Crafted from solid mahogany and mahogany veneers. Everything about this fine table speaks quality and attention to detail. The craftsmanship is impeccable, the construction precise and the wood of most choice quality for pristine presentation. The large rectangular top becomes ovular when the demilune leaves raise over their original iron hinges to rest on a pair of wings that swing out from the frame of the table on either side, resulting in a large and brilliant cognac mahogany surface edged by satinwood inlay. The ribbed and glowing quality of the mahogany cannot be underscored enough. A single drawer resides in the frame beneath the projecting top; the drawer is framed with cockbead molding and is hand dovetailed in the usual manner. Utilizing secondary oak woods to make up the frame for the drawer, the bottom board protected beneath runner strips and tacked with four iron brads along the back edge. The lock is probably original, though we have not removed it to be certain, the key now absent. On the other side of the table, the wood is crafted to create the illusion of a drawer where one does not exist. Flanking the drawer and faux-drawer are satinwood veneered panels surrounded by stringer inlay, the apron of the table lined in a thick satinwood border that completes the square profile of the table top. Resting over four square tapering legs. The table terminates on bright and original brass caster feet. The underside of the structure remains untouched, the iron rose head nails affixing the underside of the dustboard to the frame of the table with a pair of corner blocks securing the legs behind the faux-drawer. The piece is in rough condition, it is missing the drop leaves and the legs have been cut down and the top is scratched and stained. It has two drawers with different knobs. As it was built for it is useless but it has been made into something different. This would make an excellent and unique coffee table, you could even make this into a window bench. Antique 1950s Porcelain Enamel Drop Leaf Table/Chair Set This is a really cool 1950s Porcelain table and chair set. I think it's considered a drop-leaf. The main top actually lifts for the wings to slide in and out. The sliding mechanism for the wings works nicely. There are a couple of spots of wear in one corner of the table that I've shown in picture 7. One of the chairs is missing the two little top caps. The metal chairs have several layers of paint on them. The chairs have been recently recovered but it wasn't a professional job. This offer is for a duncan phyfe drop leaf table. The table has the metal claw feet and a drawer on one end. The table is in good condition and is available for local pickup only at my antiques shop in Thorsby.The table measures 17 1/2 inches by 36 inches with the drop leafs down. With the leafs raised. The table measures 36 inches by 44 inches. The finish on the table top is very good except for slight wear to one corner of one leaf that I have tried to capture with the pictures. The lighting makes some of the pictures appear as if there are spots in the finish but this is from the lighting- it is not the finish. It is fine to see the table at my shop prior to purchase. BEAUTIFUL ANTIQUE WALNUT DROP LEAF DINING TABLE
This is a really elegant. Sturdy, and functional antique walnut drop leaf table with turned legs and beveling along the edges. It is 61" long when both leaves are extended and 40" wide and 28 3/4" high. Quite a heavy piece. There are leg stabilizers(see the last photo) that have been added underneath each leaf to keep the legs from shifting or leaning, though the table is very sturdy. My family has owned this table for at least sixty years and it has seen many family dinners. Discussions, laughter, and sorrows. But I MUST downsize, sadly enough. Very unusual table: This has"swing arms" to hold up the opened leaves; angle-mount. Turned legs; lower shelf& no manufacturing stamp underneath. This appears to have been custom shop made. The finish has typical minor scuffs and discoloration/patina. There are two small reddish marks from an unknown origin. Overall, very nice, receives lots of compliments in the office.
