I really wanted to keep these but already have a good pair of vintage speakers, so these are for sale. Sound Amazing! The previous owner must have had to strong of an amp hooked up to them- the back speaker jack panel with the dial adjustments has some light melting from too much heat, coming from the mid-range dial. ALL AMERICAN HOT ROD 1929 1932 Ford Highboy Hot Rod Roadster Tether Car 9" Exc PLEASE READ COMPLETE DESCRIPTION CAREFULLY AND VIEW ALL PHOTOS CLOSELY BEFORE BIDDING: Up for auction is an original tether or"whip" car. Made by All American Company in Los Angeles California around 1949. LA was the hot bed of hot rodding in the early post war era. El Mirage Dry Lake was going full bore with SCTA and Russetta Timing Association both holding events for land speed trials on a weekly basis. The 1929- 1932 Ford highboy roadster was the obvious choice to hop up for street or lakes racing. Any young aspiring hot rodder would want a look-alike car to race on his or her own. The tether cars. Whether powered by a gas engine or by a strong arm and tether cord, gave these young rodders the chance to live out their fantasy in miniature. The ... moreoriginal 9" long example shown here is a non-powered whip car. Called such because these cars were tied to a cord or tether and whipped around in a circle by hand. The car is clean as new and in near mint 100% original condition with all parts intact including the four original base screws. Black over red paint finish has a beautiful high luster with just one minor scratch above right rear wheel. The car was never played with outside so it does not have any of the typical scratches or gouges in the metal from getting upside down while being raced. All four original green tinted belly pan screws are still securely in place. Aluminum cap and ring style wheels, ribbed grill, E& J type headlights, and 1940 Ford style steering wheel shine brilliantly. Requisite tuck and roll interior has a perfect vintage patina. Tires are all pristine with no cracks or flat spots. Both fragile tether anchors are still intact. All dash, hood strap and license plate decals are in place and only a very minor chip in left rear tail light and license topper can be seen. The Louis Marx and Co. was started soon after WWI. Most of the early toys that were produced were wind up mechanical models or metal cars and trucks. One of the most valued Marx toys is the Newlywed house that was produced in the 1920s. They produced many other toys. But in 1949 they began making more dollhouse furniture. This is when they started to make their metal Dollhouses. The early models featured hard plastic ... morefurniture in 1/2" scale. Or as in the Marxie Mansion 3/4" scale. Later on they began making the furniture in soft plastic in both scales. The also made a family of figures marked on the bottom"Father" Mother" Sister" Baby" In 1964 they came out with The Little Hostess line. Unique and Stunning antique Mahogany and Birch Chest on Chest Highboy c. 1860's
I am offering up for auction a very beautiful antique chest on chest Highboy that was handmade 150 to 175 years ago. It is very unique with the 2 tone coloring and the intricate sunburst type design on the bottom drawer. I think this 2 tone coloring is called banded. The sunburst or compass rose type design is actually concave creating a half circle indentation. It is 6 feet 2 3/4 inches tall. It measures about 18 1/2 inches deep and 43 3/4 inches wide across the band below the very top. It has varying widths due to chest on bottom then a"waistline" so to speak( 45 1/2 inches) where 2 chests meet then the chest on top then the top piece of trim which is the same 45 1/2 inches as the middle. As you can see from the photo it is loaded with drawers! There are 3 small on top then 3 long ones below that makes up the top chest then the ... morebottom chest is 2 drawers then 2 larger drawers. I am not an antique expert. But I took some of the drawers to a well established reputable antique dealer in our area and it was said that it was a handmade piece of furniture probably about 150 to 175 years old made of mahogany and birch. The drawers are dovetailed as you can see in the photos. It has the bracket style feet. I am not certain about the hardware on the piece. The hardware looks old but the screws that hold them on are not, so the screws have been replaced. Each drawer(10) has a place that looks like a key would fit in to lock them, but this is just for decoration. It is in excellent condition showing only a few blemishes on the feet and around the bottom edge as I have shown in the photos. Up for auction is this real clean build of a huge 1/8th scale 1932 ford Highboy roadster. it sports a high gloss black finish with a darker red int and red grill insert. I also added a clean looking red pinstripe on the upper body. On the custom engine I gave it the highly detailed(six) corroborator intake with all the spark plug wiring and other details. I also gave it American racing mags with the darker insert. On the back It has real aluminum duel exhaust tips and custom round bubbled taillights. In the cockpit I've changed up a few things as well I added a 50s style two tone colored steering wheel and a Que ball shiftier knob all accented by the real looking leather seats and side panels.
