ANTIQUE REGENCY ROSEWOOD BRASS INLAID SOFA/LIBRARY TABLE - Price Reduced!
This is a beautiful Rosewood Regency period brass inlaid pedestal sofa/library table with a large drawer. Including original lockset and key! Purchased in London ~1952. It’s been in the family ever since with it’s unrestored. Original finishes and patina. Dimensions: 56" wide with leaves open(up) 36" wide with leaves closed(down) 29¾" deep 27¼" high Drawer: ~18½” wide x 22¾“ long x 2¼” interior drawer depth) Top and Drop Leaves- Fabricated with beautiful. Aged Rosewood the top and leaves are decorated with two lines of brass string inlay which includes four“8-pointed star” motifs in each corner of the two leaves and four scrolled inlays centered on each side of the top. The leaves are supported in the open position by lyre-shaped brackets(fly-backs? which have brass-inlaid 4-leaf motifs on the ... moreends. Brass string inlays are loose/bulging at various points. Although no brass appears to be missing. Table top/leaf edges are trimmed with rosewood with at least 2 small pieces missing. Top piece has some checking in the wood; the finish varies in glossiness in several spots; nicks; spots; and scratches. All typical for the age of an unrestored piece like this. Front. Back, Drawer, and Lockset– There is one large brass inlaid dove-tailed drawer complete with its’ original lockset and key. This drawer is nearly the full depth of the table and there is a“dummy drawer” face at the back(including a dummy brass inlaid keyhole) The front apron has two decorative raised panels to either side of the drawer with lavishly inlaid scroll-work. The back is the same design as the front. The underside of the drawer has a scribed line in the center of the wood( The l ockset works. But not smoothly. The key will raise the 2 lock pins. But will not retract the pins all the way down. Pedestal. Base, and Legs– The table stands stable on a rosewood-wrapped round pedestal and base with four sabre-shaped legs ending in the original“hairy-claw-foot” brass casters. This Antique Library Table is in good condition. As you could expect from a piece this old there are some very minor wear marks and minor nics. The table does look like the picture but if your looking for perfection this table is not for you. The top was refinished at one time. There are some wear marks under the finish. One very distinctive mark. It has one drawer at the center. The table measures Approximately 48" long x 28" wide x 29" high. Its exact origin is unknown. The wood type is quarter sawn heavy flecked White Oak. We believe it was made around the early turn of the century. It will be disassembled for flat box shipping. The following auction is for a book stack table. It is used. I don't know how old this is. I cant even figure out what its made out of. The chip in the bottom piece makes it looks like its made of wood. I think the other books maybe made of a heavy plastic or plaster. They sound different when you knock on them. There is paint where and chips on a few of the books. The books are rustic looking with Roman Numerals on them. Its quite dusty and needs cleaned up. The glass piece on the top is made of thick glass. It measures about 13.5 X 15.5 and is about 3/8 thick. The table stands about 17.5 inches tall. The glass piece that fits on the top overhangs a bit on each side. The table shows wear and is no way in mint condition. Most of the wear is the chips on the book pieces. For sale is an elegant 19 th century. Antique carved wooden oak pedestal table with an oval top supported by a profusely carved central pedestal. MEASUREMENTS: The tabletop measure 145 cm x 125 cm(57 inches x 50 inches) and is library height. GREAT CARVING: The legs and feet of the massive pedestal base are heavily carved with fanciful animals– it looks like winged griffins– ending in lion’s paws. The central part of the pedestal is carved in acanthus leaves. The top is plain. Has a thick carved band and even rounded apron and is as found(see the splits in the top where the pieces were joined together; it does not affect the use of the table, but for cosmetic reasons could probably be easily glued and clamped together to eliminate the cracks) The top screws on to the base. A beautiful finish and unusual fixtures compared to the dozens of other arts& crafts library tables I've seen online. I especially like it because the top has a"recessed" look and doesn't overhang the legs as most others do. The bottom shelf is very strong, too. I found this piece at Adam Monroe Antiques. A dealer on Chicago's antique district on Belmont Avenue in the late 1980s. I'm not sure, but it looks like it has been refinished as the wood is beautiful and not as banged up as others I've seen online. I think the drawer pulls and casters are original. Although I am no specialist(request close-up photos if you want) The drawer