Vintage Toy Box Blanket Chest Shabby Cottage Hand Painted Folk Art 24 Long x 16 Deep x 13 High This is a well constructed chest trimmed with moldings and vintage metal cup handles. It would be a lovely place to store toys. Extra blankets, sweaters or whatever you need to store It could be used as a little side or coffee table or at the end of a twin bed. The cover sits nice and tightly despite a chip under the hinge in the back. I do not know how old or who painted this chest. I was first drawn to it when I saw the molding as it looked like an antique ice chest I have had for years. The decorative painting and handles could have been added later. I think it is oak or ash. I forgot to take a picture of the unpainted bottom before I packed it for shipping. Its not pine. It has a lot of grain. As you can see in the pictures this is a shabby ... morelooking piece. The paint has crazing. The handles have some rust, there are ring marks on the top and there are some small chips. It is still very cute and if you like naturally aged things you will like this piece. I packed it very well wrapping it in bubble. Shrink wrap and paper to try and keep the weight down. Wonderful Antique Salesmans Sample Miniature BLANKET CHEST WOODEN 1800's
This is a wonderful antique primitive miniature wooden blanket chest with bun feet. It is in lovely condition with appropriate patina. It measures 8 1/2' long 5 1/4' wide and stands 5 1/2' tall. The maker created a wooden locking mechanism so that the drawer can stay secure with only the lid opening. You can see the peg in the photos. In the up position the drawer opens an closes, in the down position it stays secure. There is a lock though I don't have the key. There is nice shrinkage in the wood that I believe is pine and maybe walnut. I just am not sure, I don't know wood well enough to state a fact. Refinished Cedar BLANKET CHEST
I rescued this beautiful. Original and authentic Gat Creek blanket chest from the back of an antique store in Massachusetts. The finish on the top was chipped, but everything else was perfect, so I just refinished the top with the original stain color and distressed the body to bring out the beautiful curved legs and embellishments. The backof the chest has the original GAT lot number and the inside has slight cedar aroma which is just heavenly. The lid closes with the push button, but the top of the lock has been removed for safety reasons, so it does not lock. The chest is in great condition and does not wiggle and opens cleanly. Solid wood with cedar lining. pad bun feet with decorative wood trim on sides and oval in center. wood bench style back of trunk is about 3" high with carved design, the skeleton key lock is original hardware( no key is included) the hinges appear to have been tampered with, lost some nails and replaced, original screws in cedar lining(top and inside of trunk) this would look gorgeous with some love, there are a few paint drips on top as shown, there is wear to bottom of feet, top edge of seat/ chest and top of back design. there is also a faint but short note written in pen on inner edge. please note vintage and used items may have been exposed to pets or smoke. thanks

Wrought iron Grab Lock Blanket hope chest box old antique key 1800's This is a hand wrought iron grab lock or blanket chest lock from the early 1800's. These Locks were mounted on the inside of blanket chests.When the lid is closed the lock grabs the keeper the chest is locked. The key must be used to unlock the lid. The lids are often broken because the key was dropped inside the blanket chest. All the parts were hand cut and then riveted together. This lock is in excellent condition with original keeper. There is very little wear for the age. The original keeper mounts under the lid. All the parts are in very good condition. This measures 5-1/2" tall 4" wide the key sleve sticks out 1" The top of the lock is 1-5/16'from front to back. The box part is 15/16" from front to back. As well as what look like brass corners Leather handles on the sides Dark. Hunter green paint over what seems to be a pressboard or very light wood, possibly pine The chest isn't very heavy for its large size. Which makes it more versatile for you. Would be amazing as a coffee table. End table, blanket chest, hope chest, hallway"tree" bench with storage for shoes or winter clothing. So versatile! Inside has a pastel yellow-ish lime green and white interior You can see the interior is a cover over the wood. Peeled in just a few places, but in very nice shape for its age! Offering this great vintage/antique metal trunk ideal for rustic. Primitive decorating. It measures approx 33 1/2" by 14 5/8" by 16 1/2" Could be used as a coffee table as the top is flat. The top opens 3/4 to reveal a papered box tray that is removable. I don't have a key and the clasp does not sit tight against the lock as shown in the photos(I did not, however, attempt to adjust it) There are also some holes in the top along the hinge which I do not know whether or not they are original to the piece and the leather handles are broken and missing pieces. Here we have a stunning antique wooden dovetailed blanket chest or kindling box. with a footed base and large square nails. circa 1890 to 1920. the overall size is 19 inches long by 12 inches wide by 13 1/2 inches tall. the overhanging lid is 20 1/2 inches long by 14 inches wide. the feet are one inch tall. the large hand cut dovetails are tight and secure. But stunning as well. large square head nails. this is what draws you to it. the wood looks to be knotty pine. it has formed a wonderful golden patina on the overall appearance. there are two brass hinges securing the lid. the hinges are not old. there are no cracks or hairlines, but does show some scratches in the wood. the footed base may have been replaced at some time, but still looks great. see plenty of detailed photos. Presented for your consideration is this Antique small blanket chest. This chest is a small chest measuring approximately 20" wide x 11 1/2" deep x 9" tall. This chest appears to have been handmade with primitive wood and hardware. I am unsure as to the exact original purpose of this chest as it may have been a salesman sample for a salesman to display to perspective buyers. It features its original tray insert inside. Overall this chest is in nice condition for its age. It does exhibit wear associated with age however it also features a one of a kind look that can only be accomplished through years of service. Antique Primative 18th Cen. 6 Board Blanket Chest Green c.1790 Rose Head nails
