This doll chest is in good condition. It has definate aged appearance and patina. There are two areas on the inside where the wood is split to the outside(one on the top and one on the inside backing) scratches and faded areas of original black decorative decor. The bottom has a couple nails sticking out. There is rusting on the decorative brass fixtures. There is some fraying of the wood in various areas and some holes that do not protrude to the outside of the box. There are handles on either side of the box. It appears that the tray and handles were added and are not original to the chest. Very nice and decorative detail and appeal. Inside original interior paper is mostly gone. Measures 18" wide x 10 1/2" high x 7 1/2" deep on the inside with removal of the wooden tray. There is no lock for this trunk. Two beautiful handles on either side. Has wonderful metal features and attachments. Opens to a interior tray. Plenty of room. Color: Brown. Fantastic primitive appeal. It measures 36 inches long by 24 in ches tall with the lid closed by 20 inches deep. It features a remova ble storage tray and more linens. Beddings. And clothing can be placed underne ath for conv enient additional hu ge storage. It is a wood structure trunk and frame with smooth me tal(black) and woven pattern metal riveted overlays with beautiful beading to ta ck in metals and curved and straight gorg eousl y grained wood slat s. Here's what I stated about it s condition: Metal overlay surfaces have been repainted and restored. Some scratches and scuffs marks on beautifully grained wood slats. Leather handle missing on left side. Flip up side locking latches both flip up into locking position. But only one catches to keep it lock closed and the other is missing its catch. Center locking latching closes in position but does not lock and there is no key. Interior lining shows foxing and staining and has some t ares due to great age. But smells clean with nice scent like cedar inside. Truly a rare beauty of extra large size that has great looks and craftsmanship on evident in these earlier era pieces of exceptional beauty. So you may want to grab it quick, before it is gone! Note: Not shipping overseas nor to Alaska on this one. Only to domestic United States. 1870-1900 Victorian Antique Steamer Trunk or Chest, of the "Titanic" Era
This is a well preserved. Collector-quality antique chest with a rounded top. A photograph aboard the Titanic shows a trunk very similar to this one. The well-known"Titanic" which sank on its first voyage. Though thought to be unsinkable. Read about the"Unsinkable Molly Brown" saved alive from that ship. Steamer trunks" were standard luggage for traveling aboard ship in those days. Nothing is missing on this trunk except the key to the lock! Helpful for someone interested in restoring it. Even the antique leather handles( 150 plus years old) are strong and intact! and were used to lift the empty trunk for its recent journey from its purchase point. View the photographs of each of the thick leather handles. Recently purchased from an estate sale in Southern California. For its age, this"treasured" chest is ... morein truly in excellent shape. The trunk opens and closes work as should. There is no warping. No"musty" smell. This trunk is as is. With all of the interest and beauty of its aged condition. On the edges where the lid and the lower portion of the trunk meet. The flower-embossed tin sheet metal shows the patina's original condition, a golden copper sheen. The sturdy sheet metal on the very bottom of the trunk is plain un-embossed sheet metal. Black in color with wooden slats. In a"grease pencil or crayon" on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats appears"32 x 84" The bottom of the trunk shows evidence of wheels once attached in each of the four corners of the trunk. No labels have yet been discovered in the trunk which would reveal more about its origins. There is some writing on the bottom of the trunk on one of the wooden slats indicating"32 x 84" This trunk or chest is better than average condition from what I've seen on eBay. It's still usable and the locks on the front do work(to a degree) I don't have a key to the trunk and as you can see by the pictures. Antique 1800's Hide Covered Stage Coach Trunk
You certainly don't see these every day! This is an OLD 1800's stagecoach trunk. It can easily be dated as you can see in the photos that it is lined with the Portsmouth Herald newspaper from 1840. Covered in either horse or cow hide. The hide has begun to pull away as it has dried out over the years but the majority of the hide is still in place. Leather strapping and edging. It measures 27" Long, 14" Wide and 12" High. The top is domed. The top part of the lock is gone but the bottom part remains. The hinges that hold the top on are gone. The hand forged handles are still present on both sides. This likely would have been a security" box that held valuables or guns. Just a note of interest: It is marked on the bottom"3. If you appreciate western history, stagecoaches or anything from that era, this is a must have! My wife, a history professor, attempted to research JW Williams and found a couple of men that if could of been but we couldn't nail it down definitively. One was an evangelist who was ordained in 1841(very near the date of the newspaper) and another was a gentleman who did famous portraits of presidents. For your bidding consideration; a very rare find. This is a Seward Bag and Trunk Company"Sewardrobe" antique trunk which was patented on April 13. 1915. In the interior on the left, you will find all the drawers intact including the tie downs. The top drawer has built in dividers which I am sure was used to separate the owner's"special" items. On the right, you will see the slide out hanger bar equipped with the original wooden hangers. On the bottom, right behind the hanging area, you will find four shoe pockets. ANTIQUE MILITARY TRUNK WWI THE PETTIBONE BROS MFG CO.
