I have spent endless hours locating a source for these knobs. This auction is for 2(two) AGED/BURNISHED) base knobs. Knob width at the TOP DIAMETER is 1 3/16" TOTAL KNOB HEIGHT is 7/8" BASE WIDTH IS 1/2" These are the correct size and profile for the drawer bases for Globe Wernicke® and Macey stack units(although they work great for Gunn, Lundstrum, Weis, Danner and others as well) There were at least 8 different styles of knobs. This style was the most prominent and the best made of the 4 cast versions. It is made of polished brass and then aged to match your original knobs. The aging and burnish process takes a 5 step process and can be hazardous to perform. The aging/burnishing is done at essentially cost. See our ad for Aging Solution. If you want the knobs polished it is an additional please see the other ad. Stamped"CW 60" Item# 120011TRP10 This is a fine antique Edwardian revolving bookcase. Crafted of solid golden mahogany, the top a single thick plank edged by carved molding over two levels of bookshelves. These are set at two distinct heights(10" top, 12" bottom) that allow it to comfortably hold most average size books. The sides are crafted of four shaped mahogany slats, each secured to the case with rounded screws, achieving the breezy and transparent overall aura associated with most fine pieces of the Edwardian period. The entire case spins with remarkable ease on thick dowel system inside of the case, presumably utilizing some kind of bearing inside for to account for the smoothness ... moreof the rotation(we have not taken it apart to see exactly what the mechanism is inside, but it is very strong and very smooth) This rests over four splayed feet locked together with a forged iron cross, resting over original caster wheels. This is the perfect decorator piece for any library or study. But with it's airy proportions still being very desirable in the living room beside a large couch. It is a gorgeous piece that was built to last generations, something that you will certainly enjoy in your home for a lifetime. Hammered copper pulls with locking doors. These pulls are patterned from the original designs of Gustav and Leopold Stickley. This is the same cast copper hardware that has been re-issued by the Stickley company. These pulls duplicate the hand-hammered texture of the originals and are finished to a warm, glowing patina. 73" wide x 13" deep and 57" high. The bookcase is made from mahogany whilst the delicate inlay is made from softerwoods including rosewood and satinwood. The inlay work on this bookcase is particulary fine which is hopefully in evidence in the photos supplied. The level of craftmanship and the amount of time and skill required to make an item such as this has to be appreciated. This piece has just come back from the restorers where it had a repolish so it is ready straight away for home use and is in near perfect condition. He appears to have lived in near poverty all his life. Around 1790 he began to work in London as a furniture designer and teacher of drawing. No furniture by his own hand has been identified; his reputation rests chiefly on The Cabinet-Maker and Upholsterer's Drawing Book, 1793-1794) a practical guide for cabinet makers and their clients which sums up the refined English Neo-Classical taste of the 1790s. It did much to disseminate what has become known as the Sheraton style, not just in Britain but throughout Europe and in North America. Sheraton furniture is characterized by its careful. Antique Mission Quartersawn Oak Hale/Macey Barrister Bookcase
Great old barrister. All oak in original finish. Good patina. Some alligatoring on one shelf inside. Measures 34 1/2 wide. 12" deep and 45 1/2" tall. Bottom shelf is tallest at 14 1/4" and is labelled Macey 912. Top one carries a Hale label and is 10 1/2" tall. Center one is the same as top but is unsigned. I am certain it too is Hale. Bookcase is banded with what appears to be copper and a hammered/leopard appearance. The two top sections were scissored at one time. Hooks are there. Metal scissors are not. Glass doors do move properly despite this. All glass appears to be original. There is some warping of the wood panels in the back. Just a sign of age and has no affect on appearance or performance. English George III Chippendale Bookcase Secretary Desk Late 18th Century with Modern Alterations. C. 1780-1800 Item# 130001KSH27 This is a very attractive English George III Chippendale Antique Secretary Desk. Originally crafted during the last quarter of the 18th Century and altered during the first quarter of the 20th Century. It was probably a more plain version of the rather fine piece we see today. Altered to suit the appetite for high-style pieces during the first quarter of the 20th Century. Crafted of mahogany veneers with pine and oak secondaries, the case features two over three graduated drawers with replaced brasses over bold oversized bracket feet. The slant front drops over original hinges to rest on extending lopers, revealing a large mahogany writing surface with six document drawers over two long-thin drawers flanked on either ... moreside by an inverted graduated stack of drawers- this is a rather unusual feature, the graduation going from largest on the top to smallest on the bottom. It is crafted in two parts, the upper bookcase with adjustable shelves and glazed glass doors under a projecting crown and dentil molding. A visually interesting and desirable piece. Though not suited for collector tastes due to the alterations, this is a wonderful period secretary desk with a deep patination throughout giving it fine character. Antique English Georgian Mahogany Secretary Bookcase Circa 1800 Description: A fine English George III mahogany secretary bookcase. Circa 1800. The desk is approx. 85" high by 37" wide by 20" deep and has a cornice with dentil molding over the bookcase section which features original glass and adjustable shelves. The lower section has a pull out desk with fitted interior over three graduated drawers, all on straight bracket feet. The finish is old, possibly original. The hardware is period but is probably not original. There have been at least two different sets of hardware on the piece over the years. This is the proper style for the piece though two of the back-plates are different than the rest. The desk is in good overall condition, no significant damage or restorations and it's guaranteed to be as described.
