the portable back. The Massachusetts Charitable Mechanics' Association, Boston, in September, 1869, awarded to him a diploma and honorable mention of his piano-stools. In September, 1871, at the New England Fair at Lowell, Mass, a silver medal was awarded him for his portable piano-stools. Overall good condition. Ornate cast iron legs. Wooden painted frame shows some minor wear and paint loss. Hinges appear to have been replaced. I am not a furniture expert that said this is definitely one of the nicest piano stools.I have seen some like it with the back and claw foot legs but none quite as nice.The wood is probably mahogany but I cant be sure.The tops of the chair what I would call finials?is what sets this apart along with the wonderful carving.The chair is approx: 36 inches to the top of finials? 20 inches to top of seat and seat is 14 inches wide.There are a couple defects as noted in photos but overall very good condition.I was told that this style may be attributed to a Ct. maker.PS This is for local pickup.PS The chair weighs approx: 16 pounds.

There is some loss of paint on the feet, but the rest of the paint is in relatively good condition. The seat is covered in a gold/yellow handmade needlepoint with a floral center design. The seat seems to be a bit dull in color, however it is in relatively good condition commensurate with the age of the piece. I have no idea if the seat is original. The padding on the seat does not seem very thick, however it is not uncomfortable to sit upon. There is a thread mechanism that allows the seat to rise to a different height. However, the seat does wobble a bit. In its lowest position the stool is about 18 inches high the seat is 12 inches wide. Rare. Unique, and completely original late 19th century piano stool, which could also be used as a small table or plant stand. Circa 1870's- 1890's. The seat and turned center carved and highly decorated column is solid walnut with very rare thick elaborate cast iron base legs ornately adorned with ornamental embellishments painted black and trimmed with gold. The top surface is solid walnut. Beautifully age distressed and also ornately painted in Hitchcock style design with gold accents. There are many potential uses in any décor. very rare prudent mallard piano stool. Made in the mid 1800's. an antique expert attributed this piece to mallard. it appears the actual craftsman has incised his name into the bottom of the seat frame. at any rate, it has a great look to it, wonderful form and is solid rosewood. it has a solid pedestal that has an unique form which tapers into a small receptacle for the seat screw at the top, however, the pedestal from the bottom of the base starts wide, goes in, and then flares out somewhat. neat design that i have not seen before. the four legs attach to the base of the pedestal. the seat has a very nice period looking new fabric. the stool is 18 inches across the base, 18 inches across the widest part of the seat, and 16 inches across the smaller dimension of the seat. the seat is made in a somewhat of an oval, but the corners of ... morethe seat have a definite angle to them and are not merely rounded. it stands 21 inches tall when the seat is all the way down and just at 27 inches tall when it is screwed out as far as it will go. the screw locks when it is out to it's allowable extended distance and also locks at the bottom sitting. great piece, rare form, noted maker, solid rosewood, perfect condition as far as i can tell. it may be picked up at my home or shipped at buyer's expense. good luck.