I only know what"my Guy" left in notes on this old trunk he had stashed in his shop and of course what I can read. There is a name and town on one end that is: Matthew Bendorf. Grass Valley, Cal. so I did a little research on that too. The notes I have say that this is a military uniform trunk from WW I era. But I cannot find a date on it to verify that. The research I did on the name would be inline with this era. There is a key that does work the lock but I have no idea if it is original only that it works. One of the outer straps is broken and needs mending however all the hardware part is there. The inside straps are great. This was made by The Pettibone Bros Mfg Co of Cincinnati, Ohio as you can see by the label inside. The Leather Handle on top also is marked with"The Pettibone Bros Mfg" also and attached with leather ... morebands. It measures 18" long, 10 1/2" wide/deep and 11 1/2" tall. There are some stains on the bottom inside. I believe it is wood with Leather edge trim and as covering that looks like very thin leather but may not be. Metal corners all good. Up for sale is this beautiful restored antique victorian flat top low profile steamer trunk with working key. It measures 34 1/2" long by 20" wide and 12 1/2" tall. The original canvas that wrapped this trunk has been removed and the wood was sanded. Stained with minwax"cherry" then sealed with two coats of spar urethane(light sand in between coats) The interior lining has been removed and the wood was sanded then stained. Gorgeous Antique Doll Trunk & Quilt
This auction is for a gorgeous antique doll trunk and it is a real beauty. It measures 20.5" x 11.5" wide and it is 12.5" tall. Even though this early doll trunk is worn around the edges and the leather has worn through(and split in places) all around. It is an incredible piece and it displays so beautifully. The leather handles on the sides are missing and it looks like there used to be two more on the top in which to swing it up by but they are not there now. It has a wonderful covered divided tray on the inside and there were lots of old pins(and old tissue paper) in it when I got this trunk. I have used it to store antique dolls for many years and it is a fabulous display piece in and of itself. The metal hardware around the edges is really fantastic- I have had many early trunks and I have never seen this rugged rounded ... morehardware on any of the others that I have had and it is incredible how well it has protected this beautiful early trunk. This incredible piece has marks, dings, rust, scratches, gouges, leather wear and leather splits, spots, etc. but that only adds to its character. I can't say enough about how well it has aged and I think it just keeps getting better and better. It is a fantastic collectible. I have more old doll trunks to list.

Antique Hartman steamer trunk w/ original lock and key, coffee table, vintage
For your consideration a beautiful antique steamer trunk from the turn of the century manufactured by Hartman of Racine Wisconsin. This trunk features its original locka with original key both function flawlessly. The trunk retains all of it original hinges buckles and both leather handles which are all in excellent condition. The trunk also retains the original Hartmann and Gibrlatorized logos which are also in excellent vintage condition and can be read easily. The inside of this trunk is in as nice of shape as the outside showing one small tear in the material on the top side of the trunk. Easy fix. The inside is lined in a silk type of material. The trunk is missing the inside shelf to divide it top to bottom. The exterior condition shows very minor scuffs, no dents it has a couple of paint dots on it here and there very non distracting ... moreand it adds character to the piece. This would work perfectly as a coffee table or storage at the end of the bed for blankets and pillows. This is truelly a fantastic conversation piece and is in excellent vintage condition. You don't often find them pretty well intact with the original key and lock. There are no pry marks across the top edge either as it has its original key. The measures ments of the trunk are 36 inches side to side, 23 inches deep and 25 inches top to bottom. No reserve auction, high bidder wins! I will ship this trunk via Greyhound package express to the closest Greyhound terminal of the winning bidder where it will have to be picked up. They will hold the piece for two days for free. Antique Trunk Panel Union Soldier Civil War Lithograph Found Object Art Wooden This is a panel piece from an old hump-back trunk. It is a panel from the top shelf insert. I believe it was a folding door panel. The panel measures 18" x 15 1/4" in the open state. It folds closed on fabric hinges to measure 8" x 15 1/4" The panel is made of wood that is covered with decorative paper and a lithograph image of a Union Civil War soldier. The soldier has a drawn sword and sits on a spirited white horse(note the saddle is marked. U.S" The image of the soldier(including decorative boarder around him) measures 10 3/4" x 7 1/2" The panel is covered in various papers and appears to be hand crafted. The boarders are glued on strips of paper. The background paper is blue plaid on one side and a geometric design on the ... moreother side. The paper colors are red, gold, blue, and black. The lithograph of soldier is very colorful with all colors. There is some damage to the middle of the image as you can see.this where it folds in two and the years of folding have worn the paper thru. There are stains and tears to this item. but no strong smell.actually kind of a pleasant smell(maybe the wood) There is a leather tab still attached on the front side. Great Vintage Antique Leather Luggage Handle & Straps, Garters, Trunk
