I wouldn't know how to identify if it was an original Duncan table so from my research I shall say in the"style of" I believe it was refinished tho not by me.It is exactly as I bought it back in the day. I was told the chairs were Tell City tho I see nothing that says they are. I bought them because I loved the carved roses. I did recover the seats with Ralph Lauren fabric but did not remove the material that was on there when I bought them. Whether that was original fabric I do not know. Description Unusual Art Deco uneven leaf. Drop leaf table. How handy is this if you need varying table sizes? Stylish carved drop leaf table with a cupboard door(storage goes right through) and a drawer on each side. Probably dfates from either just before or just after WW2. Construction is oak veneer over softwood base. The supports for the leaves come out to the end of the tabel meaning that the personon the end doesn't have a support in the way! A really interesting piece. Dimensions are 83 wide by 34 long folded. 74 with the small leaf up, 92 with the long leaf up, 132 with both leaves up, by 77 high. Please see my multiple photos. Description: This listing is for an 18th Century American Chippendale Carved Ball and Claw Foot Drop Leaf Table. Pennsylvania, almost certainly from Philadelphia, circa 1770-90. Each board on this stunning table is fully solid single planks of Mahogany, each carefully selected for the best possible grains. They are hand planed to leave a flawless top surface, with an unfinished and uneven planed underside. The leaves hang from the table with hand crafted original hinges, uncommon with the pressure usually on these hinges, but a statement to the quality of craftsmanship in the piece. One hinge is a possible replacement. Still a period hand forged hinge, but of different dimension from the other three) The hinges are reinforced ... moreto allow originality and functionality at the same time. The top sits gracefully over its original frame. The frame has a most graceful form. With a flowing carved apron floating the front and back. The practical hand craftsmanship is obvious, where the cabinetmaker carved and finished the front of each apron, but left the back unfinished with evidence of chisel and knife throughout. Each corner is formed with a pegged tenon-mortise joint, while the frame- of primarily pine secondary woods- joins with dovetailed construction for a permanent build. The underside of the table is locked on to the top with original glued blocks. The frame sits over four cabriole legs, rolling with ease into the tendons and muscles tensed in grip. It has some of the most beautiful Philadelphia ball and claw carvings, with full details of the talons, stretched skin and sharpness of the grasping nails reaching around each perfectly formed ball. Small knicks and marks from the knife are still apparent where they carefully carved each foot. The piece boasts the most magnificent patina and depth of finish. There are 8 legs: two on each end are gate legs and swing towards the middle of the table to support the two drop leaves when extended. The table can be used with no leaves. Two leaves or drop leaves extended. Measurements of the leaves are 12" wide x 45" long. The two sections that always remain in the table are 13-5/8" wide x 45" long. The drop leaves are 23" long and 45" wide at their widest. The 8 legs are 29-1/4" high. The table has the Conant Ball Furniture Makers mark and the numbers 2021. 1869. In addition, one leaf is marked 1 in a circle with D14 next to it and the other leaf is marked 2 with D14 next to it. ... moreCondition: The table is in near MINT Condition. This table was carefully restored, when we did our best trying to preserve it’s original patina and time marks on the top are clearly seen. Because it is solid wood it was much easier to remove them and make this table like new. But we are museum quality restorers, not refinishers. Table is jointed with wooden pegs; uneven. Hand cut dovetails on the drawer and the way how it was constructed, along with early, rusted through nails makes us believe that it is a very old item, dating back to early 19th- late 18th century, but due to the provincial nature of this piece of furniture it just cannot be identified for sure and an exact date of its creation is unknown. It is a quality made item, well build and precisely fit, only three solid pieces of lumber were able to make it 42“ wide, which means that it’s wood came from about 300 years old tree; you will not able to find lumber this wide in stores anymore– all old trees are under protection of the French government now, hence they were almost all gone in 18-19 centuries, when France was producing only solid wood furniture. This offering is for an amazing heavily flame mahogany grain two drawer drop leaf on convexed eight sided tapered column leading to a four sided base standing on graceful Ogee Elephant feet. This fine work table is in wonderful condition only having some typical veneer loses around some of the Ogee feet's side profiles from crotched veneer flaking with almost 200 years of New England climate changes(an issue our woodworker will expertly address prior to this piece leaving ... moreour shop) and a slight warping to its top. Hoosier Breakfast Set - Drop Leaf Table 4 Chairs - Oak - Chestnut 1930's