pulls look to be copper, and I've not seen another library table with casters. It has two large drawers(15.5" wide x 24.25" deep x 4.25" high, interior measurements) and casters(wheels not shown, but installation is easy, just insert into holes in legs, see other pics) It has a full maker label underneath(and I think a model number, see pics) Condition is very good overall. Recently found here in Maine. A scarce early and heavy L. J.G. Stickley Onondaga single drawer library table- model 397. Circa 1902- 1904. Measures 28" x 40" x 29"H. Thick heavy legs and thick slab top. Overall quite good. Solid& tight condition but with some issues. Finish is not original; a prominent water stain on top which will need to be bleached or sanded out and several other lesser stains; slight warp to top; some isolated scratches and tiny wood chips. This is a scarce early table that seldom appears on the market. Local pickup only but I might be able to help in arranging shipment. No PAYPAL BECAUSE OF LOCAL PICKUP. The 12 drawers offer lots of storage possibilities. But for me it's all about the style& décor. Nothing looks so awesome, authentic and enriching as these old office furnishings, with all their details of incredible quartersawn joinery& cast, aged brass. This is a nice piece of fine American Oak. These were the file cabinets of their day. But to make such a thing now would be an immense extravagance. And you can't fake this kind of character and lived-in feel of a fine old piece like this. But of course you can adapt card-file cabinets to hold every sort of smallish thing in very organized grids of drawers. The Tiger-Oak is awesome. This kind of dense. Spectacularly ... morefigured old growth White Oak is virtually extinct, if you found one of these ancient trees that were once ubiquitous in the Eastern Woodlands, it should be preserved as among the very last individuals of their kind. The hardware is all nicely sculptured cast brass and not thin stamped sheet. A very convincing piece, and very well made by one of the premier makers during the age of the gorgeous golden-oak offices& stores that we all pine for. The size of this one is great for an end-table. And it's gorgeously paneled on all sides so its meant to be freestanding and beautiful from every angle. Drawers are nicely dovetailed, finish is in decent shape overall, certainly very livable& lovable. Measures overall about 24-3/8" high. 30" wide& 15-7/8" deep. Drawers look all the same, we measured a sample to be on the outside about 5-1/2" high, 8-5/8" wide& 14" deep. Inside the drawers measure about 4-1/4" high, 8" wide& 12" deep. As usually. It measures 72" inches in length by 30 1/2 in wide by 30 1/2 inches tall. The table weighs well over 250 lbs. There are a variety of Masks and Mythological Beasts Cherubs all of which are carved. Library Table - Wood & Naugahyde & Large Brass Tacks - Medieval Steampunk Desk
Unique library table. Wood base with a Naugahyde-covered top attached with large brass tacks. Measures approximately 55" long x 34-1/2" wide x 28-1/2" high. The table is heavy and solidly built. I would guess that it was made in the 40's and had the cover added or replaced in the 70's. There is a name written on the bottom with the year 1977. But there is also a much older small piece of a tag affixed to the bottom of the table with the same nails used for the pleather. The underside of the top is plywood, and the legs and stretchers appear to be solid wood, possibly walnut. I don't know what the top looks like beneath the naugahyde. The finish is worn on the base, for the most part consistently but with a few scratches here and there, I imagine with a little bit of stain the wear spots and scratches could be cleaned ... moreup. The top is overall in good condition but with two small punctures. A small tear along the edge, ink transfer in a 3x5 area, and a general patina of scuffs/scratches/etc. I wiped the top down with soap and water, but I didn't try to clean it using any harsher cleaners or anything to hide the scufffs- I'm sure you could do something if you wanted to, but I actually think it looks great as-is. This can be seen in Westborough MA any day/evening this week except Thursday before 4pm- please send me an email through ebay if you'd like to set up a time. Local pick-up. ANTIQUE ROSEWOOD FRENCH LOUIS XV GAME LIBRARY TABLE TOOLED LEATHER BRONZE MOUNTS
