Very cool and unique Louis Vuitton auto trunk circa 1910 converted to a console table. Trunk is all original with the original black vuittonite canvas and all brass hardware. These were originally made to be strapped to the back or interior trunk of an early Rolls Royce. Custom base is made of steel and brass. I have also seen the interiors of these converted for use as humidors or as a whiskey/scotch case. Dimensons are 32 x 15 x 35.5" high. Looks great against a wall or the back of a couch as well. Antique travel steamer style trunk. The trunk measures about 38 1/2" long x 21 1/2" deep x 12 1/2" tall. Perfect coffee table size. There are several old hotel and shipping labels attached as pictured. Most appear to be from Germany and Italy. The trunk is in average vintage used condition. The oak slats were restored and the canvas was coated with varnish for protection. The interior is original and was only cleaned as was the bottom. Rare GIGANTIC oversized antique wood ladies' hatbox or storage trunk. I'm guessing this dates from the days when ladies' hats were at their largest. From about 1880-1910. There is a stamp inside the lid which is in a different language. There are a couple of extremely old labels affixed to the outside of box but they are obliterated from age. The huge box spans an impressive 20" across and stands 10-1/2" high. H Hoskins Co Stationary Wooden Box Trunk with Handles Philadelphia antique Description: Wm H Hoskins Company Wooden Box/Trunk Description: Up for sale is a very rare and hard to find piece: an early 1900's Wm. H Hoskins and Co marked wooden trunk and/or box. This is a really remarkable piece and I haven't been able to find any other trunks like this one. This trunk has a few markings on the interior of the box(please see pictures) But it looks like it was from Wm. H. Hoskins and Co, which was a stationary company from the late 1800's into the early 1900's in Philadelphia. The box also has a"Penn. R. marking, which makes me think this might have been used on the railroads, but this is just my own speculation. The box measures 37"L x 16"W x 14"H. A Ladycomet Refinished Flat Top Victorian Steamer Trunk Antique Chest w/Key&Tray
Nice Refinished Flat Top Steamer Trunk With Working Lock& Key and Original Multi Divided Tray Here is a great refinished flat top steamer trunk from the late 1800's to around 1900 or so. We are calling it a flat top although there is a very slight factory arch. These are the trunk's dimensions: from left to right across the front is 30 1/2 inches. From floor to top is 22 inches, and from front edge to back edge is 18 1/2 inches. This beautiful trunk is made up of poplar base wood with oak or ash outer slat boards. We have finished the wood with three coats of polyurethane by Minwax to protect it and give it a nice appearance. The wood is in pretty good condition although there are some typicl distress marks or character marks. These include older nicks and dings in various places along with some stress cracks. Just about all of ... morethe trunks that we refinish have some of these older distress marks. This one comes with the original working lock. We did find a key that will activate the lock mechanism. The front latches are original and work ok since the springs are intact. The side handles have been replaced with Amish made black leather stitched straps. They are sturdy. The metal parts on this trunk are not brass. If they were, we would have semi polished them. Very seldom do you come across an American made trunk that has all brass hardware. The metal parts on this trunk have been brush painted by hand in black and gold leaf. This lovely trunk would make a great gift for a loved one on any special occasion. The new owner could store their personal belongings and collectibles inside the trunk and later in life pass it down to the future generations. Going to the interior, we have removed the paper lining since it was worn out looking. We then have given the interior wood two coats of polyurethane. This trunk come with the original multi divided tray that rests at the top edge. Store items in this tray, then lift it up and put more items deep inside the trunk. Gorgeous ANTIQUE refinished Steamer Trunk Ca. 1890's
Up for auction today we have a recently refinished antique steamer trunk dating to the late 1800's early 1900's. This style trunk is slightly curved at the top. Very slight in fact, and useful as a coffee table, plant stand, side table or even for a printer or other electronics. The original old trunk was found with old dried brown canvas and we carefully removed it- sanded the trunk smooth, and applied natural tung oil, two coats, then a coat of clear shellac. This trunk is gorgeous and is very useful for home or office. The inside has been freshly lined with brand new cotton floral fabric. Here are a few more details: Four slats on the top. Metal hardware on edges of trunk. Brass wash on the metal. With bulbous ends- these were helpful in moving the trunk from side to side. Replaced leather handles with 100 year old endcaps. A Victorian 1890's fancy silk moiré taffeta fitted bodice with 3-tiered ruffled yoke flap. Black beading and moderate sized gigot sleeves, in an overall leaf pattern& fully lined. It has a stand-up collar, and black sheer ruffled trim at yoke& wrist. Cream ruffled trim as well. Bodice is boned with 11 stays and has hook& eye side-closure, giving it a very couture fit. A combination of machine& hand-sewing. Colors are brown, sand& cream. Lining is a golden-brown(perhaps polished cotton) This garment was discovered in a trunk, in Pennsylvania. It is in great condition for age& doesn't appear to have ever been worn. The finished stand-up collar isn't sewn to garment yet(as described below) and there are a few stray threads from a fitting adjustment on the bodice. Probably by Hertwig Age: c1880s-early 90s Violin Case Trunk: 26” x 8.5” at widest part; probably American made Violin Case Trunk Age: c1910s era Contents: see below Details: We could not believe our eyes when we opened this c harming antique pasteboard violin case- not only was there an antique doll in there. But also bedding, dishes, china, silverware, and a trousseau of goodies! To judge by the doll, this was someone's favorite plaything, with pieces added over the years; we think the doll, contents and trunk have been together some time, and the beautiful Victorian paper and lace added rather more recently, to make it look more like the German paper lace doll boxes of days gone by! Ladies first. So here is the ... morelady's information: This German lady is a beauty! We regret that her costume is sewn to her. So no body pictures, but underneath it all she seems in remarkably pristine condition, with all china and muslin components the originals, and no chips, cracks, or restorations evident at all. She has a simply beautiful lowbrow china head with ooodles of black curls- look at how they swirl up on her forehead! Though she isn't marked as to maker. We suspect she's by one of the better firms, possibly Hertwig. We'll leave you to be the final judge! Very delicately painted, with her serene face and beautiful bright white china, she has a rather small chin and mouth in relation to her voluminous curls- quite appealing! Her face is quite striking. With a lovely symmetrical hairstyle, with deeply sculpted black curls and a well centered part down the middle. Her face has brightly painted pink cheeks, a beestung red heart mouth with upturned smile line, bright sky blue eyes with black and red lid lines and small black pupils, red nostril dots, and very thin and long one-stroke symmetrical black brows. A collection of Victorian doll's accessories comprising an antique domed-lidded paper-covered trunk. A miniature antique dome-lidded paper-covered trunk, two pretty Victorian printed cotton dresses circa 1860 and a pair of Victorian doll shoes with leather soles, size 6. These items are in fairly good condition: The larger chest is good. Though the side of the tray is lost. The miniature chest is in good condition with minor scuffs. The sprigged print dress is in good condition, with one button lost. The pink dress has two small holes in the lower frill. ANTIQUE LARGE VICTORIAN STEAMER TRUNK– ESTATE ITEM. A very nice. Well-cared for, large antique Victorian steamer trunk from the late 1800s.The chest has a domed top, typical of this time period, and has wood and metal construction. It features ornate iron hardware and trim. And leather side handles. Side Leather handles are intact. This wonderful trunk has not been refurbished and is in good condition overall. None of the veneer is missing. The interior’s“restored decopage” illustrated paper lining) has a decorative floral pattern through-out. The intact original trays are all inside and structurally sound. It has 4 compartments. 2 in a removable tray and one large main compartment. The upper tray is constructed of a heavy cardboard type material. The main compartment is accessible by lifting the sides of the top tray. The trunk has 4 wheels ... moreto assist moving the trunk. The trunk is very nice and is very much in original condition. The leather handles are intact and in their original condition. The trunk has the original hardware but the main lock has no key. There are two side clasp closures to the right and left of the center lock. There are 4 small intact wheels on the bottom of the trunk to ease movement. The wheels are in good working order. The trunk has no major dents or damage. There are a few minor dings but they are not very noticeable and they do not distract from the beauty of this trunk. The interior lining is in restored condition. It is quite lovely with only a tiny 1 inch repairable tear in the decorative paper lining. There are n ice embossed designs on the tin work on sides. Top, front& back. The Trunk/Chest measures 31.5 inches long 18.5 inches wide and 21.5 inches tall providing over 7.4 cubic feet of interior space. Weighs 65-75 lbs. ue to size. Beautiful Refinished Dome Top Steamer Antique Trunk w/ Dates , Label,Lock & Key
Beautiful Refinished Antique Dome Top Trunk with Working Lock and key. Here at Trunks-n-treasures we take pride in the trunks that we refinish. We have refinished hundreds of trunks. Each one with the craftsmanship that we have learned from growing up around our grandparents watching them run and refinish furniture in their antique shop. This particular trunk is a very nice, clean refinished dome top steamer trunk from the late 1800's. To begin refinishing this particular trunk we took all the paper off from the inside. We then removed some of the metal from between the slat boards to expose the wood underneath. This gorgeous trunk is made up of pine wood with oak slats. Once we removed the metal we sanded all the wood and then applied tung oil to it as a finish. After much research we have found that tung oil works best because it replenishes ... morethe wood and prevents it from drying out so quickly. On this trunk are two new Amish leather handles. The latches on this beautiful trunk also work to keep the lid secure. The latches have the patent date of July 9, 1872. The lid of this particular trunk also has the original manufacturer label in great condition. Also on the lid there is trunk stay to keep the lid open when wanted. The lock for this trunk comes with two working keys. The fancy metal hardware on this trunk has also been repainted by hand in black and gold leaf. As in any trunk of this age there are a few signs of wear but that is to be expected. The interior of the trunk is very clean. Dropping down to the bottom of the trunk we have also applied tung oil to the bottom to give it a new refinished look along with painting the metal black. The size of this trunk is perfect for its use as a hope chest to keep all your precious belongings in. This beautiful trunk would look very nice placed at the foot of a bed.
