This Chair is a beautiful Golden Oak color. Some of my photos are showing too much red; it is really golden. The cushions are a beige nubby material in positively new condition. They have zippers. This is a stunning solid quarter-sawn mission oak child's morris chair dating to the late 1800's. This is a one-of-a-kind beauty and in superb condition. The wood grain on the chair is exceptional and features wide arms with turned spindled supports. The seat and chair back have been skillfully restored with a period color leather type material accented with brass studs/tacking. The front of the chair has a carved serpentine apron and wide serpentine legs with square feet. The back has three grooved positions and two support bars. All legs culminate in wooden casters. The chair measures 21 1/2" wide by 22" deep and stands 31 1/4" tall and is in superb condition for its age and very sturdy. Antique Quarter Sawn Oak Morris Chair Recliner 1880's American
The pictures don't really do this piece justice as they were taken by my phone. This is a pretty amazing find and I'm selling this Morris chair for a consignor in Duluth at Port City Antiques. Don't mind the upholstery because it falls short of what you should expect of a chair of this vintage. 1890's is my guess and it is in perfect condition with original finish on the quarter sawn oak. Griffin heads on the arm rests and carved flat panel across the bottom. Appears to be made in the style of famed furniture maker. R.J. Horner, who made elaborately carved oak furniture around the turn of the century. Not certain but looks like the same style to me.No damage whatsoever and complete refund if this chair does not meet expectations. This is a pretty interesting find today that came out of a small antique shop in Duluth. Mn. Interesting enough that it is a rare carved Griffin head Morris recliner and in near perfect shape, it is remarkable that this is the second one of these that I have come upon in 25 years of being in the antique business and both of these were right here in my home town and discovered about 3 days apart. This is a massive. Oak Morris chair that has been re-glued and refinished and has newer upholstery. Notice the huge paw feet and the impressed design on the skirt and the legs. This is an original antique child size 3-position Morris Chair. Solid quarter-sawn oak, slat side, flat arm, in excellent condition. There is no damage or repairs and no repairs needed. It has a very nice finish with professionally re-upholstered back and seat cushion in top-of-the-line vinyl faux leather with the soft feel of leather, it is clean and very solid. Overall height 27" overall width 17" with a seat depth of 12" There was some dust on the chair when I took the photos but it will be a cleaned by the time you receive it. Thanks for looking. Gustav Stickley Early Style Reverse Tapered Leg#2340 Bow Arm Morris chair This classic chair is an antique reproduction of Gustav Stickleys#2340 Bow Arm Morris Chair I handcraft these chairs from solid quarter sawn white oak in the Craftsman tradition with pegged mortise and through tenon joints through out. The approx. overall dimensions are. 32” long x 29-1/4” wide x 38-1/2” high. The Arms. Side rails and the back post that support the back are all 1-1/2" thick. The Tapered legs are 2-1/2" square at the top and flare down to a huge 3-1/2" square at the bottom. The arms are 5" wide at the front of the chair and taper to 4" wide at the rear of thr chair. The chair has three adjustments for the reclining back. The finish is hand applied mission brown aniline dye plus a coat of antique oil. Vintage Morris Style Wood Chair w/ pull out footstool / push button recline
Up for auction is a Morris style chair. The chair is very unique featuring a pull out foot stool that flips over and swivels to desired foot position and a ebony button on armrest that controls the recline of the chair. The recline and footstool hardware does work. I could find no maker name on the chair. The chair does have a couple nicks in wood under one armrest(i tried to get a good shot in one of the pics) but nothing major. The fabric is a green color and could use good cleaning. The chair measures about 37" tall.28" from arm rest to armrest, 22" armrest to ground, and 28inches long. I had this chair listed before and it was removed to due problem with my ebay account that has since been resolved, however if you was one of the bidders I do apologize. Original metal brackets& rod and the original seat cushions, the Heywood Bros. Wakefield Paper Label is still intact underneath the chair. This child's chair is in fantastic antique condition with no breaks or repairs we can find.appears all original. Heywood Bros. was established in 1826 and Wakefield Co. in 1855. The two companies merged in 1897 and became Heywood Bros. Wakefield co. from 1897-1921. In 1921 the name was changed to Heywood Wakefield. Morris Recliner. Not sure of the wood but it is stained red. Oak was typically used and stained. The upholstery was redone using a navy blue Waverly pattern. All of the reclining positions work and it's very comfortable. I am not opposed to out of the area of buyers but I will not make arrangements for delivery and/or pay for it. professionally restored.S.A. Cooke& Co circa 1905- Morris chair. S.A. Cooke& Co circa 1905.pea pod" cast iron Morris chair mechanism shown here at on the right. Patented by George Bowen for the S.A. Cook Co in Medina NY on 9 July, 1901. Much as the stamped-out reclining mechanism seems to be limited to Larkin chairs, this cast iron reclining mechanism probably defines a chair as being a product of S.A. Cook and Company. The functional similarity between the Cook and Larkin devices may be accidental but both companies were headquartered in Western New York State and both devices appeared at about the same time. The cast iron hinge seen in this picture may also be a feature only found on Cook chairs. Cook chairs were often elaborately carved and sometimes carried an identifying brass plate at the bottom of the back.

