Old advertisements for this ... moretrunk can be found from the 1918s! This trunk is close to 100 years old! The hinges on the lid are still in good condition and workable. The flip-down locks on the front are stiff but open and close well. The center lock no longer works- looks like someone had to"break and enter" as it is slightly bent and the lock mechanism is missing. There are heavy leather handles on the side that are still in very good condition. Above these handles are eye hooks to attach and hold the trunk still. There are decorative rivets holding the steel in place on all the edges. It looks like a few of them have been replaced over the years. All the outside hardware has rust on it. The black outside material is canvas-leather like. Not sure what it is but there are some rips and showing underneath is wood.There are small holes on the sides and bottom. Maybe this was used for bootlegging at one time? It looks like the bottom could have been nailed down to something as there are small nails that stick up on the inside. Neat old black and white wallpaper type material on the inside of the lid and in the three cubby-holes on the right side. Very spacious measuring approx. 29" long x 15" high. The largest space on the inside measures 24" wide x 11" Each of the cubbyhole spaces measures approx. 4" x 3 1/4 to 3 3/4" with the center space being the smallest. The inside is lined in a canvas type material. I will say there is a very strong mildew smell on the inside. It is dirty inside too- this is definately in need of some TLC! It looks like someone added leather and snaps to the inside of the lid to hold things.the leather is light colored and newer looking. One of these straps is broken. The original leather strap that holds the lid open is scuffed and worn but still works for the purpose. Overall this is a nice vintage trunk with a condition commensurat

As well as a piece that sits in the bottom drawer(see pictured photo) There is also a piece thats used to secure the hangers farther back that is pictured. The hinges are all working however need to be cleaned. The locks appear in very good condition. No keys. These trunks were the very best. Right at the top with Louis Vuitton, Goyard, M. M. Secor, etc. This trunk was one of Hartmann's top models of the time, costing close to $200.that's over $2500 in today's market. Only a well-to-do gentleman or lady would have owned something this expensive and of this quality. This particular trunk is a cushion-top model, and is also gibraltarized, patentened process in order to make the trunk frame very strong. This is all steel-frame construction. The trunk features a velvet cushioned top to protect clothing during travel. Very nice. Solid Louis Vuitton calfskin trunk dating from between 1909 and 1915. Excellent patina to the leather, with no major spots- just an overall golden honey aging. It was found in a well-kept old barn, and all I've done is dust it off- I'll let you condition and polish it how you see fit. The trunk is an elegant size measuring 25" wide, 11"high, and 13" deep. The brass hardware is in excellent condition. The lock inscribed'BTE S.G.D.G. PATENT, LOUIS VUITTON, 1. RUE SCRIBE PARIS, LONDON 149. NEW BOND STREET, MADE IN FRANCE' and numbered 028224. Louis Vuitton is stamped on the larger bolts and LV on the two outer latches. The interior is lined with ivory linen, with fittings for one removable tray. Interior stamped with number 168673. There are overall scrapes, and chipping to the top edges, where some leather has worn away. The handle looks to be not original- my guess is the original one wore off and this one fit, so it was strapped on. This was likely a very prized trunk from the early days of the golden age of travel. Perfect for the discerning decorator. Very solid and the lid operates smoothly, and there are no problems with hardware- although I've never fully pressed in the center lock clasp for fear it would stay locked. Charming Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Straps and Buckles and Interior Tray Here is a real primitive refinished steamer trunk or antique chest from the 1800's. This one is made up of pine base wood with poplar outer slat boards. It is probably from the Civil War era and has the original lock. The lock is there. But we could not find a key that works with it. So we are selling it in"As Is" condition as far as the lock goes. The trunk has the following dimension s: from left to right across the front is 27 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 12 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 14 inches. