It is complete with the tray and the top has a compartment with a hinged door. The inside and the tray have been lined with wallpaper- beautifully done. To the best of my knowledge. All of the leather is original. It has the original Brass Lock with a star pattern. The key is included and the trunk does lock. The trunk automically locks when you close the lid. If the key is not present. The key must be in the lock and turned to the unlocked position to open the trunk. Measures approximately 30" Wide(without the side straps) by 17" Deep by 15" High. Stained a Medium Brown- Base is made from Pine with Oak Slats. It does have a crack on the top. But to me, this just adds to its appeal. Other than a few very minor scratches. Antique Nathaniel B. March Deerskin Covered Traveler's Trunk. Circa 1820s You are bidding on a very old antique Nathaniel B March traveler's trunk. It is covered in deerskin and brass rivets. It is in"as found" condition. The deerskin is rough and the pieces of leather that hang off the sides are rather dry. Side handles appear to be original and in good condition. Measures 24" long. 12" deep and 10" tall. The lock, which I am not sure is original or not, has been repaired at some point in the past(repairs look pretty crude and old. Antique Primitive Pine Lift Top Trunk Painted Green Tool Chest Country Folk
Antique green lift top chest. Classic primitive or country style. It looks like it was made from pine and has a basic six-panel construction. The top is made from three framed boards with a raised piece on top. Iron side handles and a molded base. Paint looks original or at least very old. Interior has sections for holding things in the front and stepped sides to hold boxes up. There are also strips of gathered leather attached to the top that may have been for tools and a cut-out"L" shape that may have held a carpenter's square. So it seems likely that this trunk was probably a tool chest at some point. Trunk probably dates from the late 19th or early 20th century. Overall. This piece is in good condition, however there is obvious wear as you can see from the pictures. Early mines didn't have imposed safety regulations and miners' lives were often threatened. Measuring 22 1/2" long, 16 1/2" wide, and 9 1/4" deep, this Breathing Apparatus Trunk at one time held a complete set of life-saving equipment. The exterior is a bright red color with lozine-like edging and original hardware and nail heads. The front of the trunk reads"M.S.A. Beautiful Antique Jenny Lind Trunk with A Beautiful Restoration Very Nice Trunk.
For sale today is a medium size nicely restored Jenny Lind trunk and the restoration turned out just awesome! I did not find any patent dates on the trunk and based on 40 years experience restoring trunks I would date this trunk to the 1860's to 1880's which makes this wonderful old Jenny Lind a 140 plus years old- a true antique. Jenny Lind trunks are rare and in big demand. I have restored over 500 trunks in the last 40 years and this is my fifth Jenny Lind. This trunk was structually sound when the restoration started and it has a good wooden bottom. The wood has multiple coats of clear applied and has the three original slats on the bottom. It has the two original hinges that are tight, work well and the lid closes well. It has the original center lock, it has been polished, does not work and no key. Two new leather latches have ... morebeen installed on the trunk. The trunk's lid stay is a new cloth one. The interior has been removed. The metal/tin is in very good condition. Two new leather handles were installed with the new end caps.There are fifty plus polished brass nail covers. Some of them are in very good condition and some are in very poor condition. Antique Steamer Trunk from WW1 world war One. My Grandfather used this from Germany to come to our wonderful country and used this to pack his belongings. This is made out of woven wood. EXAMPLE OF STAGECOACH/JENNY LIND With Measurements: 29"w x 13.5"h x 16 1/4"d Stagecoach Trunks Including The Jenny Lind's 1840-1875 This era of trunks saw the replacement of the leather trim with metal banding and the hide coverings replaced by things such as oil cloth. A tanned and often highly tooled or inked leather. And toward the later part of the era, paper on occasion. During this time, the size of the buttons. Often brass covered, became larger although not all trunks had them. Generally, trunks of this type were still on the smaller size to carry a few belongings for an individual person as space was limited during travel. The Jenny Lind trunk was born in this time in the early 1850's. It has a distinctive shape like no other trunk being ... moresimilar to an old keyhole or bread loaf shape(there are two variations) when viewed from the side. The style became popular in America when the famous singer Jenny Lind toured the country under contract by P.T. Barnum. Jenny Lind brought her trunk over from Europe(do not know who made the first one) and everyone here wanted one. It is a very attractive trunk with metal banding that is on occasion brass wrapped and the banding is held in place by large brass buttons. The Jenny Lind's are really a unique style of their own but I have listed then under the stagecoach trunks as that is really what they were and their general size being consistent with other trunks of this era. As expected for an all original Tourobe of its age there is also some scuffing on the exterior. Inside still looks great and has the original hangers. For Auction: Antique 1930s Henry Likly Full Size Steamer Wardrobe Trunk. It is an unusual design. Half of the front door opens. And a leg pops open to hold it up. When you close it, the leg closes up. The leg appears that it needs a little maintenance as it needs a helping hand to close it up. It is difficult to close the trunk completely. It can be closed. But you have to fight it a little. There is no key. The lock does not lock. It appears that it may be missing the top to the drawer section. But I am not sure. The base is 22" by 23" by about 40" tall. Here is what an expert told me about the trunk: Manufacturer: Henry Likly. The Henry Likly Trunk Company was established in 1844 as A.R. T.H. Pritchard. Upon graduating from school Henry Likly took an apprenticeship with A.R& T.H.Pritchard and mastered his trade in the ... moretrunk manufacturing industry.In January of 1868 Mr. Likly was given a partnership in the company. The company then became A.R. T.H. Pritchard& Company. Three years later it became A.R. Refinished Dome Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest With Interior Tray
