Gorgeous antique Chinese Carved Camphor Wood Chest in exquisite condition with original lock and key. Sliding top tray and side storage box. Commonly used as a blanket trunk as camphor wood is a natural bug repellant. Brought back from china by missionary great grandparents around 1920. Chest is 37 in wide, 19 inch tall& 18 inches deep. Still has slight original scent of the camphor wood. Brass lock has makers marks. Key is also original, it turns the lock, but the top catch it would lock is no more, if it ever was. the front brass lock does set in place, so chest can be locked with a thin padlock if desired. I believe it has the original stain finish and aged patina. Each side is made from a wide single chestnut plank board? Growth this size is becoming increasingly a thing of the past. Antique Black Steamer Travel Trunk Leather Handles on Each End Front Latch NEAT!
This auction is for a vintage steamer trunk. I think this is the right wording for them. This is black, hinged lid, leather strap handles on each end. Two clasp closures on the front, the main lock is missing the bottom as you can see in the photos. The inside is papered. This is worn and discolored, it is the original. There is a wooden bar on each side where the shelf would sit, but is no longer with the trunk. Measures right at 36" wide, 21.5" deep and 24" tall. It has weight to it! Due to the size and weight it will be available for pick up only. This is a nice piece of history. Coming from a smoke free home. Good luck and happy bidding!

Antique maritime box/trunk
This great looking trunk-box has had its hinges and carrying straps replaced/ no original hardware. Per the pictures. The top has considerable wear on it but is age appropriate. All the sides are in excellent condition for its age. It sits at 1 ft tall, 26 3/8 inches wide, and 16 inches deep. Left side of the box is marked R N and the right side is marked V R, per third picture. A very nice piece for any meritime collection!

ANTIQUE VICTORIAN 1800s DOME STEAMER TRUNK CHEST WOOD 4 ORIGINAL COMPARTMENTS
We are pleased to offer this very nice. BEAUTIFUL antique VICTORIAN steamer trunk. The chest has a domed top and is wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim and leather side handles. This wonderful trunk has an UNTOUCHED, ORIGINAL INTERIOR. The interior is lined in decoupage fashion. It has 4 compartments that are each defined with a different decoupaged portrait. They lift up(the top compartment lid lowers) for storage but they are not the"lift out" removable type of replacement trays. They are constructed of a heavy cardboard type material and have hooked closing mechanisms. The largest compartment is the lower compartment. It is accessible by lifting the sides of the center compartment. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition with very little restoration. The leather handles ... moremay have been replaced at some point as they have an aged patina but are in excellent condition. The trunk has the original locks but has no key. There are two clasp closures with locks on the front with a large center lock. There are 4 small wheels on the bottom of the trunk for easy transport. They are in good working condition. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this chest. The interior is aged and is in untouched and unrestored condition. It is quite lovely with no major rips or tears to the decorative paper lining. The trunk measures 30" wide. This is a ca.1890 antique flat top steamer trunk. It is steel-covered that has been painted black and floral embossed dark green and bound with oak slats. All of the steel hardwear including the brass lock and the latches are original. The leather handles have been replaced. The key is missing. It has fancy embossed slat clamps and two fingered edge clamps. The bottom has four roller wheels. It is 30"x 18.5"x 23"tall and weighs 45 lbs. The interior which is all original and has not been touched. Is fitted with a lidded tray, hat box and three lovely victorian prints. The only part that is missing is the lid for the right hand box. Beautiful Victorian Era Steamer Trunk. This trunk has been conserved or restored. Has had quite a bit of work, but the only thing that has been added& isn't original to this trunk are the leather handles. Everthing else is original to this particular trunk The trunk had 3 coats of paint that were removed from its exterior. Afterward it is was polished witha metal polish, there is still some patina, after 100 plus years it is almost impossible to remove all of that with just cloth and polish lol The paint was light green and off white. In certain places small remnants of the paint may remain. Without damaging the surface of the trunk it is very hard to totally get it all off. Also I think it adds to the already very rustic beautiful charm of the trunk. It is important to note the color variations you see in the pics on the metal ARE ... moreNOT paint. This is actually a pattern in the metal. One the end pieces I think it is patina and discoloration. But the middle piece on lower portion, and next to end pieces on top, I think it is the way the metal is made. It is very beautiful, and seems purposefully placed There is very gorgeous and unique hardware. There are little flower or star shaped medallions on top of trunk and on the front of trunk The wooden slats have been sanded stained and finished The handles were replaced with strips of 100% leather Interior of trunk was stripped of all inside paper. It has been left natural wood so new owner may leave as is. Or finish out to suit their needs best. One of the most unique things about this trunk is the locks on either end of trunk. And latch in center Normally one most I have seen. There will a latch on both ends, and a lock in center, this one is reversed! Antique Green Gentleman's 1910 Wardrobe Steamer Trunk, Originated Kennett, Mo.
