Antique 1930s Art Deco Cedar Lane Hope Chest Miniature.
One of the oldest Cedar Lane miniature hope chests I have ever seen. Art Deco design from the 1930s. This box was fully restored. Outside of the box was cleaned and finished with several coats of MinWax Satin Varnish and hand-polished to a soft lustre with 0000 steel wool and paste wax. The wood has beautiful straight line graining and coloring. The box is 9" long x 4" tall x 4 1/8" deep. These miniture chests were given to the purchasers of a full-sized one to use as jewelry boxes. This one came from the Rice-Pappenheimer Furniture Company. The Lane Furniture Company was established in 1912 in Altavista. Virginia. It still has a functioning lock, but no key. The rounded edges and wooden feet set this one apart from the more recent designs. This is beautiful one-of-a-kind item that any collector of Lane boxes would prize. Solid wood with cedar lining. pad bun feet with decorative wood trim on sides and oval in center. wood bench style back of trunk is about 3" high with carved design, the skeleton key lock is original hardware( no key is included) the hinges appear to have been tampered with, lost some nails and replaced, original screws in cedar lining(top and inside of trunk) this would look gorgeous with some love, there are a few paint drips on top as shown, there is wear to bottom of feet, top edge of seat/ chest and top of back design. there is also a faint but short note written in pen on inner edge. please note vintage and used items may have been exposed to pets or smoke. thanks

Up for sale is a very nice vintage wood hope chest. It's made like the real cedar chests. But it is not cedar. It's a hard wood with a mahogany finish to it. Beautifully made. Very minor tiny flecks of scratches to finish. Measure 3 3/4" wide x 1 7/8" tall x 1 7/8" deep. Sturdy and very nicely made. From the 1960's or early 70's as all items from this estate are from that era. I am not an expert on doll house furniture. So please ask if you have any questions. Wrought iron Grab Lock Blanket hope chest box old antique key 1800's This is a hand wrought iron grab lock or blanket chest lock from the early 1800's. These Locks were mounted on the inside of blanket chests.When the lid is closed the lock grabs the keeper the chest is locked. The key must be used to unlock the lid. The lids are often broken because the key was dropped inside the blanket chest. All the parts were hand cut and then riveted together. This lock is in excellent condition with original keeper. There is very little wear for the age. The original keeper mounts under the lid. All the parts are in very good condition. Lot of two Lane Cedar Chest Salesman Sample Wooden Trinket Jewelry hope 1 rare!
Up for auction is a lot of two vintage Lane salesman sample small cedar chest. One is very old which was given out to the students who graduated at West Plains High School in Missouri. They were given out by The Butler Furniture Company as a gift. This store was located in Mountain Home. Arkansas. This box is very scare and has the original Lane label on the bottom although, some of it is torn off. There is a spot on the bottom where sap has leaked out of the wood which was part of a naturally drying process if it was not completely dried in the kiln. There are some scratches to be expected with age however, the condition is very good. There is no key. The second box is newer(I think) and I do not know the history other than it is a salesman sample from the ABC furniture company in West Plains, Missouri. At one point, the hinge was broken ... moreand it looks like someone tried to repair the hinge. The bottom pegs are missing. This one also has general wear which is commensurate with age. Both boxes are just a bit different in size. These are excellent for the collector especially with the first one being so scarce. Remember, there are no keys, but you can have keys made. The dimensions are 37.25” long x 21.25” wide by 18” high. It has the thick. Original leather stitched carry handles and brass corner decorations to protect the edges. It comes with the two original interior divider shelves that can slide from side to side inside the chest(shown) It was kept in my mother’s library side room and was used to store items for safekeeping, so it was rarely opened. This was my toy box as a little girl. It was custom made for me in 1975 by one of my Father's employees at the Franklin County Prison in Chambersburg. PA. It's solid(stained) wood, but I don't know what kind of wood. It has some weight to it- it's not flimsy. Square on the bottom and angled on top. 2 sliding doors with white knobs. The track the doors slide on is heavy plastic. 2 shelves for books or stuffed animals, etc. 3 feet high, 3 feet wide. It's in such good shape. It's old, so I won't say it's excellent. But it's close. It's been covered in storage for many years to minimize dust or wear. It's extremely sturdy. It could be painted to look more kid friendly. It was the 70's- brown was in! Antique India Folk Art Wood Hope Chest / Marriage Box Trunk Hand Painted
Hi. For sale an antique wood/ chest(circa 1800s/ early 1900) marriage box. I am not positive of the boxes origin but I believe this is Folk Art. There are hand painted tulips on the edges and hand painted white flowers used in early American art. The measurements are 17 inches wide or long. 9 1/2 inches in height, and 7 1/2 inches deep. The chest/ Box weighs 11 pounds. It does have wear which is to be expected for it's age. The paint on the flowers have faded in some places, there are a few cracks on the wood, one is on the bottom(does not go all the way through, and one is on the inside of the lid. Wood shrinks with age and cracks are normal. There are a few places where wood has chipped off(one on the foot) the lock is missing and there is a heavy patina especially the places that would get the most use(by the handles. The front side ... morehas a darker patina(see 2nd picture) than the back side, it was probably sitting up against a wall and was covered on the top. The feet did have felt pads at one time. The rivets(or nails) are old type nails. It is made very well, it is very heavy and sturdy and it closes fine. Early 1900's Red Cedar Chest Made by Acme Chests. In South Bend Indiana-Acme Chests Burned down on July 4,1916 from fireworks and they couldn't afford to rebuild and they never made another chest. Inside this chest measures 34 1/2" long, 15 7/8" wide, and 11 3/8" deep with lid open. Closed it measures 37" long, 18 1/2" wide and 15 1/2" in height. Looks to have been upholstered in vinyl or Naugahyde. There is a cut/tear in one corner, a hinge is missing a screw. Chest has wooden handles on sides for carrying. And lastly there is a crack in the bottom of the chest.