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. There are some typical older distress marks on the wood which include older nicks and dings in the wood along with some stress cracks. A small ... morepiece of one of the top outer slat boards has been chipped away, probably many years ago. We have run a pair of Amish made leather straps with roller buckles up the front and across the top. These will secure the trunk's top to it's base when buckled. There were no front latches on this trunk. The side handles were missing and have been replaced with black leather straps. All of our leather products for these trunks are obtained from an Amish man near our home in Pennsylvania. You might want to use this trunk to store your Civil War items, coins, or other personal valuables inside. Our trunks have been used to display teddy bear and doll collections. Going to the inside, we have made a nice tray for the interior. The interior tray and interior wood have been given two coats of polyurethane. The interior wood is rough cut boards with the saw blade marks still on them. A nice picture of a Victorian girl posing has been added to the underside of the top. Going underneath the trunk to the exterior bottom, it is in decent shape and we have finished the bottom with a coat of polyurethane to make the trunk overall cleaner. It looks like a child used a crayon on the inside. Both leather handles are present. This trunk is very nice for its age. It has sticker on side that it was made by Taylor Fibre CO. I took lots of pictures please look close and send questions if need. The hey has is missing. The lock does work. Below is information on Taylor fibre company and there trunks. Vulcanized fibre Vulcanized fibre is a laminated plastic composed of only cellulose. The material is a tough. Resilient, hornlike material that is lighter than aluminium, tougher than leather, and stiffer than most thermoplastics. WWII MILITARY ARMY FOOT LOCKER TRUNK CHEST RARE ANTIQUE - 2ND LT SNOWDEN HAYWOOD
This is from WWII and has survived at least 70 years. It is worn and by no means new. This is a very nice example from the period and a great piece of our American history. Snowden Haywood was born on June 14. 1922 in Scarsdale, Westchester County, New York. He was 2nd Lieutenant, F.A. Army of the U.S. 263rd Field Artillery Battalion. He was killed in action on December 26. 1944 in Luxembourg. An extract from a letter of commendation by Maj. Gen. W. S. Paul. Former Division Commander, referring to the Battle of the Ardennes: Despite seemingly insurmountable difficulties of terrain and blizzard conditions. Our artillery at all times was in a position to support the attack. Moreover, the accurate and timely massing of its fires on innumerable occasions broke up enemy counterattacks before they could be launched, inflicting unbearable losses ... moreon the enemy. The conduct of the forward observer and liaison plane groups was marked with many feats of heroism and self-sacrifice. At no time, day or night, were observed fires lacking. Antique, Super Rare! 1920s Hunting, Show, Dog Pet Carrier Automobile Trunk Mount
Here is a super rare offering! This is a pet carrier that would mount on the back luggage racks. Or maybe running boards, of early automobiles. It has screened vent holes on one side, and the back. The vent on the back side had a hinged door- cover that could be opened or closed. That piece was broken off, the remains are still there for a pattern. I think an aluminum plate on there would look correct! This 22-1/2" high unit measures 34" long by 14" at the base, the top tapers to 34" by 9" The hinged door is 20" by 26" When I was taking these photos, one of the door lock levers came off. It could be repaired, I've shown it in photo#9 along with the partial vent cover.

Has the top compartment and the original label that refers to the James Dooley company that made high end trunks and luggage in downtown New York City from the Mid to Late 1800s. Amazing Antique Round Top Trunk
We are offering an 1870’s. Round Top Trunk. The trunk measures, 30" length x 18" height and 15" width. This fabulous trunk is covered in Western Square Style paper. The inner lining is paper as well. The Wood Slats on the top of the trunk and front appear to be Oak. The bottom slats and construction wood appear to be poplar and the handles are wood as well. The lock latch looks to be hand forged. The nails are round/oval head square shaft. This is visible in the picture of the lid lock hardware, they were driven thru and clinched on the outside. It was made in France, a center for travel luggage with Louis Vuitton, Goyard, Ay Depart, Moynat and Aux Etats-Unis wer all selling luxury travel goods. Express’ Voyage is a lesser known and likely short-lived business venture, as there are no accessible records of the company. Most travel goods companies were pushed out by the aforementioned top 5 maisons– especially when the 5 banded together and bought their raw materials in bulk. The size. Style and font of the name“Express Travel” on the metal tag, the flat top and the style of the vertical staving will date this trunk to the turn of the 20th century, circa 1900– 1920. MINIATURE OR DOLL ANTIQUE DOME TOP WOOD TRUNK
