Exceptional Circa 1895 Victorian Ornate Oak Side By Side Secretary Desk Bookcase Offered for sale at auction to the highest bidder is this Exceptional Circa 1895 Victorian Ornate Oak Side By Side Secretary Desk Bookcase 6 ft. 8 1/4" tall Carved Solid Quartered Sawed Golden Oak Secretary Side by Side Desk Bookcase. The large Secretary Desk Bookcase has a half round mirror on the left top side over the desk area and the right top side has a double brass finial and rod gallery over the bookcase area. Everything is completely original except for the mirror which was broken has been replaced. There is a small wood professional repair to the bottom left corner of the drop front lid but that is minor and matches the grain and not noticeable. It has been completely refinished to restore its original Golden Oak finish and ready for your beautiful ... morehome. Notice the beautiful quartered sawed oak grain through out the piece and the deep heavy ornate carvings and bead work. What a great piece of furniture. It doesn't get any better than this! There are three shelves in the bookcase that are adjustable. There is one shelf below in the lower double door compartment that locks underneath the desk. Each drawer and door has a skeleton key lock with two keys included. Inside the desk is a beautiful pigeon hole interior and one small drawer with a brass knob. The piece is complete with an open shelf above the drop down desk. The piece is 50" wide. 14" deep, and 80 1/4" or 6 ft. 8 1/4" tall. The drop down lid is 22" x 15 7/8" with the inside interior measuring 10 3/4" x 22 1/2" The upper open shelf space is 12" x 22" The arched bookcase door is 58 3/4" high x 21 3/4" wide, and the bottom double door compartment is 22" x 15 3/4" A must for the American Oak collector's Side By Side Secretary Bookcase collection. When assembled, this bookcase measures about 23 1/2 inches wide to the end of the slats, 33 1/3 inches high at the highest point and 11 inches front to back at the feet. The slats appear to be made of solid pine wood, while the end standards are 7-ply wood with solid"feet" The wood is stained a sort of medium honey brown, with darker stain to the feet and slats. There are some splintery edges to the notches, scattered dings and shallow digs to the wood and an 8" hairline surface crack to the inside of one of the end standards. For auction is one vintage 2-tier Steelcase lawyers bookcase. It features two identical sections with retractable glass doors and the top cap with the Steelcase logo. But does not have a base. A base would need to be made for it, but even a simple, rectangular wood base(painted or stained) would do. It would also be ideal for adding sections to an existing stack. It is painted a silvery gray color and has light marks and scratches common to age and use. Lovely early 1900's Globe wernicke stacking quartersawn oak bookcase. 3 stacking units with a seperate contour top and contour base for a total of 5 pieces. Bookcase is stained black. All sections labeled Globe Wernicke Grade 297 which is quartersawn figured weathered oak. All sections have original bands around each unit. Each section has original brass knob on door, and each section has original antique wavy glass. All doors open easily and have original scissor mechanisims. c1909 Globe-Wernicke Stacking Mission Style Bookcase
Welcome! Well what can I can about this wonderful antique bookcase? First of all I will tell you this is all original and it has all three of its original label on each section of this stacking bookcase and they are also in nice condition. This was made by the Globe-Weniche Company c1906 and each piece stacks on top of each other. There are 5 pieces all together. There is one drawer on the bottom then the three individual glass front book cases and a top section that holds them all together. So you see this comes totally apart for easy transporting to your home. This is in a mission style as you can see that from the knobs and the hardware on the bottom drawer. The wood is very dark and as I am not an expert on these things I am not sure what kind of wood this is? The varnish on this item has crackled a bit from age so you can see it is all ... moreoriginal and has not been touched. There are a few scratches here and there but could be easily touched up. I think for being over 100 years old this is in very nice condition. This is a fine antique and it could be used for your many books or even for a nice vintage collection of anything you might like to display. Export Top” along with a series of numbers that I could not make out. Its overall measurements are 34 wide. 11 deep and 3 thick. It is made to sit on a 10 inch deep by 34 inch bookcase section. Antique Mission Oak Library Desk I can find no markings on this except a#17 in pencil in the drawer slide and a# 17 in pencil in the drawer. I assume they did this so they would know which drawer went with which desk, and does not allude to who made the desk. I got this from my wife's uncles estate. He was 96 when he passed and he got this desk from his parents estate in Spokane Wa. when they passed. It is made from solid oak and on the ends of the top board you can see that the top is tongue and grooved. Very hard to show in the pictures. I don't know tiger oak from quarter sawn oak so you be the judge. There is some what appears to be grey paint on one corner of the top. please see pictures. Someone drove 2 finish nails about 2' long into the top of one of the legs. One leg has a chip out of it at the bottom about the size of ... morea quarter and another leg has a little grey paint at the bottom of one side. See pictures. I have made no attempt to repair. Clean or restore the finish on this desk, it is in the condition it was given me in. All in all this desk is in great vintage condition given its age. The dealer we bought it from said it was over 100 years old. I have no way to verify this.however I'm sure it is. Cabinet measures: 63" wide x 13.5" deep at the base. ANTIQUE MACEY NO. 25 BARRISTER BOOKCASE & OAK DESK - GLOBE WERNICKE TYPE STACKER
I have a rather hard to find Macey Bookcase with drop front desk. Desk is in need of restoration. Lid is cuped and will not close easily, someone drilled a small hole below the lock, I assume it was to aid in opening the lid. Interior with all the shelves is in good order, one of the lid arms is missing, veneer is missing on the bottom part of the lid. Desk top is made to have additional bookcases stacked on top. Unit measures 44 inches tall by 34 1/4 inches wide by 16 3/4 inches at its deepest point. Bookcase area is 12 inches deep by 13 inches tall and about 32 wide inside measurement. Door is probably not the right one but I think it could be made to work, It is wide enough but looks like it is about 3/4 inches too short, if you added a small piece across the top it would probably work. Not sure how the slides work. Has nice pillars on ... morethe front, all in all its a pretty neat old piece and deserves to be brought back, hope someone out there can do it. I have treied to cover what i think is mostly wrong with it, I am selling with PICK-UP ONLY so if you do not like it you will not have to take it. Early 1900's stacking oak barristers bookcase. Rare Arts and Craft grade 798 1/2 Early English Oak finish. This bookcase has a lovely mission arts and craft look. Each section is labeled with the stickers that read this finish. The bookcase is 34 inches wide. 11 inches deep and about 66 inches tall. The quartersawn oak on the bookcase is beautiful and the finish is all original. 7 seperate pieces that stack on each other. Waterfall top and base. The base has a desireable drawer on it. All sections including the drawer have original brass knobs. Each section has its original old antique wavy glass and the doors open nicely. The bands around each section are original and are the dull brass trim. The top of the bookcase is in outstanding conditions with no issues. There is only slight wear to the bookcase.