This is a really cool estate find. It's an antique or vintage luggage handle with side leather straps and two long loose straps. The handle part measures 11" long by about 1-1/4" wide. It has nice flower studs holding the handle to the brace and the only marking I can find are embossed flowers on the buckle flags. The leather straps are about 40" long. Then there are two 35" long separate straps that are marked suede top. Genuine Cowhide and CODE Garter something something. Overall very good condition for it's age. All the leather is still pretty strong. I don't know that I'd trust this on actual heavy luggage but for display it's perfect. Really nice vintage example. I will combine on shipping but rates have gone up again. And now BOTH Ebay and Paypal are charging us a final value fee, a final value ... morefee on shipping, listing fees and income tax so I have to add a bit to the shipping to cover. 19c EARLY ANTIQUE BRASS STUDDED LEATHER TRUNK DOME TOP STAGECOACH ERA PRIMITIVE
Offered here this outstanding brass studded leather dome top trunk. Trunk is very sturdy and has stood the test of time. A true survivor. Trunk measures 20 1/4" across 13 1/2' front to back and is 8 1/4" tall to top of dome. As you can see there is some wear and chipping to leather, other than that no damage. Hinges are intact and firm no loosenes at all. All the brass studs are there and it has it's original cloth lining which is quite beautiful in itself and doesn't have any tears. Weighs 15 pounds unpacked. I believe this is circa 1850 to 1860 and I can picture this trunk on top of stagecoach. I wish it could talk and tell me where its been. The 24 latches on the middle row have springs. The 23 pieces on the top row are the latch tops. I do not know if the tops fit the bottoms as these all came to me like this. Antique R.H. John Galvaston Trunk Factory Stagecoach travel trunk
This is an antique R.H.John Galveston Trunk Factory stagecoach trunk from between 1880's- to no later than 1910. I could not find anything like it for comparison to get a better date. The trunk is made of metal. Wood and canvas coverings both inside and out. It has a red wash on it, so it was done right and appears to be original. It looks really good, but does have some dents along the side/edge fixtures, a small dent in bottom metal base, some tearing of the inside canvas, mostly along sides, is missing an inside wooden brace that would have possibly held a top box, has some staining spots on inside lid, has an outside tear of the canvas along a side edge about 3-4 inches long(pictured) the outer leather straps are worn, but still strong enough to lift it, there is an inner strap that is broken and 2 long cracks of the inner wood bottom ... morethat does not show through to metal bottom. There are wood slats along the top, bottom, and sides. Please ask for more pictures if you need to see more. This is heavy for it's size-over 37 pounds. It is 41 1/2 inches long, 20 3/4 inches wide and 13 inches deep.

The thickly painted writing on top states: W H POPE PASSENGER TO MASSILLON OHIO USA. Northeast Ohio. Near Canton(south of Cleveland) Made of STEEL. With slightly corrugated sides, Oval Shaped, Hinged Lid. HAND MADE HASP holds the handle. And FRONT LATCH appears to be hand made, as well. And the single, LONG hinge at back. All 3 are very well done, but do not at all look like factory made pieces. Construction is STURDY. With Lapped edged on lid, Bottom and sides. Heavy enough to be STURDY and strong, but not too heavy to be unweildly. All hinges and clasps are secure and strong. Painted a dark bittersweet/mustardy-brown color. Pre Civil War Antique, All Leather Steamer Trunk. Rare Find!!
For sale is a very rare antique steamer trunk. The trunk is very large and completely covered in brown leather. The leather has some cracks but for 150 years old. The leather is considered in good shape. There are rolling wheels on the bottom and wood slats on the top. The top also had the words"warranted sole leather" imprinted in the leather. This trunk also has possible ties to historic NY(brooklyn) politician JB Wass, who was a consultant to president Ulysses S Grant. If you search the web you can find reports sanctioned by Grant where JB Wass made recommendations on locations of illegal liquor distilleries in Brooklyn) The side of the trunk has personalized label complete with name and address. The inside of the trunk had an incredibly rare drop down compartment with a green envelope type thing attached with gold trim decoration ... moreand logo. Again you will not find a trunk like this. With a history and such an ornate design anywhere. It could use a restoration or would be a great conversation starter as it it stands now. Old steamer chest. Wood. Trimmed in metal. Lock says"STAR LOCK WORKS PHILA PA" Research says that the Star Lock Works was founded in 1836 and operated until 1926. Lock is open but locked and there is no key. Both leather handles are deteriorated and need replaced. Inside is very clean.