We are pleased to offer this EXCEPTIONAL antique to older vintage game/library table. This is an exquisite table of superior construction. The table is solid(no veneer) Rosewood or Mahogany with marquetry(inlaid) accents on the drawer faces. There are superb bronze mounts on the upper cabriole legs. The feet are a bronze. boot" that fits over the wood. The feet have detailed claw pattern with a feathered design above. The table top is leather and features a subtle, tooled medallion in the center and tooled scrolling around the perimeter. There are 4 inlaid wooden cup holders on the top as well. Each side of the table has one functioning drawer and one"faux" drawer, for a total of 4 functioning drawers. The detailing on the drawers is as superb as the balance of the table. They are solid wood with dovetail joints and flat head ... morescrews. They are semi-divided. The drawers have wooden glides(also dovetailed) which mount and slide on the wooden rails inside the table. The table's apron/skirt is beautifully scalloped. This is a truly fabulous table. It dates to the early half of the 20th century, probably in the 1940s. It is in EXTREMELY nice condition with only very minor evidence of age or use. There are only a couple of minor surface scuffs which are neither distracting or severe. The bronze mounts are securely attached and still retain their gilded finish. The table is heavy, sturdy and BEAUTIFUL. There are no manufacturer's marks or stickers, but each drawer is stamped with the number 4. The table measures 30.25" tall and it is 27.75" squared. We have here a rare and hard to find authentic, WILKINSON LEADED STAINED GLASS LAMP on a Wilkinson base, which is signed with a number on the bottom. The number is a little hard to make out and might be 308, 309. Wilkinson uses 5 normally so it might be 508 or 509. This BEAUTIFUL Lamp is a stunner, BOTH ON and OFF as with leaded glass lamps, it's all about the color and this has GREAT COLORS& TEXTURE! I have seen this shade with this same floral pattern but not with these colors; and if you like BLUES& GREENS, PINKS& GOLDEN YELLOW ORANGE, this is for you. The choice of glass is OUTSTANDING. There is great coloration and excellent use of glass selected for TEXTURE, such as RIPPLE, slag, striated, swirling, marble& mottled glass, all expertly selected in the making ... moreof this shade. The shade is about 18.5 inches across x 8 3/8' tall. This is the known factory size, and it goes to show that this was never repaired. The height of the HEAVY library base is about 27' to the top of the ball finial. The shade is unsigned, which is normal and to be expected; but this is a known, fully DOCUMENTED LAMP made by Wilkinson Company in Brooklyn, New York, between 1907 and 1915. You can see a similar lamp that sold on RUBYLANE by following this link. Wilkinson lamp from antiquevintagelamps on Ruby Lane We think the Ruby Lane lamp was not as nice looking. As the glass choice for the background is basically green and there is not a nice mix of colors. It sold for more than our opening price. This EXACT shade design can be found on page 268 and the base can be found on page 266 in the book: Mosaic Shades Volume II by Paul Crist I will describe the lamp in several ways. Antique French Renaissance Revival Library Walnut Table Desk 1800's
This is a genuine solid walnut library table desk with a walnut veneer top. It was made between 1850-1899. And was used in the Druillard Library of Madison, Tn. I know the history of this library and of this desk because 4 generations of my family went to this school. This library was part of a private church school where you could start out in diapers in the nursery school building and continue through all of elementary, junior high,high school and 4 years of college in one school. The library was shared by all. It got the name Druillard from a lady whose name was Charlotte Druillard, who gave the money to the school for the library to built close to the turn of the last century-1900. She was the wife of the man who founded the famous Belmont College and University in Nashville. Both of my parents went to this school who met there and married. ... moreIn the mid 1970's the school thought the library building was too old and needed to be torn down. My father(who was very sentimental) purchased this table from the library. He immediately loaned it to the school alumni association to place in their entry way. It remained there until Oct.1985, when after my father's death, my mother asked for it back. She gave it to me for my home. I have used it as a desk in my home since 1985. It has been well taken care of and is in excellent condition. A quality made piece with two drawers across the front. Not a lot of wood carvings, but a beautiful design though a more simple elegant piece to look at that is also very practical. Large in scale and has a variety of potential uses. The measurements are: 54 1/2"long x 32" wide x 28" high. It is finished on all sides so it can be placed in the center of a room.There are two dovetailed drawers that go across the front of the table, that slide in and out easily. This massive library table is especially"RARE" and"top of the line" in that it contains 6(SIX) large"raised paneled" drawers(three on each side) measuring 22 1/2" wide. 16 1/2" deep and 3 1/2" high.all dovetailed, front and back!
