Drexel New Hampton Court 6-Drawer Mahogany Bow-Front Buffet/Sideboard
This classic American mahogany sideboard is from the New Hampton Court Collection made by the Drexel Furniture Company. The model number is 4101-4. Manufactured around 1950. The Drexel mark is burned into the inside of the top drawer, and the back bears the stenciled identification. This piece is classic Drexel. Having four wide bow-front center drawers with smaller side drawers above the cabinet doors. The drawers and cabinet doors are faced in matched mahogany veneer with a warm, rich brown color. The cabinet doors feature a graceful oval inlay, and the case has carved corner posts. The drawers have the original Hepplewhite solid brass handles, and the doors have the original solid brass pulls. Finely crafted from solid wood. The case is in sound structural condition. Each of the side cabinets has a single removable shelf. The drawers are ... moremade from solid wood with dovetail construction and center guides to prevent binding. Mid century Drexel Biscayne king size headboard
How often do you see a king size headboard from this time period? It is not marked but it came out the same bedroom and matches the 2 chests I have listed which are marked Drexel Biscayne. Magazine advertizements referred to this as a"Utility headboard" I have always called them bookcase headboards. It is in very good condition. The finish is excellent for its age. There are no scratches or gouges. The doors slide easily. The wood needs a good cleaning which I think is best left to the buyer as I do not want to disturb the patina. Two beautiful condition collectible. Retro Drexel Declaration bedroom nightstands. Designed by Stewart Kipp and Stewart MacDougall for American Furniture produced for Drexel. It has modern design and Danish asthetics. the nightstands are dark walnut and are in great condition with only minor wear from age. Vintage Mid Century Edward Wormley Drexel Precedent Nightstand Drexel Furniture Edward Wormley Wormley has pioneered in a broad field of design. He was one of those unique designers who was sensitive to the interplay involved in selling modernism and still preserving the nostalgic touch of intimacy, warmth and detail. Wormley attended the Art Institute of Chicago in 1926. After attending there he worked for Marshall Field`s Design Studio in 1930, and then a year later he began working for Dunbar. His collaboration with Dunbar made him a household name for decades. His first Dunbar chairs. Produced in 1932, were reproductions of antique designs, but when they became popular Wormley augmented the set with new pieces to form a full line of furniture for almost every room in the house. He was given a contract under which he would produce two ... morelines of furniture each year, one traditional and one modern. By 1944, however, the popularity of the modern line had eclipsed its counterpart and the traditional series was dropped. He opened his own office in New York a year later where he remained a consultant for Dunbar and contracted out his own designs.