Up for bid is a very nice antique miniature or doll size wood dome top trunk. Believed to be from the last turn of the century. This small wood trunk, is covered with a brown and black paper, wood slats, tin corners, tin hardware, cardboard trim and once upon a time, leather handles. The paper is missing or torn in some spots, as is some of the original cardboard trim, and the handles are missing. The inside is a whole different story, fashioned with wall to wall wallpaper, and a tray to boot. There is a cloth strap inside which once held the trunk top open, so that the top did not break the hinges, when let go of. The strap can easily be re-fastened to the inside lid. The inside contents as found appear to be doll clothes and blankets or quilted items, and your getting those as well. Priced high over the years, I probably only ever owned ... moremaybe a small handful of these in the last 40+ years of being in business of buying antiques. They are rare to find, especially in such nice condition as this. A great project piece, just waiting to be refinished and used to keep jewelry, make it into a humidor for your cigars, or give it to a small child who might want to use it for dolls or small collectibles. The trunk measures 16" in length x 10-1/2" high x 9-3/4" wide. Great antique steamer trunk. This type of vintage fun was popular for travel during the late 1800's and early 1900's! This trunk is an amazing piece of history! This vintage trunk features raised wooden slats. With finished metal decorative corners, latches, and edging. This trunk is in great vintage condition, even though one of its leather handles is torn and the metal brackets that hold the top of the trunk open in a fixed position are not working(could be easily fixed) as shown in picture. Also, minimal wear on the inside of the trunk is also featured in the pictures. The inside is still lined with what appears to be the original paper. 1930's Antique Wardrobe Steamer Trunk - Local Pickup
Charming old wardrobe trunk available to add to your collection of antiques! Since it is super heavy. Local Pickup only. What's so cool about this wardrobe trunk is that it has features that so many of the other wardrobes you see don't have or they're missing! Also. It was restored approximately 20 years ago and is still in good condition. You may want to repaint or reline the trunk to make it your own, but you don't have to worry about a bunch of repairs because they were already done. For example, the metal trim was not brass and so it was painted. It could easily be repainted to suit your needs. As for the unique, original features, the trunk includes: a wooden ironing board, metal bracket for iron, a pull out holder for the ironing board, 6 wooden hangers- one of which holds a cloth laundry bag, a removeable wooden box(holds ... moreshoes.lap desk? and 4 drawers- among other features. It's missing the outside lock and original leather handle(handle was replaced with a strong leather buckled handle) The key to the inside lock, the narrow flat bar that slides in front of the drawers, and some material behind the drawers. Some of the material is faded. The hinges and drawer pulls are secure and in functional condition except one outside latch(this doesn't prevent the trunk from closing tightly. The metal rods that hold the hangers extend out to hold the ironing board and are easy to slide in/out. All the drawers are lined with material and are in good/clean condition. The top drawer is divided into three compartments and is in good condition. The two middle drawers are in good condition too. The bottom drawer is deep and has a shallow pull out tray which exposes a cool feature. The feature is a sphere shaped cloth form that straps to the side of the drawer with leather. The original leather is still in place and functional. But somewhat brittle. My guess is that a hat could be pinned to the form to keep it safe for travel. Rare Antique Maier Oak Slat Beveled Top Trunk, Vintage, Restored, Tray & Key!
Here is the trunk for your collection! This beautiful rare trunk was made by Martin Maier& Company of Detroit from the 1885 to 1895 period. Based on the actual dates of manufacture of the hardware. If you see a trunk with this type latch it was not made in the 1870's as many other sellers state. Because they were patented in 1882 and used into the late 1890's. I do extensive trunk research. Size: 30" wide. 22 1/2" tall, 20" front to back. A fabulous rare size, great for many uses! Very few Martin Maier slat trunks are found and even fewer flat tops with the beveled corners such as this one. This style was advertised in one of their catalogs as a"Rustic" trunk covered entirely with hardwood slats. Superior quality and based on the Excelsior trunk patent of 1868. Which most people now call Oak Slat Trunks ... moreor Victorian slat trunks. Maier established his trunk company in 1865 after serving in the Civil War. This special trunk is not common in any way! Martin Maier& Co developed their distinctive narrow slat alternating color style trunks and they are very hard to find in such good condition. These are made of hardwood strips of oak or elm and another darker wood, over an all wood body. These trunks were made to be impressive and were more expensive to make than the ordinary metal, leather, or canvas covered trunks. That's probably why they are so rare today. The special corner"lid stay" hinges are marked