The Estate described it as a Traveling pantry cabinet p ossibly from a traveling store that would go from town to town and sell specialty items and goods- mid/late 1800's. It has a large cylinder with a sifter for flour and many compartments which feed from the top into the bottom that probably held sugars. Spices, etc. It also has a grinder on the side which I believe is for coffee and a hook that pulls out to hang a scale or basket from. The top has a clock that slide in and it is in working order. The cabinet measures 31 1/4" across by 18 1/4" wide and 45 1/2" tall- The table measures 41 7/8" across by 23 1/4" wide and 29 1/4" tall. The table measures 42 1/4"w.61 1/4"l and OAH is 29 1/2" The top is made with(2) 21 inch boards with 1/2" rounded edge banding and, based on style and construction, we believe the marriage of top and base are of the same time period. Vintage Silvertone 2541 Tube Battery Wood Table Case Farm Radio w/ Power Shiftr
Silvertone Model 57F 2541 sold by Sears. Roebuck& Co. Chicago; chassis 101.603 manufactured in March of 1940. This is a"farm" radio designed to be powered by a special battery such as one manufactured by Wards Airline. This battery had both the 1.5v and 90v batteries in one package. These are no longer available(at least not in original working form) As farms became electrified, Sears sold a special power supply that could be used with their farm radios and this is the one included in this auction-The Silvertone chassis 139.151 model 6686, provided the voltages necessary to power the radio. Both the radio and power supply has been electrically restored. The PowerShiftr(they spelled it without the"e" had its selenium rectifier and filter capacitors replaced, the radio filter and bypass capacitors replaced and was aligned. ... moreThe case is in good but not museum quality condition. The scratch that is visible in the photo of the tuning is not in the plastic but on the metal plate where the radio frequency is displayed. The radio works well(see youtube video below) Rider's schematics for both devices included. Note that this radio requires an external antenna; in an area with strong radio signals, this could simply be a 10' length of wire. If you're on a farm, a long wire antenna will be necessary unless you utilize what is known as an active antenna(if you need information about building one, send me a message through eBay)I am an old collector, not a dealer.