This chair has all the identifying characteristics of the Heywood Wakefield Morris chairs produced around the turn of the century. Manufactured by HW we have the remnants of ... morea Larkin label on the inside front stretcher, leading one to suspect this particular chair or perhaps just the front stretcher was contracted out to Larkin Soap Co. or the Indian River Furniture Co. in Philadelphia, NY, and may have been mistakenly adhered by someone there. It is unusual to find the remnant(as pictured here) of the Larkin label on an HW chair. Everything else about this chair is Heywood Wakefield. There is more about various makes of Morris chairs at the Scarborough Marsh Fine Furniture website- a great resource if you own a Morris chair. The following information was sourced from the Scarborough Marsh site: I have come to believe that the hinge shown(see pic 3) also indicates that a Morris chair was made by Heywood Brothers/Wakefield. I have only seen it on HB/W chairs. Using only the frequency of Morris chairs appearing on Ebay and Craig's List as evidence. I believe that HB/W must have made many more child Morris chairs than adult ones. Of course, another reasonable interpretation of the data is that the child chairs survived at a higher frequency. Antique Haywood Bros. & Wakefield Mission Morris Reclining Chair
We're selling a beautiful. Antique mission-style Morris recliner. It was made by Heywood Bros. Wakefield Company and the original paper label is beneath the arm of the chair. I have a picture of it. A little research told me that Heywood Brothers& Wakefield Company merged in 1897 and the name changed to Heywood-Wakefield in 1921. This is a chair from the early 1900's. The oak wood is in beautiful condition. The recliner mechanism looks to be original and works beautifully. The cushions are made from a nice deep blue material which is very comfortable. The bottom of the chair legs have wooden casters. Dimensions: 28 3/4" across the arms- 30" arms front to back- 17 1/2" floor to seat- 40 1/2" floor to top of back cushion This is a great piece.antique. Vintage and comfortable. Streit Morris Chair Cincinnatti (1907)
For your consideration is an antique morris chair that was manufactured by the Streit Morris Chair Co. of Cincinnatti. Ohio in 1907. It was one of their premier pieces due to the heavy carvings on the arms and paw feet. It was item No. 542 in the 1907 Streit Morris Chair catalogue. I had it reupholstered over thirty years ago by the Lucarreli Bros. of Toledo who own Al's Upholstery Shop and are know for their quality work. The chair looks as good as then because I only use it for decor. The arms have beautiful carvings of lions(gargyles) and huge paw feet. I believe it has the original finish also. The only other non-original piece on the chair is the rod that adjusts the chair in the back. The underside of the seat has it's original wood frame along with pieces of the original label that read-TREIT. It measures approx. 30 in wide ... moreby 32 in long by 38 in tall to the top of the back of the chair. This chair is gorgeous, rare and a unique collectible! You will" Love" it! It is also known as a Stickley design. This chair is antique and will not be perfect. There is 1 spindle missing from under one of the arms. The chair is made from mahogany and has beautiful heavily carved paw feet and carved detail around the skirt of the chair. Measurements: Height of arm at center = 25" Height of arm at front = 26.25" Bak height at corners =40.25" at corners and 40" at center/ overall depth = 32.5" width across wood back = 19.75" 30.5" across arms outside to outside at center/ height of seat =13" to upholstered part at top of wood/ height of seat with cushion = 18.5" The side rails are a lyre shaped and the arms have an elegant curve to them. The rod and rail on the back are original to the piece and they are both brass. The rod has both the original balls on the ... moreends as well. I am unsure as to whether the hinges are original or not. All of the wood slats are intact and they are tight as well. The seat where the cushion sits has been covered in fabric.