This is an antique gentleman's wardrobe steamer trunk. Circa 1910. The outer color is a very dark Forest Green. I found it in a Monrovia, California antique store about ten years ago- and it hs been stored ever since. I ws originally taken by the color. As a child we traveled with steamer trunks, but I have never seen one with an interior this shade of bright green. It is large and heavy. Measures 38 inches in height, 25 inches in width, and 22 inches in depth. It stands on end and is opened into two halves. The left side has a velvet cusion top with a fold out hanger design with the original 8 wooden hangers for the gentleman's suits, and trousers. There is a fabric"screen" that latches to hold the garments in place, but opens and swings out when access needed. There are four fabric shoe holders at the bottom that have ... morebrass snaps to secure the gentleman's shoes. The right side has three small drawers on top with five large drawers below them. The larger drawers have fabric belts used to secure the contents. There is a sort of hump on the top of the trunk to ensure that it is not stood upside down when in transit. The trunk has the owner's initials on the outside as well as his home town: T.E.L. Kennett, Mo. His name was actually Thomas Ely Lasswell. There are decals from Westminster College in Fulton, Mo. as well as the original Railway label indicating Mr. Lasswell's address in Kennett. I have looked everywhere I can think of, but have not been able to find the manufacturer's name on the trunk. It looks like a Hartmann, but I'm not sure. The lock does indicate that it was made in 1910 by Eagle Lock Co in Terryville, Conn. I find this a really interesting trunk and a bit of Americana- a young man traveling from Missouri to California in the early part of the 20th century. Enormous chest. Oak, heavy dark original patina, hand forged hardware, evidence of worm holes and early wood bore, none existing now) with thick solid planks of oak used in construction. Chest measures 77x281/2 x40 inches and weighs upwards of 400 pounds. Provenance: A European castle, possibly Germany. A great antique Renaissance 18th century Walnut Cassone( Cassonne) or a storage trunk(as in American Blanket Chest) This piece is of great quality, crisp carvings, gorgeous hairy Italian carved paw feet. The piece is of rock solid construction, heavy and massive- just the way these babies are suppose to be. Top lifts up, connected with 2 hinges, on the underside of the lid and on the outside of the back of the bottom. Hinges are 100% original to the piece, made of the hamerred iron, very early(18th C) Condition is good, corners chewed as is the case with just about all of these, but all else tip top. As found. In very original unrestored condition this colonial Domed lid travel trunk. Made of wicker with a papier mache lid, All of which is covered in a dark brown canvas with leather edging handles and straps etc. It has a brass lock which is marked"London" The trunk was sold by the famous Maple& Co company from London England. The trunk is most probably of colonial origin. The inner tray is still there. The straps are there but one of them needs to be fixed. Here is an antique primitive dome top trunk in green paint with original wallpaper lining. Dates from the early to mid 1800's and measures 28" long x 12 1/2" wide x 13 1/2" high. Color is a little darker than pictured. Interior lined with original floral and sprig wallpaper(see pics) There is an old hinge repair(hinge moved- see pic) with scattered splits, paint losses, and interior stains and small paper losses, all giving this 150+ year old dome top trunk character. This trunk measures 15" long 9" wide and 9" tall.The outside of it is in very good condition.The inside will need a little work. A piece of wood that acts as a ledge for the tray is missing and the wood in the back of the trunk has a piece missing.Someone plastered the space and the plaster eventually fell out. Auto epoxy body filler would do the job to fill that void and a 1" x 1" strip of wood wood replace the ledge.

