Exceptional Mid-Century Eames Era Lounge Chair Modern
This classic Mid-Century chair has a black square metal frame with wood armrests. The laminated wood on the armrests have just a couple of small nicks. The chair has rust colored cushions on the back and the seat which are in very good condition with no tears or rips. The four metal glides are on the feet. Overall this chair is super comfortable and solid. Date underneath the chair is 1962. Back cushion measures 9 by 18.5 inches. The bottom cushion in 18.5 by 20 inches, armrest is 15.5 inches in length and 24.5 high from the floor, and the back is 31.5 inches high. Total depth of the chair is 28 inches. Set of two(2) vintage. Original(1961) and rare mid-century Herman Miller Eames"La Fonda" chair shells(no bases) being sold in as-found, unrestored condition; the fiberglass portion of the chair shell has no cracks or chips, but is missing the original shock mounts and needs a thorough cleaning(please note that all of the shells in my possession also have 5 very small holes around the shock mounts(visible within the pics) and I expect that these are original to the manufacturing(possibly as vents) but can make no guarantees of that; the fabric is intact, has no tears, but is dirty; the foam appears to have hardened. The seats can certainly be used as they currently are, but could be restored wonderfully if so desired. Herman Miller Eames Era Steel Frame Chair Orange Upholstered Marked
Here is a vinyl and upholstered steel frame chair marked Herman Miller in two locations. This chair is somewhat of an oversized chair- it is about 2 foot wide. The seat back is about 26" high and goes half way up the back of my head, and the seat depth is about 19 1/2" deep. The measurements of the chair around the base are about 25" x 22" The front of the chair is an orange color, and I believe it is vinyl. The back and underneath of the chair is all upholstered material, a orange/green very small tweed design. The chair is marked on the front of the frame with the Herman Miller logo and name, and is also marked underneath with a sticker that says inspected by Lloyd DeKoc(I think) and then Herman Miller. The front side of the chair has some small marks, pinpricks, and very very tiny slices and one spot(almost looks like ... morea cigarette burn) where the back meets the seat. The upholstery, though dirty, has no rips or holes in it. This chair is really in nice shape for its age, and needs a very good cleaning. It is very sturdy and quite heavy, I am not sure what the metal/chrome frame is made of, but it is a magnetic material. The black frame around the back of the chair is not magnetic, nor are the armrests. The chair will be disassembled for delivery and to save on shipping charges. Up for sale is an original fiberglass shell chair in a deep. Beautifully rich navy blue color designed by Charles and Ray Eames for Herman Miller. It is in great. Vintage condition, but it is used, so there are the usual small scratches. The underside grommets and other hardware are in good condition as well. The shell is structurally solid with NO cracks in the fiberglass. But there are four holes drilled in a straight line on the bottom of the chair, it was an upholstered chair and the vinyl was removed, so it may be appropriate to add a throw blanket or pillow on to the chair, but that's just my opinion. The chair has a Star base with a narrow mount configuration which you could swap out for narrow mount bases Rocker. This is a Mid century Vintage eames Krueger blue vinyl padded covered fiberglass chair. This is a 1960's or 1970's fiberglass chair. Covered in a royal blue vinyl and white tubbing around edges, with metal detachable legs. Great vintage style, label says Krueger Metal Product, Green Bay WI. In good condition for age, there are issues with the vinyl, some holes a tears and some marks and dipples, please see pictures, but I am human so I might miss something. Revealing a slightly yellowish undercoat of chrome(see pictures) the leatherette is in very good overall condition despite a minute 3mm diameter pinpoint loss on the seat, a slight 11cm-long scratch on the backrest, and a tear(3.5 cm long and 2.5 cm long) at the back of the backrest that has been professionally repaired(see pictures) The ebonised finish on the feet has suffered scruffs and scratches and the latter have been professionally restored(see pictures) However. Herman Miller Charles Eames Lounge Chair Arm Pads
