There is a hidden secret compartment for additional storage when you lift out the interior desk table top from its two brass pull connectors. The drawers are all very deep and allow for abundant storage and there are several fish locks with tasseled keys included. There is also an interesting tasseled metal latch with which to use to snag the brass supports on the bottom double door shelves to use as a handle support to open them which would otherwise be a little more difficult to do. Here's what I stated about this spectacular cabinet's condition: Locking brass latch is missing from top of desk for fold down rosewood writing table to lock it in place. But it is made to stay in place securely without having to be locked in place. Bottom boards for side board feet have some wood missing in small spots but sideboard feet are attached securely and are very solid stable and secure. This is a gorgeous. Early 1800's, American Federal style secretary. Solid wood made from cherry and tiger oak. Has a beautiful tulip inlay. Antique Circa 1890’s Oak Secretary– Secretariat with a glass front Hutch Cabinet and front drop desk. It is wonderfully Crafted using solid quarter saw oak. Its elegant hand carved ribbon and floral edging motif with a candle shelf and beveled glass mirror are an eye catcher. The cabinet is designed with five shelves; four of them are adjustable with the bottom stationary. The secretariat section is designed with a drop/ pulls down desk top. One drawer and a lower cabinet. The inside of the desk has a multi wooden slot organizer. It measures 69” high x 13 ¾” deep x 39 ¾” wide. All the doors and one drawer maintain their original locks. It is missing three of its front lock plates. The one drawer does have its original hardware. Two handles and one lock face. It maintains a warm aged oak finish. There does appear to be some ware ... moreto its finish with a few scratch marks to the one side. The other side panel does have some kind of writing on it. I believe this can be cleaned up. Antique Secretary Desk Beautiful Original Late 1800's to Early 1900's
This is a original antique secretary desk. It is a beautiful piece and in nice condition considering it's age. The original company sticker is inside the bottom drawer. It is the Udell Works company. This company built furniture in Indiana and Chicago. At different times. The company existed from the late 1800's to the early 1900's. The wood grain is beautiful. It has a fold down top, two drawers, and space inside the fold down top for storage. There is a key hole lock but no key. The measurements are approximately 27-1/2 inches wide, 17 inches deep, and 41 inches high. When the fold down is open for writing, it extends another 13 inches, which makes a total depth approximately 30 inches when opened. There are some stains inside the desk and one of the drawers and some fading of the wood. Made of walnut and burled walnut veneer, the desk has 3 drawers in the lower section, the middle section is a drop front desk with pigeon holes and leather work space, the upper section has leaded glass doors and adjustable shelves. This is a wonderful copy of an old desk made by a great craftsman-artist. The desk is over 8' tall and is in show conditon. Never really used as a desk. Looks like brand new. It is a wonderful piece to put in a home or office where everyone will see it. And ask you questions about it. It was build out of solid wood. There is no reserve on this really beautiful antique walnut slant front drop lid secretary desk with bookcase top. The bookcase top has 2 shelves above the base of it. The desk is 80 inches tall. 39 inches wide, 17 inches deep. There are 2 dove tailed drawers at the writing surface level, one on either side of the 8 divided storage sections. The writing surface is in good condition. When the drop is open it is supported by 2 wooden boards that pull out under it. When the drop is closed, you can access 1 long dove tailed drawer and below the drawer 2 doors open to a base with 1 shelf in it. All the brass hardware is original and in good condition except a repaired handle on the left side of the bottom of the base. Excellent condition. Buyer must arrange and pay for pick up and delivery.

I believe This desk was made sometime in the 1800s. It's 100% hand carved. It does not appear to be a replica to look old. It has many makers mistakes hidden inside its drawers and the underneath(bottom) of the desk seems to have much age wear on it as if it has been taken very good care of but still needed some repairing along the way. Plantation 1860 Antique Walnut Secretary Desk. Map Chest. Said to be a"plantation desk" This style of secretary from about 1860 was used to manage a large farm or plantation. The locking drop front secured cubicles and a small drawer for papers and ledgers. The top lifts to a compartment for rolled maps and charts. A drawer below has hand dovetailed joints. Hand chamfered bottom and knobs attached with wooden screws. Delicate wave or waterfall moldings are beautiful on this American made furniture. Antique Victorian walnut secretary desk. In good condition with a few repairs. The drawer bottom has been replaced with plywood on the bottom drawer. Two small interior desk drawers have small round nails, some interior scratches, hinges have been moved on the drop front desk lid, some missing burl veneer and splits on bottom corners of drop front lid, some missing burl veneer on bottom right, a small piece of wood missing on bottom left. The Victorian secretary is all walnut with burl walnut highlights. Incised design on drop front lid, original wavy glass, chamfered panels on interior of bottom doors, original chamfered panels for secretary back. The secretary measures 79" high, 48" wide, and 18" deep. This a very nice quality piece of early Victorian furniture worthy of repair. And priced reasonably. Antique Slant Drop Front Oak Secretary Desk - Lionhead
I am not an expert but an antique furniture appraiser looked at this piece recently and stated this is a unique desk that he's never seen one quite like it. It was likely made in the early 1900's. Made of oak. And has a spooncarved front. There are no identifying markings. It is in excellent shape and it has the original finish. Brass fittings show a bit of tarnish but should clean up easily with a little TLC. Three of the posts on the brass rail at the top are loose but can be easily secured with a little bit of attention. One of the rail ends is stripped so that will need to be secured as well. Otherwise this piece is ready for your home. I would be happy to provide more detailed photos if requested.
