Every aspect of it speaking ... moreto the spirit and sentiments of the Aesthetic Movement. At a time when mass production and reproduction defined the furniture industry, as the Victorian age enjoyed machined and factory processes in most aspects of the business, the Aesthetic Movement was a distinct rejection of the homogenized industry. Seeking to bring art back to the furnishings, works of the Aesthetic Movement are characterized by intricate inlays, complex veneer work, reinterpretations of 17th and 18th Century styles- particularly Chinese Gothic and Chippendale. In this example. We see remarkable influence from the William and Mary Period promulgated in the inverted trumpet pillar supports beneath the top shelf and the interpretation of bun feet. However, the case has an angular geometry that speaks of Neoclassicism across the rest of the surface, the cross-banded veneered doors and mirror reflect in the truncated prisms that flank the drawer- the angles literally bounce around the entire facade of the cabinet. These are given structure and purpose with the deeply fluted Neoclassical columns that flank either door and raise the entire case architecturally. Completing the form is a crest that is highly naturalistic and chip carved with great skill. A pierced and flowing design highly representative of the Art Nouveau movement. The veneered doors are match-booked, creating a circular vortex that swirls around the panels. Crafted in Walnut and Walnut veneers over White Pine. This is an absolute treasure for any serious collector of the fine works of the Aesthetic Movement- it is a piece you can look on and study, finding more intricacies the longer you look on it and examine its case. Some restoration work should eventually be done on it, steaming the warp out of the door and removing the glue from the pair of finials and restoring them to the top, but it can still be enjoyed in it's c

Antique Pie Safe/Cupboard with Copper Inserts on Front
This is an antique pie or cupboard with copper fronts. It belonged to my late husband's mother and he brought it home after his mother's death. I love this cupboard. But am moving and cannot take everything. The top wooden piece lays on top of the cabinet. The full width of the piece is 36 inches wide and 25 inches deep. The top cabinet is separate from the base table part. The top cabinet is 3'6" tall and the lower table part is 2'7" from table to bottom of leg for a combined height of 6'1" The cabinet itself is 14" deep and 2'8" wide leaving 2 inches on either side of it for the table base. There are two shelves inside and the middle one needs one or two support pegs to stabilize it. There are only 2 pegs now and only light items can be put on it. The back right leg is loose and should be ... morerepaired or reglued or however carpenters fix these things. But I didn't want to hurt its value so left it as it is. Please note. We have a very large collection of additional images of this piece available for your enjoyment below. Description: This listing is for a Fine Pennsylvania Chippendale Two Part Cupboard. Walnut, circa 1760-85. A finely crafted work, it features a beautiful hand carved molding around the crown, flanking a dovetailed top with nearly black levels of oxidization. Chamfered columns flank blind-cupboard doors with tombstone panels, the frame with glued through-tenon joints, locking with an original hand made iron lock and swinging open over original hinges with mostly original screws. The inside of the panels boast the rough unfinished chisel work of the artisan, shaping the panel to smoothly rabbet into the frame. All original shelves line the cupboard, the top shelf being half the depth of the other two, all shelves being permanent ... moreand sliding into the case from the back along hidden grooves. The cupboard case has wooden pins locking the tenoned joints together, the sides constructed of two pieces of solid walnut, joined at the back with pine secondary boards with traces of an early red stain, lined around the edges with original iron rose head nails. The lower case features three drawers, each with replaced hardware, though the integrity of the holes were preserved by using an old hole for the knob hardware and filling the other with a matched walnut wooden pin. An applied lip runs along the top of each drawer. The drawers feature hand dovetail construction with yellow pine secondary woods with a hand chamfered bottom. The case rests over four bracket feet, each appearing to be original(though a possible question around the right front and rear foot, as we believe them to be original but are sharper and thinner