PICK-UP ONLY! A rare. Old, authentic six(6) board blanket chest found in South Carolina. Based on the construction and the rose-head nails, the chest(blanket box) has been dated at around 1790. The boards are made of pine and in surprisingly good condition. There are a few signs of wear. Such as some of the trim is missing from the bottom and top, the locking mechanism is missing and one of the strap hinges is not attached. Also, the till is missing. The hinges are hand made(forged) individually by a blacksmith. The original nails are also individually made by a blacksmith, there are some other nails that have been added later, some for the purpose of attaching some sort of lining, possibly, most of the original nails are in place, I took a photo of 2 of the rose head nails that were in the bottom of the box, one of them appears to be for ... morethe loose strap hinge. There are at least two modern screws that I found. One was put in one of the hinges and another was put on the bottom board to help secure it. The chest is very sturdy and strong. not rickety at all. You can sit, or even stand on it(not that I would) I am asking a fair amount for this very old work of art and important piece of Americana, but I will entertain all reasonable offers. As for shipping and delivery; I am not prepared to ship this large box. With a width of over 42 inches(height and depth are both around 17 1/2" I do not want to try shipping this. Primitive Hand Made Blanket Chest by Peter Kramer Estate sale find. This is a nice original blanket chest made by custom design furniture maker Peter Kramer. It is stamped on the bottom with his name. The top has a beautiful wood patina that looks like it has years of use. The sides are painted a country blue with floral painted decoration on the front. There are cotter pin hinges and fancy cut out boot jack sides. On one side is a long drawer with hand cut dovetails. It is a newer piece with great early detail. In very nice condition. Ready to use as a small blanket chest, it would also make a great coffee table and is painted on the back as well. The trunk measures 30" by 13" on top and is 19" tall. From the Peter Kramer website. Preserved in nearly untouched original condition Item# 1402BQS21PA This is a very fine and remarkably well preserved blanket chest with a delightful flame painted original surface. The whole executed very skillfully to imitate match booked mahogany veneers. Originating from the Southeastern counties of Pennsylvania, this chest was crafted in the second quarter of the nineteenth century of solid Cedar primary woods and poplar secondary woods with some white pine secondary woods. The molded edge is affixed to the top with wooden pegs around the perimeter, this lifting over original iron hinges(retaining original hand filed screws) to reveal a clean ... moreand large interior. The till on the left has a panel beneath it, originally lockable but now easily opened by pulling to reveal two small drawers, each handsomely crafted with tidy dovetails and nailed bottoms, retaining their original turned wooden knobs. The bottom of the case is attached to the sides with large wooden pegs driven through the underside into the frame, each corner having a square wooden block affixed with square iron nails into which the large dowels of the feet are sunk. The feet are beautifully turned balls topped by a sharp ring, each well worn and attractively patinated. For anyone passionate about painted Pennsylvania antiques. This is an absolute treasure. Nearly untouched and retaining originality in every aspect of the case, this is an outstanding addition to any classically styled interior. To the best of our knowledge this chest was made in Bucks County, PA. It is entirely made from 6 boards. Is dove-tailed, and has early square nail and wood peg construction. The chest is 45 1/2' long x 18 1/4" wide. It is 20 1/2" high. It has a 15 1/4" high interior and stores quite a bit. The wood has a nice patina and a lovely feel. We do not have the key. We are selling because we are moving. It has been in a smoke free home.

Even the bottom! Not sure which type of wood. Has a walnut richness& depth to it, or maybe cherry? In any case, these boards used to make this chest came from a very old, huge tree. The construction is gorgeous. Beautiful dovetailing, the classical legs look hand-turned. The moldings look like they may have been hand-planed, certainly the bottom shows signs of hand-planning. Lots of character to this chest. Feels like it could have been in an old home for generations. The surface shows plenty of living history& use, lending this chest a very rich, lived-in quality, as opposed to formal& untouchable as sometimes old chests can be) ... moreI've tried to show the aged patina and surfaces in the photos. Very charming in its worn qualities, but solid, expertly crafted to be used and enjoyed, its lasted for the ages and will last many more. Looks like the heroically wide board comprising the top shrank a bit width-wise(wood wasn't so kiln-dried in those days) So in this season the top is tight& rests just shy of level, perhaps the dry cold winter for a piece made south of here, a little trim would likely fix this permanently if you'd prefer, but it all looks great to me! It's an excellent size. Measuring about 24" high, almost 36" wide& nearly 18-1/2" deep. UPDATE REGARDING SHIPPING: This item should ship UPS. Antique Primitive Lift Top Two Drawer Country Sheraton Cherry Blanket Chest
This wonderful early 19th century chest exemplifies many forms of old world wood construction. The lid appears to be pinned mortice and tenon. The sides and drawers are hand dovetailed, and the base is mortice and tenon. The drawer bottoms appear to be hand planed and fastened with square nails.The hardware appears to be original, but the latch is missing. Judging by the edges and evidence of past screw holes, the lid appears to have been turned around. You can also see that a latch cut-out is now at the back of the lid. All of the wood is solid and at least 1" thick. This a very fine antique that measures 44 inches long, 20 inches wide, and 31 inches high. Originally found in central Illinois west of Springfield, now available for local pick-up only in Elgin, Illinois.Thanks for looking at my auction.
