It appears to be skillfully crafted by hand. I am unaware if the red paint was original or added at a later date. The entire sample is constructed out of wood. Antique large cut glass vanity powder jar RW&S Wallace sterling silver lid
This is a beautiful piece. As you can see in the photos. The large cut glass jar is quite heavy& in excellent condition, with no chips or cracks. The sterling lid is also in very good condition with no dents or dings, a little tarnish along the inner edge. The lid features lovely embossed rings on the top& incised florals extending out on either side. Sounds perfect, which it almost is, except the 2 pieces didn't begin life together. They go together perfectly, they certainly look great together, but the lid opening is larger than the opening of the jar, so it fits loosely. As a display piece, though, it couldn't be better, it really looks impressive. I would date this right around the early 1900's. Their line of sterling items included over 20 patterns of dresser sets, picture frames, cigarette holders, bowls, baby items, candlesticks, napkin rings and more. They were primarily manufacturers of sterling items, however they did have a small line of silver plate items. In 1958, they purchased the Frank W. Smith Silver Co. and today the Webster Co. is part of Reed& Barton Silversmiths. silvercollecting.com) Up for auction today is an elegant antique Webster Company Sterling Silver Vanity Dresser Set. This 3 piece set consists of a mirror. Brush and comb. The mirror is approximately 12 ½ inches long and 4 ¼ inches at its widest. The mirror itself is beveled glass. The ... morebrush is approximately 9 ¾ inches long and 2 ¾ inches at its widest. The comb is approximately 6 ½ inches long and just under 1 ½ inches tall. Each piece has an empty cartouche, no monograms. As you can see in picture 12, the combined weight of these pieces is 465 grams. As to exactly how much of this weight is sterling silver, I can’t really say. The condition of this set is quite good. All pieces are hallmarked Webster Company Sterling(see pictures) There is some light spotting of the silvering on the mirror. Mostly in the bottom bevel area. There are some dings to the brush and mirror that are visible in the pictures but overall they are in great shape given their age. As always. The brass bands and hinge are tight- opening and closing nicely. The box is in very nice antique condition. With no cracks, chips or stains. ANTIQUE CHARLES BOYNTON 1913 STERLING SILVER SHELL FOOTED VANITY BOX PIQUE 5.25"
FEATURED HERE IS A SPECTACULAR STERLING SILVER AND SHELL PIQUE VANITY OR TRINKET BOX. It is weighted to keep it stable. The bottom is not solid but a leather covered cardboard material. There is a metal weight under the pink silky fabric. The fabric is aged and could be replaced or left as is. It has three legs and a fleur de lis pattern above each of them. The shell is also in great condition with a couple of water drop spots as shown in some of the photos. It is very three dimensional looking. I have only lightly polished the silver and left the light and dark areas. I'm sure that it will all polish out. It is fully hallmarked on the top pieces as well as the bottom piece. The hallmark is for Birmingham but the maker's mark is a firm that was located in London. Overall dimensions are: 5.25" in diameter and approximately 5.5" ... moreincluding the hinge. It stands 2 5/8" high. CHARLES BOYNTON COMPANY. LONDON The activity was founded by Charles Boyton who was apprenticed in 1807 to William Seaman. Hull's Street, St. Luke's. He registered his first hallmark in London Assay Office in 1825(free in 1827) The workshop was active at 12 Europia Place. Moving in 1830 to Wellington Street, St. Luke's. Further marks were entered in 1830, 1833, 1834 and 1838. From c.1849 the firm operated at Northampton Square. Pretty Antique Nippon Porcelain Open Handle Small Vanity Pin Dish Trinket Tray Hand Painted Landscape Japan Estate item. From my Mom's estate, circa 1900 No artist mark. Green backstamp"M" in wreath(Morimura Bros. exporter) Hand Painted Nippon" 1891-1921 Measures: just over 6 7/8" by just shy of 4 1/4" by just over 1/4" tall Cream/light yellow background. Primarily earth toned landscape scene in greens, tans, brown, with touches of black and reddish/brown, brown rim Pierced. Open handles This auction is for one pretty antique Nippon(Japan) hand-painted porcelain ladies' vanity pin dish or trinket tray. This item is from my Mom's estate. Inherited from my maternal grandmother, and may have been used, although it does not have any significant wear. This dish or tray was packed away in my parents' ... morehome for over 50 years, only recently unpacked. It has a generally rectangular shape, softened by gentle scallops, and pierced, open handles. The tray was hand-painted with a landscape of bushes, trees, grasses, and a windmill, on either side of a river or lake. The colors are mainly earth tones, accented with black tree trunks and a couple of bushes done in a reddish/brown, which shows more purple from the camera flash, which also makes all of the colors look brighter than they are. The piece has a softer look in person. CONDITION: Good to Very Good antique. Pre-owned, possibly used condition, with no chips, cracks, crazing, or repairs. There is very little wear evident. In the close-up photos I see some little pinpricks of light in some of the painted areas. These may be surface wear or places where the paint didn't cover completely; I can't be sure. They are extremely tiny and I can't feel them. The brown border is a little lighter in some areas than others, but it looks like slight differences in the opacity of the paint rather than wear. Antique Decorative Vanity Tray Plate Purple Floral Design possibly Victorian