than the other two) with thin square original blocking strengthening each from behind. This is an outstanding investment grade work of art. A rare find with this level of originality and condition, and is a visually striking piece. ANTIQUE FURNITURE MAPLE FLAT FRONT CUPBOARD This is a original finish maple cupboard. Painted inside. Two upper doors have glass panels. Lower doors have wood panels, two drawers between the upper and lower doors. This measures 70" tall. 17-1/4" deep, 37-1/2" wide at the top and 36-1/2" wide in center. This one is fairly solid. By the time it gets moved around it may need a joint or two reglued. No major damage to wood. Finish on outside is original varnish. Inside looks like it has been painted a long time ago. The finish has started to dry out and turn dark. Paint on iside will most likely need a clean up or fresh paint. With the finish in the state it is and perhaps needing a little glue I am selling this to restore. This is fairly solid and will not just fall apart on you but with this type of furniture every time ... moreit gets moved you seem to loosen a joint somewhere on it. This will have a loose joint or two because of age. You could use this the way it is if you are after a primative look. Old Antique OAK Hoosier Kitchen Cupboard Cabinet Copper Counter Slag Glass Doors
Vintage Hoosier Style Kitchen Cupboard Cabinet w/Copper& Slag Glass Doors This is a gorgeous old kitchen'Hoosier style' cupboard. It has the base. The hutch and a beautiful copper topped counter that does indeed pull out on the base. The top hutch has three doors on the top part with leaded Slag Glass in green and white milk-glass. These appear to have been added to the doors some time ago when this piece appears to have been refinished. The lower part of the upper hutch have two larger wooden doors. The outside of the right door appears to have sustained surface water damage to it some time ago. The bottom base part has one large latching door on the left side that reveals a metal lined storage bin with one wire rack making a shelf in it. The right side has three drawers where the twop two right side drawers are in wood and the ... morebottom right drawer is lined in tin/metal. The counter is simply beautiful. The counter was resurfaced in a solid sheet of copper sometime ago when the entire piece was lightly refinished. The copper counter has a nice protective coat of varnish or poly on it as does the entire piece. The sheen is in a nice soft gloss. Not a shreakingly heavy gloss that makes one put on sunglasses just to look at it. This piece is on metal casters with wood wheels and is easy to move if needed. The drawer pulls appear to be original to the piece. However some of the upper hardware appears to have either been moved during the restoration or have been replaced. All the hardware appears to be correct for the piece, I just can not swear it is all orginal to the piece. The family reports that they just remember this piece being as it has always been so the restoration work done on this piece was done at least more than 40-50 years ago. If I were to keep this for my very own. I would be proud to display it in my own kitchen and show it as my own. Take that for what it is worth. I will gladly entertain reasonable offers. Has been refinished in a golden oak stain with a laqured to coat.It is in excellent condition with no broken or repaired wood. Has a wonderfull grain to the oak. Wavy glass in the top doors. Back appears to be orginial. Top section has 3 shelfs counting bottom, and the bottom section has 2 shelfs counting the bottom. The bottom door wood inserts have a bevel around them. Shelf boards and hinges are the orginial. The drawer handles and the bottom catch may be replacements but match cabinet well. I believe the top section catch is orginial. ANTIQUE PRIMITIVE TOOL CHEST WATCHMAKER'S/ JEWELRY CABINET/ CUPBOARD ORIGINAL RED PAINT Up for sale is this nice watchmaker's cabinet with a flip top hinged lid. 3 drawers, porcelain knobs and original red paint. This very nice little cabinet. It measures 20" W x 12.5" D x 11" H and weighs 15 lbs. It has 3 drawers that measure 17" W x 9.5" D x 1.5" H each. The top space under the lid measures 18" W x 9.5" D x 3" H. The drawers are not dovetailed and the top drawer appears to have been filed down to allow it to slide better. You can see this in the 9th picture. It has a little lock but we don't have the key. On the drawers. The knobs have long screws that stick into the inside of the drawers. You can see this in picture# 9 also. There are two little handles on the side that you can pick ... moreit up by. The bottom