Georgian Antique 1750-1760 Oak Secretary Desk / Bureau
18th Century Georgian Country Oak banded with Mahogany English 1750-1760 Slant Top Secretary AUTHENTIC! not a Repoduction! Country of Orgin: England. Purchased in 1988 while living in the UK at Antique Dealer in Great Missenden, Buckenhamshire. Have reciept and document of authenticy. AGE: circa 1750- 1760 Georgian Maker: British(could be England. Wales, or Scottland) Style: Slant Front/ Bureau style with three over three large drawers. Unlike other slant ront desks of this era the writting/ front drops down and rests on outside drawers. It does not have pull out blade rails that support the writting surface the pulled out top drawers accomplish that. It has a fitted writting surface of genuine leather( this was a refurbishment some time in the mid 1980's) There are small drawers and cubby holes within and even secret compartments. All ... morebrass hardware is intact however one drawer handle is loose. Bonus hidden cartonnier featuring a well. The cavity beneath a sliding panel, directly behind the writting surface behind the closed doors. Another hidden drawer is behind the closed doors as well. Bracket feet are solid and level. Lock: yet no key Dimensions: height 45" width 37 3/8" depth 19 7/8" Condition: This Country Secretary was built as/ and designed to be a utilitarian Country piece of furniture it is not a highly polished. Unused Hepplewith museum piece. It could use a good cleaning and some very minor restorations. It has miscellanous mars, dings, scratches, wear, shrinkage and separation due to age and use but it all adds to the rich patina of age. It does need a small amount of repair to the mahogany banding on the left front. I don't think this secretary has ever been fully restored. It was a real workhorse at a working country manor house/ estate. Definatly shows some patching and mending from the many years of it's long life. This is a wonderfully tiny student school desk; almost to the point of being a miniature; no doubt intended for the very early grades. See the comparison in the photos next to a standard table and chair. As shown in the photos. The height is 23" and is adjustable in the range of 20" to 28" The top measures 21" wide by 13" The seat is shown at 11" and is also adjustable. It is made by the Chandler Adjustable Chair and Desk Co, Boston Mass. The patent dates are 1893 and 1886. It has genuine cast iron legs(not stamped steel) which have been repainted black, the original color. The all-wooden desk portion and chair have been nicely refinished. It has the proper Bakelite No. 60 ink well. The legs and the chair base have felt pads to protect flooring. Up for sale is this antique industrial machine age goose neck Hubbell desk lamp with an ornate cast iron base. This lamp has some age and wear as pictured but overall it is in good condition. It has been tested and it is in good working order as well but for prolonged use it should be rewired. The lamp measures 13 1/2" tall humped over and 22 1/2" tall standing straight up. I have two as shown but this listing is for just one of them. The joints have metal brackets as shown. I have not tried to take them off but they both need some TLC. Also.On one of them two of the castors come off if you lift up the chair but I'm sure this is an easy fix. It looks like they were adjustable at one time but someone put brackets on the bottom to keep it from adjusting. I took quite a few pictures to show any damage and the brackets. The one on the left also has brackets on the base but the one on the right does not. They do however still swivel. Purchase this desk about 20 years ago. I am not sure how old it is if I guessed I would think maybe the 1920's or 30's but I really don't know. It was refinished years ago. Has stain in some of the drawers. Finish isn't in bad shape needs some polishing and clean up. A few of the drawers are swollen. Will probably be okay if it is stored in a heated area. It is in a dry but cold garage at this point. A few of the slides need to be realigned and fastened down. I think it is Maghony and it has burled veneer flame front drawers. Antique Childs Desk & Chair Art Deco Ealy Century Maple 1900-1940 Secretary Desk
Here is a beautiful child's desk& chair set. Somewhere between 1900& 1940. This is a small version of the larger ones made then. Picture#8 shows some letters& words that I cannot seem to make out. Of what was probably the manufactor. It has the original stain, which has not even been attempted to re-finish. Some think that would ruin this set. Children have definitely used it, for the wear you see, but it is solid and sturdy, and has lots of wear left in it. There are three drawers on the right side, and the top one locks. you may be able to find a key for this, or ask a locksmith to make one. Above the top drawer that locks is a little slide-out board for writing on. There is a large center long drawer too. The chair swivels, and has cast iron framing, with an adjusting center screwing device which allows for the chair height ... moreto be as low to the floor as 14 inches, up to 16 inches, easily, and taller if need be, but it gets a little wabbly after that, because it is only connecting with one cylinder. At it's taller setting, the chair is 29 inches tall, from top of back to floor. The seat is 12 5/8" wide and 12 3/4" deep. This is extremely well made, and sure belongs in someone's home with a child who will enjoy and use it. The desk measure 29 inches tall, and is 33 1/2 inches wide and 18 inches deep.

