The trunk also has two latches, one on each side of the main lock, that are a unique design and work well, although they are covered with a fair amount of surface rust. The trunk also has other label remnants on it from travel, as well as a partial guarantee label inside the lid.

Nice Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is a really nice complete refinished steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900. This beautiful trunk consists of poplar base wood with ash or oak outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. Considering the age of this trunk. The wood is in very nice condition. It does have some typical stress cracks which are found in most all of the trunks that we refinish Here are the trunk's di mensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 21 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 inches. We are calling this a flat top trunk, although there is a very slight factory arch to the top which may be noticeable in the side view picture. ... moreThis one has a wonderful combination of metal, wood, and leather, no plastic parts to break. This one comes with the original signed working lock. It is signed, Yale& Towne Mfg Co Stamford Conn U.S.A. We have matched up a key that does work properly with this lock. In addition to this nice original lock, it also has some nice original fancy front latches that do work properly since the springs are still intact. This lovely trunk originally had leather straps with buckles. They were eroded away when we received this trunk, so we have run a nice pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top in the very same location where the original ones were. We actually have run this pair of straps under the original strap hold downs or keepers that we have repainted. Since the metal on this trunk is not brass, we have brush painted it by hand in black and gold leaf. The edge banding is made up of some type of leather or pressed composition. We did fill it where some of it was missing and painted it black also. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. It measures 14 1/2" long, 8" wide and 5 1/2" tall. It has obviously been well used which is understandable if it was a child's toy. It has some condition issues that I have tried to show in the photos. There are two pair of baby shoes, one crocheted and is 3 1/2" long and one vinyl( that has a size"2" and"Made in USA" on the bottom and is 4 1/2" long. There are 6 pair of doll shoes, 5 appear to be leather, some quite stiff. There is one odd shoe. Two of the pair are ballet slippers, one is satin. The smallest is 1 3/4" long and the longest is3" 3 pair have snaps and 3 have ribbon ties(one is missing a ribbon) There ... moreare two tiny purses made of cloth with gold metal clasps and chains and satin lining. They are 2 3/8" from the top of the clasp to the bottom. There are two tiny fans made of cloth and stamped"Made in Spain" They are 4 1/4" tall and 7 1/4" wide when opened. The doll clothes include several dresses, bibs, a lace hat and camisole, etc. all sizes. The baby clothes include a set of pantaloons with top, a bubble suit, top and diaper and an embroidered dress, matching slip and bonnet. I may have mixed the doll clothes and the baby clothes as it is hard to tell with some of them. Some are stained, none have been cleaned as I don't dare try. Large Square Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Key Air Force
Air Force Military Band Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock and Key Here is a refinished flat top steamer trunk from the Air Force. This one had labels on the exterior that gave reference to the Air Force and it had"218 Band" painted on the canvas. It probably was a trunk used by the Air Force to carry around a band instrument. We have taken some pictures of this label and writing on the canvas. We will be including these items with the trunk when it is sold. Here are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 35 inches. From floor to top 20 inches. And from front edge to back edge is 35 inches. This unique trunk is the second one that we have had to refinish out of about 1500 trunks. It is not very common to find a trunk of this size and style. The trunk is made up of pine ply base ... morewood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood does have some older character marks or beaut marks which include nicks and dings on the wood in various places. The trunk maker used a lot of cap metal on the edges. Probably to keep this trunk from being damaged if it got struck on the sides. The metal parts that make up this trunk are not brass, so we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. This large trunk comes with a signed working lock. It is signed, Excelsior" We had to remount the lock since it was loose when we received the trunk. The lock works since we have found a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The front and side latches also work, although we did have to replace one of the side latches. It is somewhat similar to the other three. This large square flat top trunk could serve nicely as a coffee table, especially if you have a sectional sofa. It would fit right in the 90 degree area in front of the sectional. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with Amish made black leather straps. Antique Primitive Pine Sugar Chest with Bracket Feet Lock Americana Trunk Brown