drawer has a couple of holes in the middle of it from a previous location of a handle. It's a nice red color and it's hard to take a good picture of it. As you'd expect. There are other scratches, nicks, and slight discolorations as you can see in the pictures. It's a very nice cabinet and would make a nice addition to your collection. I have an unusual pressed or stamped. Nickel plated steel lot of 8 old door latches for your consideration. These could be in nice reusable condition with a little cleaning and lube. All the springs seem to be intact and work. A little sticky on a couple. I am uncertain of there age although my guess would have been from a wooden built in cabinet or cupboard door from the late 20's early 30's. They have a deco pattern on handles. Nicely, these appear to have had a flush strikeplate application so you will be able to find something that would work more easily. Might be a nice addition for a reworked piece of furniture or cabinet/cupboard door. measure 1 7/16 inches from ctr to ctr of mounting screw holes. AMERICAN PENNSYLVANIA DUTCH SOLID WALNUT CORNER CUPBOARD CABINET CIRCA 1820
This is an antique Pennsylvania Dutch solid walnut corner cupboard with two glazed(glass) doors that dates to the 1820's. It is mostly original including the front and back. The back has 14" wide lapped pine boards with the appropriate saw markings and cut nails. There are some newer nails(probably late 1800's) added to supplement the original nails. The bottom and shelves are cut from single solid pieces of wood(17" wide) And the upper shelf has grooves cut into them to prevent the dishes from slipping when stood upright. It features hand-made crown moulding. Two glazed doors with six panes of original wavy glass in each and two solid lower doors. The glass is held in with putty. It has a wonderful scalloped lower apron and the original iron hinges. There is a single drawer in the front with wide bevel bottom and wide hand-cut ... moredove-tails. The wooden knob is held in place be a hand cut screw. Although the original wooden clips are still in place to keep the left upper and lower doors shut, there have been 4 magnetic latches installed inside to keep all doors closed. These can easily be removed if desired. I do not see any maker's marks on the piece at all, but what appears to be the name"Bolton" is written in chalk in cursive on the bottom of the cupboard. The cupboard stands 87" tall and fits into a 32" corner. It is 52" wide and 21-1/4" deep overall(at the crown moulding) And 49" wide and 19" deep. Please note that the pictures were taken in full sunlight to show as much detail as possible and the color of the wood is darker then shown in the photos. American Pine Jelly Cupboard. Pennsylvania Probably Lehigh Valley or Lancaster County. C. 1820-40 Item# 130102WPP16 This is a simply gorgeous Early American Pennsylvania Pine Jelly Cupboard crafted during the second quarter of the 19th Century. While a good quantity cabinets and cupboards of the period survive. This piece is characterized by the best of Pennsylvania craftsmanship. Featuring a single solid board of pine on the top, dovetailed along the edges with exposed joints to the sides of the case, the molding around the top is of unusually good quality. Tightly carved and pinned to the case at equal intervals, it projects over the overall square form embellished with multiple layers of molding and tight incised scratched-beading. The triple-paneled door is a work of art. Each panel deeply chamfered on the interior and set into rabbet ... morecuts in the frame. The entire frame of the door features pegged through-tenon-mortise construction, allowing the wood to easily expand and contract while maintaining control over the structure; the door swings freely on original forged iron hinges. The lock is absent and a later bracket was installed on the door to assist in keeping the cabinet closed, the round wooden knob above the keyhole likely also an addition. The sides of the case are solid planks of pine from top to bottom. The outermost backboards finished on the edges to become part of the case sides, also continuing down into full rear feet. The backboards run vertical to the case, each being tacked with neat even rows of large square forged iron nails. The interior of the case is a somewhat graduated shelved space, the full length solid planks creating outstanding depth to the cupboard. This form of cupboard is incredibly utilitarian in any home of matching decor. Easily utilized in any room: a display cabinet in the living room, a very easily accessibly chest of drawers in the bedroom, a linens and towel cabinet