This Rhode Island Sheraton solid mahogany rope carved drop leaf table was part of the original furnishings of an in tact early 19th Century Rhode Island estate which we have purchased the main body of its entire furniture collection. One of the finest rope carved drop leaf mahogany Sheraton tables we have had the pleasure of handling in several years-this table has a one board top and drop leaves. The ends of the table are made from solid figured mahogany with carved moldings. It flows into four of the finest rope carved legs we have ever seen terminating into original delicate pivoting caster wheels. The table is in an exceptional all original condition. It has a super mellow patina and appears like it has spent its life in a time capsule. It is 18 3/4" long with its leaves down and 40 1/2" with the leaves locked up. It is 35 3/4" wide and 20 1/2" tall. The rope carved legs(rope carving symbolizing the families fortune was made at sea-as is the case here) have carved rings at their tops. An antique 19th century primitive drop leaf table in walnut with turned legs. It measures approximately 28-3/8" tall and 41-5/8" wide. With the leaves folded down. It is about 20.5" long. Each leaf adds about 15.5" so with both leaves open, you will have about a 51" long table. We believe it is American and we do not know the maker. There are plenty of dings and scratches found commonly on antique furniture, and this piece has a particularly distressed, dry old finish. Pegged construction. This auction is for a beautiful oval Duncan Phyfe style dining set. I believe the set to be from the 1940’s. Included in this action are only the 3 pedestal table. Six casters, two extension leaves, and the 5 chairs pictured. I have a sixth chair that I will throw in for free at the time of pick-up, but it was damaged during a recent move. It is not beyond repair by any means, but it will need an experienced carpenters touch. If you are interested in further information about the sixth chair and are a serious buyer, contact me and I will send additional photos. This set is original and includes the original hardware and casters, but it has been refinished and the chairs have had new fabric installed. Pembroke Table George III Hepplewhite Drop Leaf Mahogany side occasional vintage
Pembroke type occasional table is mahogany with a shapely curved top over one drawer and unadorned legs of a George III style. Perhaps a Hepplewhite pattern. Curved reed edge detail on the top. S light nick here on the left side. And the top surface is done in a French polish. Square tapered legs. Single drawer has keyhole joint construction(similar to a french dovetail joint) and a brass plate"Clinton Shops Guaranteed Furniture" embedded on the right side. Drawer glides smoothly. Hinges and the side supports for the drop sides move well. No breaks. I note a bit of dried up hide glue at one rear corner. The hinges are well aligned and the screws appear old(irregular threads) The color is difficult to show in the photos and can best be described as dark reddish brown. English Chippendale Mahogany Ball and Claw Antique Drop Leaf Dining Table c 1780
ENGLISH CHIPPENDALE MAHOGANY BALL AND CLAW DROP LEAF DINING TABLE Late 18th Century. Probably c. 1780 Item# 411ECP29P This attractive table was crafted during the last quarter of the 18th century. Probably in England though possibly in Ireland. The incredibly wide solid mahogany planks making up the drop leaves and the top of the table are absolutely gorgeous, each with vibrant swirling grains and retaining a deep ruby color. They swing over ruled joints on period wrought iron hinges. It rests over nicely carved ball and claw feet with rather precise details- a previous owner obviously wished the table to be slightly higher to accommodate chairs, and as such had the balls finished with 1" carved pads from beneath. They were clearly quite careful about preserving the feet, not altering the carvings but rather simply applying these beneath ... morethe table. Two legs swing outward to lift the leaves of the table comfortably, making the table a rather substantial dining room piece that should be able to comfortably seat six to eight guests. This is a particularly useful form for homes where dinner parties and family gatherings are common- it can serve very attractively as a console table in the dining room or a behind a centered sofa in the living room. But when an excess of company comes over it can be brought out as a full dining table. This flexibility is what made the form so prominent during the 18th century, where entertaining large groups in the evenings was very common. Measurements: 28 3/8" H x 22 3/8" D(with leaves down) x 50 5/8" L; 65" total depth when leaves are opened; 22 1/2" H to the underside of the frame Condition Report: Top is probably a period replacement. As hinge out out on underside of one leaf does not match the hinge well of the top. Surface overall is in good condition, though one leaf has some areas of clouding and a circular bloom in the shellac from a hot object placed there. Dust and dirt included. found in a barn in an estate in PA- in a box with an old(and sadly ruined) oak drop leaf table- this auction is just for the metal hardware these parts were removed from a ruined drop leaf table. This auction includes only the following: 2 lock arm assemblies- one for each drop leaf- 2 arms. 2 arm retainers, 4 retainer screws, 2 catches, 4 bolts and 4 nuts(terminology may not be correct but see pictures for a clear view) 6 hinges and 32 screws(the 2 center hinges only used 8 screws- 4 on each hinge- first I thought I was missing hardware but the ruined table only had 4 holes for the center hinges) mechanically I am not sure how they operate but I included one picture of how it looked like mounted on the table. Going by the holes in ... morethe wood(possible I have the catch backwards? all the metal pieces attract a magnet. since the arm retainers were still mounted to a piece of the table, that is how I will mail it. The table has been hand carved from oak and has the distinctive barley twist design legs and stretchers- the ultimate if you are going for the cosey. Rustic, farmhouse vibe in your kitchen dining table. These tables were called wake tables for a reason- they were used to hold coffins at a wake after a funeral in the village. They are obviously easy to store things on due to the drop leaf system so I imagine easy to place coffins on. Despite the slightly morbid description I think it's a fascinating insight into the history of these tables. The drop leaf system means the two oval sides can come down to make this table oblong. Antique Empire Cherry Two Drawer Drop Leaf Stand, Table
Gorgeous solid cherry two drawer empire stand. Perfect working drop leaves. Nice finish on top and base, appears to be original finish. New drawer bottoms were put in and handles were new in 1935. New drawer stays were added as well. Stand measures 28" tall by 18" deep and 17" wide with leaves down, 35" wide with leaves up.