This lovely primitive sugar chest came out of an old house here in Savannah. Georgia. It was found lined with a layer of newspaper dating from 1839-1840, so we are guessing this piece dates to the early part of the 1800s. The actual chest appears to be made from pine, which as far as we can tell is a bit unusual for a sugar chest. The box sides/top are all made from one slab of wood, so it is made from old large timber. The chest has one large deep compartment and then a small drawer in the bottom, each with a lock. We do not have the keys to the locks. It has low, simple bracket feet. The hardware is old, but most likely not the original, as the chest came with one of the original knobs loose inside. The knobs that are on there now are similar to the original. It was also painted with a brown wash at some point. This is an original steamer trunk that has been minimally restored to functioning condition. It has four drawers on one side of the interior and a closet to hang clothing on the other half. All four drawers have been restored. And lined with vintage magazine ad clippings to show the different eras. The wardrobe side is lined with world maps and also original newspaper clippings from the year 1942 showing classified ads for that era. The exterior has been stripped to the original wood then sanded and stained with varnish for a glossy finish. It is partially lined on the exterior with cowhide. Gorgeous Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps& Buckles. Working Lock With Key, and Interior Tray Here is one of the nicest. Fanciest trunks that we have refinished so far this year. This flat top steamer trunk should date back to the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. This trunk maker did a nice job of running lots of slat boards and metal banding on this trunk. This beautiful trunk consists of pine base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane. The wood has lots of older character marks or distress marks which have accumulated mostly onto the outer slat boards. There are also some typical stress cracks in the base wood, although the trunk is still sturdy. Just about all of the trunks that we refinish have older distress marks and stress cracks. Here are the ... moretrunk's di mensions: from left to right across the front is 32 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 23 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 20 1/2 inches. A unique feature on this trunk that you don't often find are the five slat boards running across the top. Most trunks have three or four, but not very often d you get five. It also has the three metal bands running up the front and across the top, and you usually don't have that many bands of metal on most trunks. Due to the slat boards and metal banding, it gives this beautiful trunk sixteen wooden sections to the top and sixteen wooden sections at the front of the trunk also. This beautiful trunk comes with the original working lock. We have matched up a key that does activate the lock mechanism. The metal parts that make up this fancy trunk are not brass. Since they are not brass, we have brush painted the metal by hand in black and gold leaf. This trunk maker used a lot of nice hardware when making this trunk. Up for auction is a superb MATTHIAS GIRMSCHEID lidded b eer stein. This is an earthenware stein. It has the traditional raised relief design. Which is hand painted and features a hunting scene of a man and his dog and rifle out in the forest w ith a couple of deer and stag on alert. An e laborate forest with pine and oak trees. Oak leaves, and acorns cover the body of the stein painted a dark green. There is also a boar's head and bugle. On one side of the stein is written" Frischer Trunk L abt Jägerblut" and on the other side is"T hut auch andern Leute u gut. Wh i ch translates as" A drink refreshes a hunter’s blood" and"I t also does good for other people" The pewter lid has a detailed raised floral relief. The hinge is an open five ring design common after circa 1895. The bottom of this piece ... moreis embossed with the mold number"707" and"Germany" There is also embossed a date code of" 7" and a"crossed check" mark that is most likely a quality control mark. The mold number"707" is also on the stein body right above the handle(this is circled in blue in photograph 9) Below the rim is embossed the 1/2 liter capacity mark. This capacity mark is identifiable as a Girmscheid mark. This stein stands approximately 7 inches tall without the lid and 9-1/2 inches to the top of the pewter lid. It is approximately 2- 15/16 inches across the top rim and 3- 7/8 inches across the pedestal base. The capacity is in excess of 1/2 liter. This piece is in excellent used condition. And considering its age. It is in magnificent condition. The raised relief scene is in very good condition with a few scuffs of nicks to the design. These are circled in red in photographs 6. 7, and 8. There is also crazing on the interior of the stein and on the glazed portions of the exterior. Where the stein body is painted. Crazing is not visible. The pewter lid and hinge are in excellent shape. There is a little bit of movement(about 1 mm) where it is attached

