Vintage 8 piece dressing table set with oriental theme Made In England
Lovely eight piece oriental themed dressing table set. Probably 1930's to 1950's in my opinion. All marked Made In England but no makers name anywhere. Unusual to see these sets with a tray. The mirror has a very nice bevelled glass in it. The oriental pictures are printed and not embroidered. All pieces in good condition except for the following points. The lidded powder bowl has no liner or powder puff and the picture is a little loose and the long handle on the hair brush has a dent in either side as seen in the last two pictures. The drawer is dovetailed. There is also gorgeous hardware detail through out(see photos) The metal beading is present on the lower shelf. And at the top of the mirror. It is missing from the lower half of the mirror. The drawer has a lock mechanism, but no ket is present. The wood in a hardwood, maybe cherry. Please note that the finish on one side is lighter than the other. The previous owner has this in a corner, so maybe they did not finish that side. A very beautiful piece! Fine Antique Sterling Silver & Enamel Ladies Dressing Table / Grooming Set
Ladies Antique Sterling Silver Dressing Table/Grooming Set In very good condition. This pretty little dressing table set was inherited from my husband's grandmother so I imagine it dates from approximately the 1920's-1930's. The handles are all in hallmarked solid sterling silver with the letters W.G.S. Ltd. A pretty design with an enamelled ivory silk background of pale blue cornflowers; it would make an original gift for a special occasion. Bristles on both the hairbrush and clothes brush are all in very good condition. Likewise the silvering on the mirror shows no marks of ageing. I have examined each piece in detail and there are two very minor flaws to note(see last two photos) The first is that where the mirror handle meets the mirror itself. A small piece of enamel appears to have'flaked' off. The second is that ... moreon the edge of the hairbrush, there is a tiny dent in the silver rim. The pot is circular in form and stands 4 cms(1.75 inches) high. The pot is made of heavy quality hobnail cut glass and the silver top is embossed with an image of a cherub and has a gilded interior. Hallmarked: Birmingham 1913. Maker: W B over Ld for Williams(Birmingham) Ld. This wonderful set made in the Art Nouveau Period and comprises of 5 pieces. All matching in date and Hallmarks. All pieces are of a substantial size. All the pieces are decorated with Flowers and fluid lines. Classic Art Nouveau. In the centre there is a circle of Guilloche Enamel. In a wonderful Lime Green. Surrounded by a beaded boarder. All the brushes are set in wood with pure Bristles(not Nylon) and have no loss. The 2 clothes Brushes. One has a softer Bristle for Clothes and the other slightly heavier Bristles for Coats. The Hand Held Mirror is in super condition with no ... moreloss to the silver back and is bevelled. This absolutely exquisite set is all hand crafted. Hand painted, finest hand painted DRESDEN Saxonian Porcelain(Intertwined SP) Part of a lady's vanity set, every small detail is perfectly executed. Both pieces are meticulously hand decorated over their entire surfaces(front, back and sides) with lovely pink roses and gold stripes. Each floral image is unique. This beautiful pair has survived a century with only a repair to the lid. This repair appears to have been professionally made and is nearly undetectable, either by sight or touch. Antique Victorian Silver Dressing Table Hair Brush Here we have for auction this lovely Victorian sterling silver hair brush. Originally part of a dressing table set, hallmarked Birmingham 1897. The maker's mark is partly rubbed, but is something&S- the only match we can find is L&S, which is Levi& Salaman. It is in good condition for its age- the brush and bristles are in excellent condition. Although they may have been replaced. The body of the brush is in good condition, with the cartouche unengraved and the pattern only slightly rubbed. It has sustained some damage in antiquity, where the handle has split and been resoldered- see last pic. It measures 9 inches long and weighs 192g. Though obviously, this is with the brush as well. The silver of the brush is hollow, and has survived well, with no major dents or cracks(apart ... morefrom the aforementioned repair) and feels quite robust, not flimsy like many hollow handled silver items of the period.