I offer for sale today one fantastic looking storage bench with quite an appeal to it! looks great in my beach inspired room as seen missing a couple of the wooden plugs that go over the nail heads. Ive had this for many years over 20+ I acquired from a local estate sale here in CT. But I have no idea its provenance or maker you can tell this is old and was made by hand measures 30" tall by just under 47 1/2" long by 20 1/2" deep I am thankful to be a seller here on Ebay trying to pass on beautiful items to someone who collects them please understand that I am not an expert but I am learning! Personal "treasures" metal box Hope chest Dated 1813 Hinged lid Etched mementos
I can't remember the exact name for the little trinket boxes that people used to have for their memories and treasures. But that is what I think this is. It is in deteriorated condition, shown in the pictures, but it is 200 years old so the shape is understandable. Measures 5" by 1 1/2" by almost 1" tall. It is heavy for its size, about 7 1/2 ounces. Nifty little item, but I don't know its history. It came from an estate sale.

Up for auction is this wonderful Lane Cedar Antique hope chest from the early 1900’s. The chest has a tray on top. The chest is in wonderful condition with only one mark that I found on it. The chest measures 47” long. 18 ¾” deep, 19 ½” high, inside chest is 15 ¼” deep, 44” long, 16 ½” wide. When I went to list this the lock will need to be replace and Lane is replacing them free. Natural Wicker& Wood Storage Trunk/ Hope Chest with Brass Hardware Vintage 1970s. This vintage. Circa 1970s, natural colored wicker trunk/chest measures: 32" wide X 17" high with lid closed x 16" deep. It is well made, well woven and sturdy, about 25 pounds) in a hand woven wicker material over a wooden trunk. The lid has 2 wicker supports across the top and the 2 hinges on each side work well. There are 2 arched carrying handles on each side to help carry, move it& set it in place. The front has a brass hinged clasp that fits over 2 protruding cylinders to keep the lid in place. An Asian motif is etched into the clasp. The chest stands on 4 wooden, 1/2" tall legs which help keep the chest elevated off the ground. Makes a good hope chest, a linen or clothing storage locker, a footlocker, a memento keeper or an ... moreattic keepsake storage chest, etc. Overall good vintage condition, top shows some wear but can easily be fixed by a wicker or cane furniture repair specialist.