Pat'd April 1879 and were patented by Martin Maier too! The front catches were patented in 1882. All of the trunk's hardware is in good condition and the wood has no breaks or missing wood. No sand blasting, sanding, or polyurethane coating has been done on this trunk exterior as some other restorers do. The trunk has a very smooth finish, which is hand rubbed tung oil, the finest antique furniture finish. The interior is also beautiful with a large Victorian chromolithograph, and the Maier label! Beautiful Refinished Antique Flat Top Steamer Trunk with Working Lock. Leather Straps and 2 Keys My husband and I have refinished over 120 trunks. Each one is a treasure of its own. The history of each trunk dates back as early as the 1 800's. Each has its own unique story. While owning a trunk of your own. You can enhance the tradition and legacy with your own family. This is a very nice decorative refinished flat top steamer trunk. The particular d imensions for this are 36 1/2" length. 21 1/2" width and 24" heig ht. The size of this trunk will make a great coffee table. This particular trunk is pine with oak or ash slat boards. We refinished this particular trunk by taking off the old canvas covering and all paper on the inside. Next we sanded the wood on the entire trunk. On the outside and a little on the inside due ... moreto the rough cut wood that the inside was made out of. We didn't want to alter that finish too much. We then applied coats of Polyurethane as the finishing touch to give the wood a shine. The trunk has some typical small stress marks and small stress cracks which are common in wood of this age. One of the stress cracks is on the top. If you notice it in the picture. Next we painted all metal parts of the trunk with a black or gold leaf paint. We then attached 2 new Amish made black leather hand l es to this beautiful trunk. We also put on a new lock with 2 working keys. Along with the lock we attached two new Amish made black leather handle straps and buckles to help the lid stay securely shut when wanted. This is a very old antique steamer trunk with tray and with the original paper lithographs affixed to the inside of the dome lid. The large lithograph in the center shows an old man and woman sitting having tea with the old man appearing to be threading a needle. The smaller round lithos on each side of the paper shows a man carrying a trunk on his back and shoulders while a woman in the background appears to drop her luggage. The artists signature on the large litho is lower left and is very hard to read but may read"Lexington" The smaller round lithos do not appear to be signed. The paper does show tears. It looks like it is missing one tie nail and has cracking naturally that wood does over years.and on bottom of stomach looks patched other than that this is a work of art and a great piece to any collection. Antique Wheary Burge Steamer Wardrobe Trunk,Early 1900's,Nice
Hi. Up for sale i have an antique Wheary Burge Wardrobe Steamer type trunk from the early 1900's. Made in Racine Wisconsin by Wheary trunk company, sold in Kansas city by Luce luggage. This trunk is in very good condition for as old as it is, comes with original iron board, 10 wooden hangers, removable smaller case, black with brass accents, the felt on the flip top has some splits, the locks on the trunk are working, the keys for the outside of the trunk and for the bar that secures the drawers in place have been re-made by a locksmith. Trunk measures about 42" tall, 22" wide and 26" deep. I am selling this trunk for local pick up only, i live in the Kansas city area, if you would like to arrange shipping yourself, that is okay to just let me know where to drop it localy. Vintage / Antique Trunk Shabby Vintage Chic Use as Jewelry box or organizer
This is a fabulous Vintage/ Antique wooden trunk.could be used as a jewelry box. Organizer, picture keeper, toolbox etc.It measures 10 1/2" high, 21" wide, 13" deep.when opened the top tray lifts out for more storage.the middle drawer is velvet lined.It has a secret drawer lock. it also has lock parts, however, the lock needs repair or assembling, it has no drawer pulls, or side handles.it was acquired at a New England estate.I believe the wood is Oak.it appears to have been refinished and there is a sheen to it.it has all the antique dings and wear that just make it more interesting.please check out photos and ask any questions.

The strap thickness is about 3/16" and 1 1/4" in width- The end caps are painted metal-after installation the end to end dimension of the handle will be approx. 9 1/2" and suitable for large trunks. Antique victorian leather & metal Solid Wood steamer trunk treasure brides chest
Up for auction is a nice condition antique steamer trunk with a built in quilted compartment. Solid wood with metal and leather hardware. This is a sharp. Interesting piece to accent any room. Quilted blue floral print inside of trunk with thick lace detail around the edges. The inside top compartment is also covered in the fabric. Very nice condition. Wood color is absolutely beautiful.
