Antique Large Mahogony Dining Room Table With Mix Matched Chairs
I have had this table for 3+ years. It is a magnificent piece of craftsmanship. All together opened up it measures 48" wide by about 111" long. It is from the 1800's so it has eye and hook which connects the 3 pieces together and swing out extra legs to add strength and stability to the drop down leaves on the center piece. There are normal wear and tear for a piece this large but nothing substantial. The legs are beautifully crafted and it is a very solid table without being super heavy. The 6 chairs that came with it have repair damage on 2 of the chairs. It can seat 12 so I have 4 other chairs that do not match the other chairs and I also added 2 other mix matched chairs to seat all 12. I can't think of anything else about it but am open to any questions you might have. ANTIQUE MAHOGANY DINING TABLE MASSIVE CLAW AND BALL FEET EARLY 19TH CENTURY
MAGNIFICENT Mahogany Claw and Ball foot table. This one dates to the early to mid 19th century. The table comes from a local estate. There are no leaves with it and the top and base have metal brackets added so it will not open up without removing them. The table can be used as found or it could be restored to it's full glory with some work and some new leaves. The top is 53" in diameter and the apron extends down 4 1/2" It stands 29" high from the floor. The massive claw and ball feet are over 6" wide! Restored this table would open up to fit many leaves. The top boards are solid mahogany with the most beautiful grain. It will take some glue and bracing to have the table open correctly for leaves but it would be a worthwhile project. There are 2 leaves that pull out on each end, and they are 17 by 38 inches. When these leaves are up and in place, the top becomes approximately 96 inches in length by 38 inches wide. Wonderful Set Antique Chairs& Table Wicker Furniture with Marble Top Good Condition Hard to find Handsome set of furniture in remarkable good condition. All chairs& table are solid and stand evenly on the floor. The set is not perfect- there are some breaks in the decorative wicker that are age& use related and not structural. There are some stains on the marble top- which we did photograph. The table is typical of Haywood Wakefield wicker stands in the design with double wide legs and the X stretcher in the base. THe marble is probably a replacement in that the wicker tables usually had a wooden top made of oak. The marble is not a composit or reproduction but real stone in a salmon& beige color with darker veins running thru it. There are some darker brown colors in the marble visible in the 3rd picture which have the appearance ... moreof stains but are actually in the marble itself. Very attractive'Small Space' table& chairs. Well designed with chairs that fit neatly into the space between the table legs. We estimate the set was made in the depression era of the 1930s. for sale i have a very nicely carved unusual 6 foot dining table. the table could be made to open much wider by putting a different set of slides on the bottom. in fact. Offered for auction is this wonderful square walnut/walnut veneer Ren. Revival extension dining table with 3 leaves. The octagonal pedestal splits revealing a single leg to support the extended table in the middle. The legs are positioned on the center pedestal diagonally and have two columns per leg to support the top. One column is half round and mounted on the pedestal and the other is free standing. Being mounted about midway on the leg. All are completely veneered in burl walnut veneer. The legs have a downswept angle to them and have carved roundels, etched lines, applied veneered walnut panels and terminate in a furled leaf motif as the tip of the foot curls under to the large casters. The various pictures show you how the table looks with all and with none of the 12" leaves in place. With one leaf, the table is 59" 2 leaves-71" and with all 3 leaves- 83" long. Table is standard 29" tall. All the runners inside the table are oak and the mechanism works very smoothly and easily. The top has been redone with a smoother, glossy surface, but the rest of the table is in original, unrefinished condition. One caster on the pedestal is missing but the table functions fine without it. Dark, rich walnut color and patina and because of weight and size, local pickup only please. BALTIMORE, MD C. 1820-35 In the manner of John Needles(Baltimore. 1786-1878) crafted of solid mahogany over reeded legs Item# 120009RUW29 The present example is a very fine solid mahogany full dining table. Capable of seating six people comfortably when it is fully opened. The mahogany leaves are single solid boards with reeding along the edges that mirrors the legs, each hanging on original hand forged iron hinges to easily swing up and down. A flamed mahogany veneer completes the apron of the table. The table has six legs, an expensive feature that was time consuming and reserved for a more affluent client. It allows the table to remain firmly rooted while the leaves are extended, truly making it a fully functional dining table. The legs swing over knuckle joints formed of solid oak. In unison ... morewith the exterior of the table frame, this surrounding what appears to be pine secondary wood making up the inside of the table frame. These thick secondary woods are remarkably strong and allow the leg to remain in nearly untouched condition after nearly 200 years. The table rests over turned double-rings over sharp reeding, to terminate again in double ringlets over tapered feet. This is a very attractive example for collectors of American forms. Crafted in a distinct manner to that of John Needles. Needles is well known as an artisan with significant output in the Baltimore. Maryland area during the height of the American Classical period. Labeled and documented works by the shop of John Needles are typically accompanied by unusually strong and nearly triangular reeding on legs or pillars, typically in tables though also found in large cabinets and sideboards. This auction is for an authentic antique drafting table from the early 1900's. Used by a city engineer throughout the first half of the 20th century the table has an industrial quality to it. The base is made of solid. Sturdy oak and the top is traditionally made of pine. There are a number of heavy cast iron wing nuts and glides used for adjusting its angle and height. This drafting table is fully adjustable and can be tilted along an approximately 320 degree axis.