It is very old as you c an see in the un-retouched photos there is very fine. Thin dovetailing along with square nails with oxi dation around them. The hardware is very old and no screws are used anywhere. It is solid construction. There was. At one time, a small box mounted inside to s tore small items. The dimensions are 3 ft long x 17" deep by 19" tall. I do have the two bra ce pieces which you can see the outline for on the under side of the lid. Antique dome top style miniature trunk. The small trunk may have been a child's doll trunk or possibly a salesman's sample. The brass lock has patent dates of March 69 and April 77. The circa 1877 trunk measures about 15 1/2" long x 10" wide x 12 1/2" tall. As pictured. The trunk has the original leather handles and interior tray. The exterior of the trunk has stamped metal with flower designs. The antique trunk is in original condition with leather intact handles and rollers on the bottom. No rust through was found on the metal. The interior paper has wear and the tray has old inactive insect damage. There is no other insect damage to the trunk. Only the back side of the tray. Gold Rush/Civil War Era 5 Band Stagecoach Antique Trunk
This is a very nice 5 band Gold rush era to Civil War era travel trunk. 1850s to 1860s) The Iron bands are secured with over 75 very large Brass head nails. The original leather covering was missing when I started working on this. But the wood beneath is beautiful. Not only beautiful, but the sides, top, and bottom are all one piece each. I re-made the original interior(see before picture) and re-lined the interior with it. This was done as well with the handles, and lid lift as well. The interior has a nice tray and the trunk moves easily on its original Iron casters. The original lock works well and a key is included. This trunk measures 26"long, 17"wide, and 16" high. This is a restored ca.1855 embossed black leather-covered Jenny Lind stagecoach trunk. It has brass clad steel straps and the original hand-made brass buttons. It has a fancy brass lock plate and a working Key. The handles and straps have been replaced. There is a small area of leather missing on the right side of the lock plate. It is 26"x 17"x 16" high and weighs 30 lbs. The interior has the original bonnet box compartment. Fold-down door with a money pouch and a lift-out tray with small leather pull handles. It has been papered with a lovely victorian floral rose print. This unusual trunk is in very good condition. Please look carefully at the photos, no returns. I get most of my items at estate auctions and sell them in an"as found" condition. I do no repairs. Alterations and very little cleaning. This is done in the belief that most buyers prefer to receive them as original as possible. Because the items I sell can come from anywhere. I can't guarantee they all come from smoke free environments. DESCRIPTION: The existing color is mustard but there are several colors underneath. Including a coat of blue and another coat of salmon. One of those two is probably the original color of the chest. It is not a dove-tailed chest but it's tight and sound. It does have damage on one of the corners of the lid(see photos) and there is some evidence that some gouges on the lid were filled at one time, and not an expert job. The piece is old enough that the the hand plane marks can be felt on ... morethe interior. The piece probably is no more recent than the mid 1800's and could be older. It is about 47" in length, 16" in width and about 17 1/4" in height. It comes straight from a farm barn near Odessa, Missouri. The metal handles are original but the hinges are not and do not match. Please do not ask for this item to be shipped. It is for local pick up only. No exceptions. A handling charge of $1.50 is included in the domestic shipping costs. This is a vintage piece of luggage that is in used but good condition. It is an extremely rare find and rarer to find in this condition and with key. It is blue slim steamer trunk with blue leather trim and leather handles. The trunk opens up and locks in place to allow for clothes to hang from the hangers. The bottom area has dividers and ribbon ties to secure your items. Both sections have a cloth cover. The bottom has snaps to secure it to the bottom of one of the dividers. This trunk is absolutely adorable. It would make a great display piece, end table, or would make ideal storage. It is also quite usable but it is old so I would handle with some care. This is a rare 19th century wooden trunk in wonderful condition. This wooden trunk has a rich. Dark hue and is bound with iron straps. The rich patina and rivets attest to the age of the trunk. The hand forged handles on each end of the trunk are in perfect condition. The heavy iron hinges and latches are reminiscent of medieval iron pieces. The interior of the trunk is in very nice condition and features fine natural wood. This trunk is still in spectacular condition because it was built by skilled craftsmen. It remains a strong and sturdy piece and has no real damage of any kind. It measures 49 1/2" long x 28 1/2" wide x 20" high. I believe the original latches were altered at some point, but the trunk is all original and will be a fine piece for many years to come.
