Original marble and mirror and the original early wood ring drawer pulls that are attached with wooden screws and blocks, and the original casters intact on the base. This high quality dresser has early dove-tailed construction on the dresser base top up under the marble and also on the drawer ends; and an old label with an original owners name handwritten with Chicora, SC written below on the base up under the marble. This dresser has a grand, majestic presence with incredible carvings and details; and amazingly left in its original state.you can almost feel the history in this piece when you touch it.incredible! This grand 19th century dresser measures 89 1/2 inches tall to the top of the fancy carved crest on the mirror. Height to the marble top is 35 inches, total width of 49 inches, total depth of 23 1/2 inches and weighs approximately 250 lbs, This dresser does dis-assemble into 5 pieces for easier handling during shipping and moving( base, marble, mirror, two carved arm supports) The original oval mirror measures 38 1/2 inches high by 27 3/4 inches and is attached to the fancy carved arm supports with the original walnut finial screws and the mirror does pivot front to back to adjust for viewing. Beautiful Antique Secretary Desk Honey Brown Roll Top Desk
Really beautiful desk that we got from an estate sale many years ago paid several hundred dollars for it at the time. It has remained unused and mostly for decorations for the last few years. The chair is a bit rickety and needs some screw tightening but we were able to use it without a problem when we needed to. The desk is in good shape everything needs a bit of oil in the joints but again we were able to use everything in the desk as is. The desk is structurally in perfect condition an absolute beauty and a gem. But*review the pictures for some slight marks from wear and tear* We aren't sure what year the desk was made but it is absolutely beautiful. This was something that we had hoped to use but we just didn't have a need for it. And again to be clear. Some of the drawers need some oil but some WD-40 would make them work just ... morefine. This handsome antique WALNUT portable Secretary's Box is both a highly collectible and very useful item. It was crafted circa 1880. The burnished wood case opens its doors to reveal a plethora of compartments that were used to organize the business person's work- pens. Seals, stamps, papers. Left drawer closed with metal pin insert. Bottom has drawer that opens. It has lock and key, though does not lock. It can still be used in business or home office in original capacity, or as objet d'art; there are many modern versions, most marketed as portable desk organizers. This antique has the craftsmanship and history to be most desirable. The wood may be a burnished walnut, or possibly, a tropical hardwood. Please note how the craftsman who made this carefully matched up the exceptional wood grain patterns on the doors. You don't see them like this anymore. This must have taken months to complete. It was passed down for generations to a friend and he gave it to me for helping him move. UNBELIEVEABLE WORK. I have never seen one this nice before. Please notice that due to being over a 200 hundred years old it does show signs of wear and cracking in places. He told me that he believes it is from the 1700's so if you know anything more about this please let me know. A very fine antique. Circa 1870's, Renaissance Revival walnut secretary bookcase. Two piece construction. The bookcase retains the carved crest. Its interior has three adjustable original maple shelves, maple back boards. Both doors have wavy glass panels, lock with escutcheons, no key. The secretary case has a walnut slant drop front desk(with new replacement maple boards writing support. The cubbyhole has two burl walnut fronted drawers. The long drawers below have gutta percha pulls. Furniture measures 8"1" 97" tall by 3'9" 45" wide by 21" deep, the drop shelf writing surface 31-1/2" wide by 17-1/2" deep. Very good plus condition: original dry finish, glass panels without damage. All locks present, but no key. Minor horizontal crack to a secretary board on each side. Offered here is an excellent antique 19th century English secretary desk. This desk is in very good antique condition. It stands 87" high. Is 44" wide at the widest point and 22" deep. Each side of the base is built with a single 22" mahogany board. The desk features an interior fitted with 6 small drawers, a locking(key included) door interior compartment, and flanking that, 2"hidden" vertical pull out cash and document compartments which are disguised as books. These have actual leather bindings labeled in gold ROWE'S WORKS 1 and ROWE'S WORKS 2. Please see photos. The base houses 4 graduated drawers and the pull outs to support the desk writing surface. This desk is solid and stable. This desk. As is the case with all truly old furniture, does have some condition issues. These are the following: One ... morepane of the multi paned glass doors has been replaced on one door. There is a split on one side of the desk base. Please see photos. There is a repair to the lower exterior right corner of the fall front. One leg was repaired. I believe that the hardware was replaced many years ago. HELLO! I've been told several a couple of different things about what this piece might be. So I'll just let you know what I know. It's wood. It's put together with nails only(no glue, screws.etc. It's about 7 inches tall and 10 inches across. One antiquer I spoke with told me it was what they called a"secretary" box. Caddy] It was probably kept under store counters with ink well containers. Envelopes/ post cards, stamps to cancel the mail as it was received and mailed out. Pens and etc. The handles made it convenient to move from under the counter to the top of the counter. The bottom slot was reserved for bookkeeping ledger. They were also found in telegraph offices. I've had people speculate about it being an ancient tansu. Apothecary cabinet, sewing caddy, knitting caddy and tea caddy.all antique. This is a really well built secretary desk/bookcase. Nice heavy oak. Sawtooth shelf brackets. Knapp dovetailing in the drawers