Antique/Vintage six drawer mahogany desk by Cavalier Furniture company. The Cavalier Furniture company started out as the Tennessee Furniture company. And became the Cavalier Furniture Company in 1938. We are unsure of the age of this desk but looking at the construction we would estimate it was most likely made in the 1940s. The styling is American Revival. This desk carries the makers plaque mounted on the inside of the bottom left drawer. The desk measures 46 inches wide. By 18 1/4 inches deep, and 29 3/4 tall. Condition- The overall condition of this desk is good. The joinery on the drawers is tight, and the drawers pull smoothly. The top of the desk looks to have been stripped, and there are a ... morefew groove depressions(not scratches) in the top. The grain could be raised to eliminate these grooves. The finish is a bit uneven, but I like the character it adds to the piece. I suppose the desk could be refinished if need be. This is a well made little desk. With some classic styling. Antique Lux Waterbury Desk Clock Bar Scene Pub Scene Working Wind-Up Shelf Clock
This auction is for a rare novelty desk clock by Lux of Waterbury. Connecticut. As you can see, a previous owner made it a wood case which they then painted gold. While the case does not add much to the presentation, it's done a good job of protecting and preserving the clock, which still works perfectly with a quick wind. The hands are also moving without interruption. The decorative pub scene face has good color and shows no wear. The metal frame is scuffed some on the front and back but there are no major dings. The glass is also fully intact. I will be shipping it in the frame as I do not want to disassemble the clock to remove it. The clock alone measures approximately 3 3/4" square.

Antique Style Mahogany Writing Desk Made by Sligh USA
This is a very nice pretty clean writing desk. I would say the top is solid mahogany the rest is a veneer. The brass handles are all original and solid brass. The drawers all run fine. You do have either side a file drawer. The top drawer has the makers label( Sligh Holland Michigan) not really sure if they are still in business. L would guess the desk is around 30 years old, but would be a better quality desk than some they make today. The gold on the top is a little worn at the front as you will see in the picture but the leather is in pretty good condition. Measurements are 56 wide.26 deep,30 high, and the knee hole is 24 wide,24 1/2 high.

Unusual Antique writing slope, lap desk, box desk, brass inlay, very old
Estate sale find. I am no expert but was told this could be 18th Century. A beautiful antique writing desk. It has a fold out writing surface and a covered compartment on top. Included are two glass and brass ink wells. The glass on the ink wells in full of air bubbles and were molded in a fairly primitive mold. The adhesive that held the brass caps on the glass ink wells has failed over the years but the caps are included. This writing desk is in need of some tlc. It has lifting, missing, damaged veneer and missing and damaged brass inlay. It has a lock,but no key is included and the key hole decoration is missing. There is a repaired section on the top decorative crest. The repaired section. Pictured in picture 8, is missing the brass inlay and has had the missing brass portion painted in with gold paint. Up for auction is this antique marble desk set consisting of a dual inkwell base. Letter holder and ink blotter. The marble is white, with grey and gold veining. The base, with recessed pen/accessory well, is 16 3/8" wide and 10" deep. The base marble is 3/4" thick and stands on four 1/4" brass feet. The brass-hinged inkwell compartments are 2" tall, 3 1/2" wide, and 2 1/2" deep, and contain removable ink cups(with some chipping as seen in photo) Included in the set are a marble ink blotter(with a wooden rocker) and a letter holder, with three brass dividers. The pieces are in good condition. There is a chip on the underside of the letter holder at one of the brass attachments. The total weight of the three pieces is approximately 16 pounds.
