This outstanding stacking desk bookcase ... moreis one of the nicest we have ever seen. It has leaded glass windows in the top two sections below the molded top. The carved fall board has a key that opens or locks the desk section. Inside are two strong desk lid supports and a nice set of pigeon holes with a single pencil drawer-fitted interior. The desk section sits above two full width drawers. The top drawer is shaped to fit the curve. The second drawer is carved to accent the fall board. Both drawers have original brass handles. The lowest section is an extra tall one with a"blind" door or wood paneled door to prevent breakage from feet. The entire piece sits on a molded base section. Quartersawn oak is showcased through the entire piece which is in excellent condition. I believe this case was made by the Viking Company. Overall dimensions are 34 wide, 15 deep, and 69 high. Although we have sold hundreds of interesting barrister bookcases over the years, we have never seen this model before. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Condition: Unspecified Location: Somers, United States This is a great vintage 4 piece, two stack barrister bookcase made by Globe-Wernicke. Very rare “modern” design with smooth sides and top. Never had another ... morelike it. Excellent cosmically and both doors operate perfectly. It measures approximately 41-1/2” high, 34” wide and 11” deep. The shelves measure 14” high and 12” high inside, so this is large for a 2-shelf. According to the labels, they are “Pattern 813” and “Pattern 811”. Both are also marked “Grade 299”. It has a replacement base that’s a great match and is better constructed than what it would’ve come with. Local pickup only due to size and how fragile these are, sorry. I always have several bookcases and parts (see other auctions), so feel free to shop around on pickup.

All sections are the very desirable Grade 299(quarter ... moresawn/tiger oak with the medium finish) Has the very desirable ogee(curved) top and bottom. All sections are size D-10 1/4. Bookcase is ALL ORIGINAL. Original finish. Original wavy glass, original knobs on the doors. Bookcase is ALL COMPLETE. All labels are present and intact. All glass is present(no cracks or breaks) All felt along the tops of the doors is complete and intact. All scissors mechanisms are present. All acid-etched side bands are correct and present. I rescued over 20 sections from a storage room of an old Chicago school library, and these 6 sections were in the best condition. Condition of the sections is way above average for their age. After 100 years the finish on these cases has usually"alligatored" Not here. Although there are the usual scratches and chips in the finish, which is to be expected(there is a rub of white paint on the right side of one section shown in the photos) the outside finish is overall extremely smooth with a nice gloss. The very top has the most wear and scratches as the librarians slid and stacked items on top of the cases. There is also the reside from 2 old pieces of cellophane tape on the front of the top. I can find no delamination of the back panels, nor any bubbling of the veneer on the very top. Being in a library for so many years has preserved them nicely. Overall size of the bookcase is 84" tall x 34" wide x 12" deep. If you need more photos. Or have additional questions, please email me. ULTRA RARE GLOBE WERNICKE DESK WITH BOOKCASE AND DRAWER BASE IN SOLID QUARTERED OAK AND EXCEPTIONAL ORIGINAL CONDITION With the highest compliments we could possibly pay to any piece we are thrilled to offer you one of two hundred ever made by the Globe Wernicke Company slant lid desk with a model D-12 1/4" bookcase mid section and matched Globe Wernicke drawer base. Only a small handful of these ever survived. This model was owned by the Bethlehem Steel Company and used as a then start of the art portable office for various clerical employees duties when their jobs required their moving around the massive plants' building and grounds. The entire desk is in a mint model 299 original finish. Please excuse the shade on the piece in our pictures. The shadows cast by the shade did not appear so pronounced in the camera's picture ... morereview. In ingenuity of this desk's design by Globe Wernicke is in its portability. The front French flared legs are fastened by two braces on each side. They come right off and the desk breaks down into three pieces for ease of move. This is absolutely the only one of these we have ever seen much less sold. The last one even close that has surfaced was in England and in birch with a glaringly average refinishing job. Virtually the only place you can see this desk is in the old Globe Wernicke product catalogs. Undoubtedly& hopefully some made it to the caring hands of true Globe Wernicke products collectors and this model in fantastic original finish and this isn't the only one surviving. Globe Wernicke Desk Stationary Cabinet VINTAGE- UNIQUE All original. Wood but not sure of what type, mahogony maybe. Has some small holes around top sides where a metal piece had been attached. Wood is in good condition, finish is dull, not bright and shiny. I have left finish in original condition, just cleaned with damp cloth. There are two metal pieces added at the bottom of the cabinet, looks like they were put there to keep the cabinet from sliding or moving. All joints are tight. The bottom drawer is very deep at 14 3/16" inside length. Overall 8 3/16" tall; 10 7/16" wide; 15" deep. Has some minor wear overall. I n good condition. Here is an old. I am guessing 40"s Globe Wernicke Metal army green color 2 door cabinet. The metal is in very good condition for the age no dents or gashes the paint is all original army green very cool looking. The 2 handles are brass. The inside mechanism and the locking bars are missing but the doors stay closed without them. This would be a very cool shelving cabinet in Mid Century modern/ industrial era decor or even a kitchen cabinet. Dimensions. 36" wide, 72" tall and 18" deep. The shelves inside are adjustable.

Collector's piece lawyers barrister stacking bookcase with a lovely dark reddish brown original finish. This is a rare double wide colonial barrister that comes apart for a total of 6 seperate pieces. The wood is Mahogany and is grade 598 1/2 the finest they made. The doors open and slide into the bookcase to protect the bookcases. This bookcase came from the library at Marymount college after it was closed. All sections that hold the books are labeled with a special label. Says Philadelphia. New York, London, and Paris. The base is also labeled A-C Double Colonial Drawer Base. The bookcase has two desireable drawers at the base of the bookcase. The bookcase is extremely well made with thick, heavy mahogany. Vintage Globe-Wernicke Oak File Box No. 83C Junior Tray 5 1/2" x 4" x 4 1/4" in good condition. Lovely patina to the oak. Working brass hinges connecting the lid to the bottom of the box, dovetail design, some of the dovetailing does look to have been separated but still in good condition, the bottom has been repaired as it was split in two when I found the box, and the top looks have tape residue. This is a wonderful little box to hold all your treasures! I found this box in a bunch of my grandparents items and believe it to have been acquired in the 1940-50's. $250(obo) Globe Wernecki- Cinn. Ohio. Card file cabinet. Minimum of 50+ years old from a New Mexico"high plains" University. Very tite with 2-4 draw. Stackable units, plus top and bottom. They do not make quality stuff like this anymore(due to the cost and paperless movement) and the price of these pieces when you find then goes up almost daily. Golden color color. Solid Maple( I do not believe there is even any veneer on this piece at all) very nice, used condition with a few minor nicks as expected from an old college piece. Top shows the most"wear" from use with a few stains and light scratches etc. See Pic) but I would not refinish it because it has to much character!
