Crafted during the first years of the 19th Century. It has a wonderful black paint over another layer of reddish orange, probably also a layer over the original and currently unknown color. The back of the chair has a graceful bow, carefully grasping each through-tenoned splinted spindle before diving through the single solid plank pine seat. The seat is heavily patinated, with deep grooves and wear from decades of active use. The entire chair sits over four splayed bamboo carved legs, all four of which tenon through the plank seat before being secured with a splint, each held firmly and perfectly in place with a bamboo carved H-stretcher. This is a most charming chair, in excellent condition with wonderful patina and character throughout- the early painted surfaces are probably not the original layers, but seem to protect earlier layers beneath, these quite possibly the earliest surfaces. A wonderful find for those that are passionate about fine windsor chairs. Measurements: Seat 13.5" wide x 14.5" deep. The seat sits 16" from the ground and the back of the seat is 33.5" high. Condition Report: Paint worn throughout. Probably not the original surfaces. Deep groves and losses in the plank seat. Chips and abrasions throughout. One nail, appears to be modern, on side of chair stabalizing hoop back. Plank seat split with a butterfly joint securing seat from beneath and two screws locking it in place. Chair is structurally strong, but could possibly be too weak to use functionally as a chair. Please review the images in the slideshow for a full overview of condition.

ANTIQUE MISSION ARTS& CRAFTS CHINA CABINET IN QUARTERSAWN TIGER-OAK& GLASS. SAID TO BE BY STICKLEY ❖ When I purchased this excellent cabinet years ago it was from a New York City seller who said he bought it at the Peter-Roberts Gallery in SoHo back in the late 1980's. Which was a premier Stickley& Arts& Crafts antique dealer of the time. He said he was told when he bought it that it was Stickley. I've never found a label or Maker's Mark on this one. But it certainly has the sort of quality one would expect from one of the early Stickley company manifestations, and certainly appears to play the part but I'm not entirely sure of the maker. I was actually looking for something to display my sundry copper collectibles(a few of which I've put in the photos. But which aren't yet listed. and other crafted ... morecurios& wares. But cabinets like this were used to show& store the Good China, and Craftsman-style China Cabinets from that era are generally quite popular& coveted. And you can see why! It's an awesome piece. Clean, solid, simple, exquisitely crafted from very gorgeous tight-grained solid quarter-sawn tiger-oak. Just the thing for displaying pretty much anything. They can tend to get very pricey. I've tried to make decent photos of this but I don't have nearly the camera nor set-up. It's in really decent shape to my eye. Aside from the typical age-appropriate character. Various marks& scratches here& there, etc. it looks in really good shape to me. Full-disclosure items I can spot are a small piece of the veneered back peeled off(the only part of the piece that looks veneered) but this doesn't show from the front or sides. The top has opened a small separation between glued-up solid boards(as happens with glued-up panels sometimes) two of the hinge-pins are stowed somewhere when the movers moved this(will try to find the originals) but I've put in decent-looking brass ball-tipped hinge-pins that very nearly match. Early 1900's USMC China Marine Gunboat Cabinet Card Photo Summer Linen Uniform
Offered is an original image of a"China Marine" wearing a seldom seen summer white linen or cotton uniform for tropical climates. He is also wearing a small white visor cap with a gold EGA emblem. This cabinet photo was taken on a China river gunboat sometime in the late 1890's to early 1900's. You can clearly see the Navy deck scenes going on behind him with sailors at work. The piece measures 6ft high x 21 1/4 inches deep x 37 inches wide. Back corner to back corner is 17 inches and the flat area is 121/2 inches. It is made of Inlaid Mahogany and has Dental Molding. Inside the two convex bowed glass doors are three shelves with plate grooves. Underneath the top portion is a pie shaped drawer with handles. This 1940's American made vintage furniture has an excellent satiny finish with minor mars at the edges for antique character. The table has two 12" wide leaves with skirts or aprons. This set has been in the family since it was originally purchased back in the 1930s. Passed down to children 3 times over and moved out to L.A. The set has been gently handled and respected with every ownership. Unfortunately. It does not fit the style of the new house. Matching server, china cabinet, 5 chairs plus one head of table chair with arms and a 6 person table. We have looked everywhere to try and find some sort of marking to tell us who the maker was and looked all over websites and had a semi-expert look at it and we just couldn't find anything.