Charless Parker PIANO STOOL Glass & Iron Claw Feet Walnut--Lovely but needs work
This auction is for an antique wooden piano stool we have had in our lives for about 20 years. It turns out this stool is in worse condition than I thought. And it needs to go to a home w/ a craftsman or woodworker. About 10 years ago it was getting a bit wobbly and I added the bungee cord to stabilize it a bit. I know? Is that hi tech of what? I thought it just needed to be re-glued(as in the areas w/ the arrows) but as you can see from the zoomed images, the lower base is also cracked and underneath, the metal has at some previous time been cracked, too. I could probably get more for just the metal and glass feet, but I don't have the heart to strong-arm this pretty little stool apart, into pieces. So I'm putting it up onto the Bay, as is, and hoping someone can discover the life still left in this lovely little piece. We are getting ... moreready to head off into the sunset w/our RV, going full time, exploring national parks, and having adventures. But first I have to take care of business, especially clearing out some of our extra stuff. The house has sold, so we have to move! His wages for the month were six dollars, plus his board. After a year with Mr. Matthews, he worked for Harry and Horace Smith, who also manufactured buttons. RARE Antique Piano Stool Chair Wood Round Swivel Seat Bench Schuermann New York
EXTREMELY RARE FIND* Early 1900's(was told roughly 1913) Schuermann Piano Stool in EXCELLENT Condition Stumbled upon this beauty at a recent estate sale. It is in excellent shape. Swivel goes up and down as if it were new and the wood is in excellent shape. It looks like it"may" have been repainted/resurfaced but I believe it is just slight wearing of the original surface. The hardware states"SCHUERMANN WASHINGTON. N.J. F.A. Schuermann was a co-founder of the New York Stool& Mfg Co started in the early 1900's along with W. Tonk and E.G. Tonk with only $25.000 in capital. I have been able to find very little beyond this but was told by an appraiser friend that it is an extremely rare stool and that he hadn't seen enough of them to even begin to give me an estimated price on it. The above information was found ... moreby an extensive search of old technical books, there is no information online about this stool or this company(at least the notorious Google couldn't find anything) so I am going to put this up with no reserve. I was allowed only 12 pictures so tried to get as much of every part of the stool as possible. With a dark walnut stain, Measures 14 1/2" across& 19 1/2" high Holtzman and Sons was a great company back in the late 1860's to early 1900's. They made all sorts of things and piano stools was a specialty. This stool was made somewhere between 1860 and 1880. SUPERB ANTIQUE VICTORIAN HIGH BACK ADJUSTABLE PIANO STOOL CHAIR GREEN GLASS FEET
We are pleased to offer this beautiful antique stool/chair. This is a gorgeous piece with fantastic details and character. It features a high back with side spindles and a center slat. The top of the chair back is arched and has a nicely carved design. The chair has beautiful turned wood legs as well as the center adjustment mechanism. The legs are fitted with gilded iron claw and glass ball feet. The iron is very ornately patterned. The glass is a light green with tiny air bubbles. The adjustable seat is rounded and rests atop the actual chair seat. The chair looks as if it has been re-stained(by hand) at some point. The chair back. At the top, has dark stain on the sides and medium stain in the center. The dark stain pattern is not uniform and has a"free hand" look. It is quite unique looking and does add character to the piece. ... moreThe adjustment also has newer screws attaching it to the seat. The chair is in very good condition with some very minor scuffs and light wear to the finish in just a couple of areas. The adjustment is functioning properly. The stool seat is designed to stop a couple of inches before the chair seat; they do not touch. It has been marked by the manufacturer but, as you can see, the mark has faded and I cannot make out the name. In general, this is a beautiful chair in very good condition. The chair measures as follows: It is 36.5" tall. The back is 15.25" wide at the top. The chair is 20" front to back. The legs are 13.5" wide. The round stool seat is 13.5" in diameter. The bench is 3 1/2 inches high and 4 1/2 inches long. The bench is missing the back plastic bar. The bench is still tight without it. There is also a piano stool which is 2 1/8 high and1 1/2 wide. This is a vintage antique Chas. Parker Co. piano stool in excellent condition. This beauty shows very little wear and was attic stored for much of it's life. This ball an claw style with an adjustable iron corkscrew that turns to the left to raise and to the right to lower. The glass marble balls are in excellent shape-clear with very little wear. The stool measures 19 1/4" in height at lowest position and the seat is14" in diameter. This would make an excellent addition to a traditional piano room or perhaps for a guitar player. Rare Vintage Antique Victorian Piano Organ Stool Chair-Eagle Claw and Ball Feet
This is a nice condition Vintage Piano Organ Stool Chair. Has the eagle Claw and Ball feet. This was my grandmas. I'm no furniture expert on age. But from what I've seen I would say it is sometime between 1870-1900. Chair is in great condition. These stools with the backs are very rare. My uncle who is in the furniture making business repaired the top back of chair. You cannot tell except for the screws he used. Back of chair is 36 1/4 inches high. Stool seat turns round and raises and lowers just the way it's suppose to. Feel free to ask me any questions you might have. I will ship to U.S.A. Comes from a smoke free home.