in the guest bedroom or dressing room and as a cupboard for the fine china in the dining room. This little hutch appears to be done in old ... morepine and may also be oak as well. You can see some of the knots showing through on the piece. It's a very heavy. Sturdy piece. Glass doors, crystal knobs and awesome old naturally crackled paint give this so much charm. I'm not sure if the paint is original as I do see some green coming through in one door but I can tell you without a doubt this is old paint. The old bead board backing appears to be oak but I'm not 100% sure. Dates back to the late 1880's-early 1900's. I do not see any major issues with the piece. It is structurally sound. It is in great vintage condition. Note a small area on top where you see some blue paint. I would just take a piece of sand paper to it and lightly sand it. The inside would look great painted white. When I bought this I liked the color of the paint but had intended on painting it white or pink for my shop. When I realized how old the paint was and saw all of that wonderful crackled paint on the sides, I decided not bother. The color is a soft beige yellow tone. Very neutral. Small Pine Corner Cupboard Pegged Chamfered Panels Burke County North Carolina
Old corner cupboard. Most likely from burke or caldwell county North Carolina, made from early southern yellow pine, all hand planed and chamfered, and pegged. The outside is nice, the inside is partially painted and could use some tlc.The inside is kind of rough in places, and would need a few nails or something to tighten or support the shelves a little better. The shelves are pieced, and a couple of the small, very back corner pieces are looser, and could use a nail or two, I just hate to add, or take away anything from original condition. the plate racks seem to be original, as they are attached with square nails, as the rest of the cupboard is. Antique Pine Ohio Jelly Cupboard, Large Heavy and Solid
This is a wonderful antique primitive jelly cupboard. It appears to be all handmade. It was purchased in Ohio and I was told it originates in Ohio. The bottom base and the top trim were replaced at some point in time. The original mid section appears to be pine. It measures approx. 52 inches WIDE x 62 1/4 inches HIGH x 13 1/2 inches DEEP. The top is flat. There are 4 long shelves inside(I provided a picture of 1/2 of the cupboard opened) I have owned this cupboard for a very long time. I never realized that it was once painted until I saw the pictures that I provided for the auction and picked up on the paint deep between the beadboards. This is not visible or obvious in person. This oak veterinary cabinet is made of oak with a tin lithographed panel with Dr. Daniels' Veterinary Medicines-Home Treatment for Horse and Cattle on the front door. The entire piece is in original condition including the paint and the finish. There is rust and damage to the tin and some wear and staining to the wood. This is definitely not a reproduction. The raised back with a mouldedcornice and shaped frieze with nailed date, below are three shelves with balustrade galleries, the lower section with pierced steel mounts,comprising a frieze drawer above a pair of doors with cartouche shaped panels, the valence with nailed trailing leaf motifs. Date:Indistinctly dated 1873 or 1878. 1873. Measurements:The plate rack is 57" x 41"x11" and the cupboard is 51"x22 1/2 by 391/2" Additional Comments:This buffet has superb colour and patina. Up for Auction Beautiful. Practical, Antique"Linen Cabinet" 1885 I purchased this beautiful antique from a very reputable antique dealer in San Francisco in the 1980's. It's original purpose was to store linens. But I took the top shelf out in order to store and hide my TV. Since the rest of my furniture were antiques this was perfect. Now that I have moved into a smaller house, and TV's are no longer big and thick, I do not have room for this lovely piece. It is way to big for the small rooms in my 1890's home. If my memory is correct. I believe it was made about 1885. I think it is American, but do not know. Everything is original to the best of my knowledge and has never been refinished, at least while I have owned it. I think the wood is pine and stained to look like walnut. It truly is a beautiful piece of furniture ... moreregardless of the kind of wood it is made of. The cabinet is in two pieces, with the top shelf lifting off the drawers. There are the usual signs of wear which give it character and signifies it's use and age. The drawers are tongue and groove and the closing latches made of wood which turn to close the top cupboards.
