This is a very sweet child-sized Victorian iron bed.old chippy paint and old brass. It has a wire mesh platform meant to hold up a feather tick. And here's the best part. it has the side pieces. Unusual to find a bed like this. In a smaller size. This bed would be perfect to display quilts, or maybe antique dolls. Condition is good with the exception of two things that I see.the mesh platform frame is a little off square(easy to fix) and the brass balls on the foot board are dented at the top. ANTIQUE IRON BED, SANDBLASTED AND REPAINTED, RESTORATION
About mid 20th century somebody decided that the headboard was to tall and they didn't want a foot-board so they cut the headboard off and turned it around to make the foot-board the headboard. It had about 4 coats of paint so I sandblasted it clean and painted with 3 super size cans of white gloss rustoleum paint. I have a pic of the headboard before painting it so you can see how clean it is. How do I know this alteration was done in mid 20th you ask? Antique Iron Bed Off-White Swayback
Hello Ebayers, This was used with a full size mattress for 20 years. The mattress did not fit all that well but it worked well enough. Old beds like this used a different mattress dimension. This bed also uses pins to content the rails to the headboards(See pic#6) I do not have those so I used bolts from the big box store. This caused the bed to be a little wobbly but maybe you have the right size pins or"snugger" fitting bolts. Anyway I used it for 20 years but now we must part. Up for auction is a beautiful wrought iron twin daybed and matching twin trundle in excellent condition. The trundle has wheels for easy storage under the bed. I used this as a guest bed and also as a sofa at one point. It works great in either capacity. I bought this brand new at Dillard's Department Store about 9 years ago for $700.00. It is a heavy, high quality piece of furniture. The frame is all-iron construction. I am sad to part with it, but am moving/downsizing and must sell. As you can tell by the photos, I did not put the bed together completely for the pics. I do have all of the hardware and it was completely just a few months ago. There are minor marks on it, not very noticeable. It almost looks like a new piece of furniture. The iron frame has four parts: the two ends, the springs, and the headboard. This is a set or pair of iron bed rails typically used on antique iron beds. They measure 73 1/4" long from tip to tip and 72 1/4" long not counting the pins and have tapered pins which are 7/8" across at the top. We provided pictures that show the measurements using a tape measure. There is some obvious paint loss which is typical but otherwise are fine. We also have some other bed rails presently listed in our store. It is available for pick up or can be shipped by Fed Ex ground for 28.80 including insurance to the lower 48 states.