dates the piece between 1870 and 1900. The smaller mirror is bevelled. The pulls are all a nice heavy brass. The condition is excellent. The cabinet is 81 inches tall. 55 inches wide and 17 inches deep. There are six skeleton locks. But no key. The cabinet on the upper left has a mirror on the back wall. There are two oak shelves that can be adjusted with the sawtooth oak bracket(see photo) It is 27 inches wide 45 inches tall and 9.5 inches deep. The two drawers on the lower left are 8 inches tall. 27 inches wide and 9 inches deep. The drop front desk lid is 18 inches tall and 23 inches wide. Inside the desk ar cubby hole and a small drawer. Below the desk part is a drawer that is 4 1/2 inches tall. 23 inches tall ... moreand 9 inches deep. Below that drawer is a cabinet that is 16 1/2 inches tall. 23 1/2 inches wide and 14 inches deep. The cabinet is in excellent condition. The carved top piece is removable. Also the remainder of the cabinet is in two pieces. Witht he larger part sitting on the shoerter base. Local pickup only. Desk has scroll work, brass hardware, and leg designs that are characteristic of furniture from the 1800's. The color of the desk is a dark brown with hint of red. It is a beautiful desk. It has had some minor repairs. There is a modern screw on the backside of the desk. Also there was a repair that is photographed of one area that has been re-glued. Also one crack can be seen on the right back corner of the desk. Desk also has some surface wear which should be expected for a piece this old. This is an Eastlake secretary from the late 1800s. I think. It's solid wood construction, mostly walnut with walnut burl panels, very tasteful Eastlake geometric details, original wavy glass and beautiful original patina. Three adjustable shelves in the top book case; drop-down writing surface with original felt, two drawers, file bins and pigeon holes; one fixed self in the base. The two locks work with a replacement key, but they are a little sticky, and one of the rosettes that covers the writing panel pivot is missing. Measures: 42 x 85 x 11.5 top, 20 base. A beautiful diminutive American solid cherry two piece secretary bookcase bureau with a cabinet section.possibly a country linen press?is up for auction fresh from a Charleston estate sale. There is the two door and two drawer top section over four drawers in the base section. The two doors are paneled. All of the hardware is original as are the lock sets. There is one original key. The drawers will also lock. I did not add a photo of the hand planed back boards but have such if anyone is interested. The top of the base opens up to reveal a nice work section. for sale probably the nicest period walnut secretary piece to be had. it was advertised as belter some 20-25 years ago at an estate auction in miss. i expect it is mitchell and rammelsburg but it does not matter. it is civil war era probably made circa 1860-1870. the drawer are hand dove tailed for joints and the bottoms are hand chamfered. it is in perfect condition. the drawers are all solid and do not wiggle or wobble. all the drawers and doors fit perfectly. all drawers and doors have functional locks that work perfectly with the original key. there are no seams in the construction. the sides of the lower drawer portion is one board like 18+ inches wide as well as the sides of the bookcase portion. the walnut used in the construction is of the finest quality with wonderful and perfect grain. it as you see has a pierced carved crest or ... morecrown board that is superbly done and matches the carving on the top of the arched doors of the bookcase. inside the cubbies are perfect along with the drawer. it is a 2 piece affair. The bookcase and cubbies section lifts off the base. it sits on the base and is secured with pegs on either side. i expect the leather on the drop front has been replaced. it is in great condition. the whole piece is just about as good as it can get, not damages or blemishes anywhere that are noteworthy. of course all the large key covers are carved as well as the drawer pulls. it is just a very very nice item. i think it cost about 4500 20 some years ago. i have still have several secretaries and have owned many many of them. i have never owned a nicer one. it is probably the tallest one i have ever owned. it is 98.5 inches to the top of the crest with its original porcelain casters. the cabinet portion is 33 inches tall and 44 inches wide, and 19.5 inches deep. it is 65.6 inches from the top of the cabinet to the top of the crest. the outside of the bookcase is 42 inches wide and 122 inches deep. the inside of the bookcase is 35 inches tall, 10 inches deep, and 40.5 inches wide. the secretary

PLEASE SCROLL DOWN TO SEE ADDITIONAL PHOTOS We are pleased to be offering today this wonderful elm period abante desk that dates from the 1850s era and came in on our last container from Denmark. This type of furniture is called Beidermeier. It is German, and it is very well sought after here in America. We are always fortunate enough to have four or five of this hard to find stylish items in every container in very nice hand-picked good condition. This particular piece, they told me was made from elm, it doesn't look like our elm but I would call it a maple color or style that has a lot of burl to it. It is in wonderful condition. The only things I can see wrong with it is that there is a water ring on the top, where someone sat a plant pot over the years, and the handle is missing on the pull down writing lid. There are no keys for ... morethe drawers, but we never guarantee the locks as the always need to be cleaned and greased by a lock conditioner in your area. The only reason you would need a key for this item would be if there were no handles, but someone has put on replacement handles on these as they originally came with a key hole cover. Someone in the last 20-30 years has cleaned up the chest giving it a beautiful amber glow finish. The size of the chest is 41.5 inches wide, 17.5 inches deep and 53 inches tall. It has one drawer above the drop down lid and three drawers below. The base has wonderful turnip style turn feet. The chest has a multi molded top and cast brass handles.