Here is a set of Herman Miller Arm Pads(right and left) that go on the Charles Eames designed Lounge Chair(ES670) The arms are made out of black leather and they are vintage from the late 50's or 60's. The arm pads are heavier than the current arm pads made today and they have the 2 threaded extensions on each arm. Which are shown in the photos. This is the way they were made in that era. The arms should also fit the later version chairs. The black leather on the arms is in very good condition which no damage, no rips. What a great way to make your chair look good again. Eames Shell Chair Herman Miller Zenith Plastics Rope Edge Gold
This auction is for a rare Gold colored Eames DAX shell chair molded by Zenith Plastics Co. in Gardena. California with a rope edge. 4 large black 2.5" Shock Mounts with original metal Washers and screws. DAX refers to: D" dining height. A" arm chair, and"X" on original X-base. Lot’s of fibers. No label. Vintage original“rubber booties” with some cracking of the rubber and. The X-base is the original black with oxidation in places, but over all has a nice patina—it has not been painted. It feature original rubber booties with some cracks in the rubber and rust in places. Condition is conservatively graded about a 2.5- 3 out of 5. There is some bleed through of the color of the aged epoxy that holds the shock mounts to the base that is visible on the seat as you view the chair from above. This is a very common occurrence ... moreparticularly with the early Zeniths in the lighter colors. There are no cracks or repairs in the chair and shock mounts are original to the chair and have not been repaired. The chair has not been waxed. Clear-coated, Penatroled” or refinished in any way. I have cleaned it with a mild solution of Dawn detergent and water and a Mr. Clean Magic Eraser pad. There is some discoloration on other parts or the top surface of the chair where the original fiberglas gel coat has worn away. There are also a few deep pits it the bottom of the chair that cold probably be cleaned with a more vigorous cleaning. The shell will also mount on an Eiffel base. Dowel, Cat’s Cradle, H" base, swivel office base or Rocker. You are bidding on a vintage item with age and wear. If you are looking for a newer item in mint condition this is not for you. Modernica makes very authentic reproductions of the original Zenith chairs, although not in all of the original colors nor with a the x-base. SHIPPING: Domestic is $75.00 via UPS. Eames LKR-1 vintage wire chair with cat’s cradle base Herman Miller
For your consideration is an Eames LKR-1 wire chair with cat’s cradle base. It is pre-1957 according to the Eames office website for it’s use of jute filling) with a 1 piece(the“1” in LKR-1) fabric pad in a 2-toned brown hopsack. The chair is 100% original and as originally configured. The wire chair and cat;s cradle base are free of any breaks or repairs and are in excellent condition with only minor paint loss on the bottom as expected where the chair sits on the floor—there were no feet or pads on cat’s cradle bases. The pad has some holes and pulled strands. But is otherwise in very good shape considering it’s age. The foam rubber is dried and powdery and the jute filling is lumpy and appears to be crumbly. I can not tell for sure the interior condition of the upholstery without completely disassembling the chair. This is a 50+ year-old ... morechair and a large portion of it’s value derives from the fact that it is original. Some repair might be possible by re-weaving the damaged portions of the seat cover, but It still displays very well, and some consider the imperfections add to it’s“patina” I have seen worse examples on display in museums and Eames exhibitions like the recent Ray Eames exhibit in Sacramento. This chair would not look out of place in museum, and therefore should be viewed more as a work of art or surviving example of classic mid-century modern design, than something to sit on! The original label on the bottom attributes the chair to the Herman Miller Furniture Company. 901 W. Washington Blvd. Venice, CA which was the address of the famed Eames Office. I will disassemble the base from the chair for shipping and carefully bubble wrap the base and chair and ship it in a double thickness corrugated box. There will no doubt be some shifting of the upholstery filling and some residue in the packing of the dried powdery foam rubber. Note that I am trying to describe the condition as honestly as I can.