Offered today is this very rare Hoosier Breakfast Set. Oak drop-leaf table and four matching chairs. This table and chair set is from the late 1920's to early 1930's. I found an ad that was dated 1931 in the book"Hoosier Cabinets" By Philip Kennedy that is very similar. This is a genuine Hoosier brand. See picture with label on bottom of chair. The dimensions of the table are: 23" x 37" with the leaves down. And 42" x 37" with the leaves extended. The chairs are complete with no missing rungs or stretchers. However. They have been repaired by an amateur and need to be properly glued. Two of the chairs have metal plates on the underside. This is a classic piece of American history. I would love to keep it. Mid Century Modern Drop Leaf Dining Table w 2 leaves & 4 Side Chairs MCC Eames
Up for bid is this Mid Century Modern drop leaf dining table and 4 side chairs. There are also 2 leaves. Nice vintage set with minor wear including some rubbing and scuffs. The previous owner had the chairs reupholstered at some point. You can probably change this to suit your decor. Though it appears to be stained as a light colored wood. On the bottom of one chair the manufacturer has"Champagne Mahogany Brown" stamped on it as you can see in one of the pictures. American Chippendale Antique Drop Leaf Dining Table, Pennsylvania or Delaware
American Chippendale Walnut Drop Leaf Dining Table. Pennsylvania or Delaware c. 1760-80 Probably Delaware River Valley. Originally One of a Pair Straight Marlborough Legs Item# 130002IWT18 The drop leaf dining table was a very prominent form in homes of the higher classes during the Chippendale and Federal periods. A working solution to the problem of balancing space with flexibility in a home that entertained company regularly. It allowed for tables to be posed as pier or serving tables against the wall, making the room large and inviting during a social engagement, these being brought out as needed to recreate a dining room. This table was almost certainly part of a pair originally. Two sets of bracket holes on one leaf evidence of clasps that would have attached to the leaves of the other table to create a solid surface. A pair of tables ... morevery similar in form, though crafted with solid board leaves, was offered at Christies in 2003( Lot 322. Sale 1189, sold as a pair for $13,145) Intact pairs of this form are rather uncommon as these were regularly broken up as they were passed down in families. The top is crafted of five boards butt-jointed with tongue-in-groove joinery assisting in all but one leaf. This probably a later solution to the uneven shrinking of the boards, secured from the underside with butterfly dovetails. The leaves hang over ruled joints, lifting on two swinging gate legs, the frame and knuckle crafted of solid oak double pinned to the square Marlborough leg. The oak rails are affixed with scattered rosehead nails to the poplar frame rails coupled with one original hand filed screw set in wells into the top on both sides, these boards joined to the mahogany front and back rails with exposed dovetails behind the gate legs. Three dovetailed walnut braces join the frame to the top, these absent several screws, the top likewise secured with three hand filed screws set evenly in wells through the mahogany front and back rails. Antique Mahogany Empire 2 Drawer Drop Leaf Stand/ Table Original Finish Description: Up for auction is this antique empire two-drawer stand with drop-leaf sides. The stand is solid mahogany and features dove-tailed drawers with rounded drawer faces and wooden knobs. This is not a reproduction piece as is evidenced by the alligatoring of the 19th century varnish. The stand shows no signs of having been repaired and no cracks or splits in the wood. There are some faint marks/scratches and dinks here and there- all commensurate with the age of the piece. Please see super sized images to appreciate the full condition of the stand.