EARLY 1800'S ANTIQUE AMERICAN CHIPPENDALE BLANKET CHEST TRUNK DRAWERS GRAB LOCK
Here is a fabulous antique American early 19th century Chippendale style footed pine blanket chest or trunk with drawers below. This delightful old trunk is 48 inches long by 21 1/2 inches front to back and 27 1/2 inches tall. The top chest is internally 44 1/2 inches long by 18 1/4 inches front to back by 15 inches deep. With a small lidded compartment 18 1/4 inches long by 5 inches wide by 4 inches deep as shown. The two lower drawers are hand dovetailed as shown in close ups and measure 20 1/4 inches wide by 16 1/2 inches front to back by 4 inches deep. Again, as stated under condition, I've included a number of photographs in an attempt to accurately represent the design, quality, construction and condition of this great antique blanket chest. As far as provenance, my consignor has owned the trunk for a number of years and remembers ... moreonly that it was acquired through an estate sale. Specifically, this is what he told me was his recollection: The story I was told is that a woman named Bessie Hicks bought the trunk while visiting Muncie Valley PA in the 1950's after WWII. She brought it back to Atlanta GA where she lived. When her estate was broken up it made it's way to Miami and then to Charleston. He added. It appears to have some minor repairs around the feet. Also some sign of blue paint under the bottom. The lock is very fascinating and secured with rose head nails. Lock and key work nicely. That's about all I remember about it. Anyway. It's appearance is consistent with early 1800's Pennsylvania work in the Chippendale style so I chose to report this information. It is certainly a lovely antique blanket chest in very nice condition. This is a beautiful and very striking piece of antique Tibetan furniture. Made in solid pine or cedar wood and covered in burlap. It is a chest or trunk(often called a‘monastery chest’ although they were actually in everyday use in homes) It is painted in typically spectacular Tibetan lotus. Dragon, and bird decoration with copious lacquering. From the style of decoration, it likely comes from Kham province, has very simple hinges to the lid, and a metal clasp to the front. Dating to around the late nineteenth century. It is type of furniture not often seen in the U.K. and which usually commands very high prices– please do compare this example to others ... moreavailable(but avoiding the brightly painted, obviously modern pieces available direct from China) Please see here for a similarly sized example. 1800's-1900's Antique Vintage Kaufmann Dome Camel Barrel Top Ladies Travel Trunk
~Nice Antique Barrel Stave(Camel Back) Travel Trunk Up for your consideration is the following. They have been called Camel Backs. Round Tops, Barrel Stave, and Dome Topped. I don't know for sure what this one was called for certainty I just know that it more closely relates to the old"Barrel Stave" luggage trunks. Although this piece is quite old and Non-Restored it is still quite charming to behold. The inside is quite lovely. The trunk could be easily restored to it's former glory. It features beautiful artwork by"Kaufmann& Co. That is numbered. The Outside Of The Trunk Show its age a lot! There is evidence of Surface Rust. Marks, Scratches As the handles on the ends are missing and part of a latch and there is NO key. You Can Better See In The Pics I Have Put On. It could still be fully restored however and ... morealthough not as big as the other one I have listed is still a nice size(please see the other trunk I have listed) This one Measures approximately; 29" x 17" x 16" Naturally for something this big and heavy it will have to be taken down to the local UPS to ship and it will NOT be cheap. Up for auction is a vintage steamer truck/chest from a mansion in Scarsdale. New York. The family stated it was an ancestral trunk. It was wrapped in sheets in the attic. The outside looks good for its age. One of the leather handles is intact the other is broken but still on the trunk. The metal detailing throughout is stunning. The footing I’ve never seen. The latches say“patd 79” and the middle plate says. Patd May 54 and April 73. Hence, this is pre-1880. The inside is rough but it still has all the Victorian inserts! The inserts are in really tough shape, ripped, water damaged but it’s all there. The entire drawer/insert comes out. Size is approximately 32”X25”X14” It’s all original…I won’t even dust it. IT STILL HAS THE KEY AND IT WORKS! And. As always, a few notes from the disclaimer department. Everything is“as is. I do not accept ... morereturns.