Nice Refinished Antique Dome Top Steamer Trunk With Interior Compartment Areas and Interior Tray Here is a really nice refinished dome top steamer trunk or travel trunk from the mid to late 1800's. This beautiful hump back chest is made up of poplar and pine base wood with oak outer slat boards. Here are the dimensions: from left to right across the front is 28 1/2 inches. From floor to top is approximately 24 1/2 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. The wood has been finished with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax. The wood is in it's natural patina or color which is a medium reddish brown. This trunk has a nice unique pair of original front latches that are patent dated and do work. They are"Patented July 1, 73" referring to 1873. These latches have a tab at the bottom that you flip back and forth ... moreto engage or disengage the latch. The lock is original to this trunk. It is brass. So we have semi polished it. Unfortunately, we have not been able to match up a key for this lock. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps which are sturdy. Going to the interior of this trunk, it has two nice features which are under the dome. One is the compartment at the left. We have remade the drop door to this compartment and added a nice picture to this door. At the right under the top is the original small compartment which may have held people's smaller belongings. If you look at the close up pictures, you will see the lids being held open to give you an idea of how these work. The picture above the small compartment is original. It portrays a gap in a mountain. We are not sure where of where this area is that is portrayed in the picture or sketch. We have also made a tray that rests at the top where the original one once did. The interior wood and tray have received two coats of polyurethane. The interior bottom has a stress crack or two running through it which is quite typical for these older trunks. Other than that, the interior is in

Here for auction a vintage'Mappin and Webb of Regent Street' leather briefcase/trunk. For the age. The case is holding up very well. the integrity of the seams, corners edges and so forth is very good. Very nice quality throughout. The shape/ panels have become a bit warped as the pictures show. But the case closes without any problem and the single latch mechanism works well. The hardware is in brass and has a great quality feel that you would expect from one of the very best London Makers. There is one place where a seam has dropped about 3 stitches. picture 5) There are further minor age commensurate bumps and scuffs, but nothing to worry about. I nice Victorian Silver Chest. These were used in the victorian households to store the family silver and prevent the servants abscondoing with the valuable itmes. Would have been green compartment lined when first made. The richer you were. The more of these chests you had. Each would have a name plate plus the number of the chest. e.g. Earl John Smith 1 of 5 etc. It has large iron swing up type handles to each side. Working lock and key.bonus not many old chests still have a key. Also a hasp& loop has been added later in its long life for more locking options. Internal lid stay still working and present(holds the lid open) Some of the lower back metal no longer wraps underneath rusted away. Brass name plate to front looks blank. The lock will need repairs(see pic) the handles are missing on the sides and will need to be replaced as well. The inside is lined with a fabric and all of it is there. The fabric is dirty, stained as you could expect for the age. Overall. This trunk is in fantastic pre-owned/ antique condition! It hasn't been restored. Antique Half Trunk - Hard to find size
Up for auction today we have a lovely half sized trunk. Or cube trunk, dating to the late 1870's, this cute small trunk was originally leather covered, and the dried leather was removed to highlight the gorgeous wood underneath. I sanded it smooth and used English American Stain with tung oil. The finish looks amazing. All metal was cleaned and left as is, I did not repaint the black metal. Front hinges have a patent date on them, hard to read, but I suspect according to my trunk bible, that this trunk dates to the 1870s- 1880's. Front hinges have the piece of metal that snaps back and forth, tough on short nails, but very cool and they work. Handles are long gone, but the inside has the original lithograph, a lovely portrait of a woman. The rest of the trunk as been lined with a nice yellow fresh cotton fabric, and the tray has this ... moresame fabric on the bottom. Measures 20 x 17 x 17, so not exactly a cube but almost. See all photos. Weighs about 20 pounds. No maker labels. Up for auction today we have a large all wood antique trunk. It is a true flat top with nice decorative metal on the sides. This trunk was originally greenish brown canvas covered and all the dried canvas was removed to highlight the gorgeous pine wood underneath. The wood was treated with tung oil and a bit of stain. Measures 32 x 18.75 x 22.5 and weighs about 25 pounds. All metal has been painted rustoleum black. Front left hinge missing clasp. Handles are long gone. The inside is very clean. Stripped of the old paper and sanded smooth. Ready to be papered or fabric lined, this true flat top trunk will be a looker and will make a great coffee or side table. It it a good size trunk.