Up for auction is a pretty antique china or porcelain tray or plate from the estate of my grandparents who were born around the turn of the century(c. 1900) and may have gotten it from one of their parents. It likely dates from somewhere between the Victorian period and the 1920’s. This off-white tray has an irregular shape and measures approximately 6½” by 9¾” It has a painted purple floral design with green leaves. There is a small spot where a bit of green leaf glaze is chipped off and some crazing to the finish(see photo#9) I’m not sure what this would have been used for—maybe a vanity tray. A bone plate, or a celery tray? No maker’s mark of any kind. This is a very stunning Vanity Dresser in impeccably restored condition. The long beveled mirror in center swivels. The oval beveled mirrors on each side swivel inward(back sides are finished) all mirrors have been re-silvered. A piece of veneer on the top right about 2" by 1-1/2" has been replaced(see photo) and there is an area on bottom of oval mirror on the right measuring about 1" by 1" that has been filled, see photo) It has ornate claw feet on legs as well as on each support under the mirror. Victorian? Art Nouveau? Antique Angel Motif Vanity Mirror 15" Wide x 13.75 High
Lovely Antique Tabletop Mirror. That someone spraypainted blue highlights on a brass looking painted background(it still looks gorgeous) I am not sure if this is brass or bronze or another metal. The stand is 15.25" at its widest point. With the mirror in it it is 13.25" tall. The mirror itself is beveled and 12" across. There are scrathes on the mirror and the edges are chipped in places, but it reflects and is totally useable. There is a lovely arm that stands the mirror upright. I don't know the age or origin of this piece but it caught my attention because it was so unusual. Purchased from an estate. Shipping includes handling.

This auction is for an Antique Lighted Make Up Mirror. Unknown age. I purchased this at an estate sale and was told that the owner had purchased it at an antique store. It stands about 13 ½” High and about 12 ½” Wide from Light arm to Light arm. It appears to be Brass and does need cleaning/ polishing. The Mirror is 8” in Diameter and swivels around 180°. One side is regular and the other side is magnified. The mirrors on both sides are discolored from age but have no cracks or chips. Also. Where the mirror portion fits into the base, it is a little wobbly and will need to be tightened. On either side of the mirror are arms which hold the lights. They take the small base light bulbs and I have tested them and they do work! However. Bulbs are not included. The plastic covers around the lights do have cracks. I believe this to be cast brass. There is a small iron loop to hang on the wall if desired.It has imprinted marks"P.E. Guerin N.Y. and No 298. The brass looks in very good condition. The mirror appears to be in good condition for being from this era. Some spots on the mirror, please see the photos. P.E. Guerin N.Y. made fancy metalwork hardware etc since 1857. Antique Victorian Style Hand Held Mirror Vanity Mirror with Medallion- As Is. About 13 1/8" long. 5" beveled glass mirror(5 1/4" including frame) Obviously. This once-beautiful item is damaged: glass is broken(I've left it here to show the beveled edge. But would be willing to remove the glass before shipping if desired) handle is bent in such a way that when the mirror is glass side down on a flat surface. The far end of the handle is over 1" above that surface. the bending of the handle impacted the frame that holds the glass. Pulling the frame away from the glass, especially at the bottom near the handle. the same accident has also caused a bend in the back side of the mirror: there's a dip in the metal. Just below the medallion, and the medallion itself is tipped. the picture on the medallion has been rubbed ... moreoff in the top center. it needs a careful cleaning. I don't know whether this can be repaired and the glass replaced. But what a beautiful mirror it could be! On the plus side. I noted that there are five floral-design tabs that hold the mirror in place. These are all intact. A friend(born 1940) was given this mirror. Her mother's(I don't know its history before that) When it broke, she threw it out. I rescued it over 50 years ago, but have never followed through with repair. I won't be able to ship on April 19 or 20. Please keep this in mind when paying for items. I'll ship until 5 on April 18. And again on April 21. Thanks.
