for auction a pair of very nice antique french gold gilt chairs. they are circa 1880 or so i believe. at any rate they are both large arm chairs with very nice form and carvings not only on the crest but arms and legs as well. jeanie just had them recovered in a very nice fabric that depicts bees. the cost to recover these two chairs was in excess of 500.00 but i have forgotten the exact amount. as i said they are large and it took a lot of fabric. chairs are in very good condition with only a few minor injuries to the gold gilt surfaces. i hope the pictures are good enough to actually give a better description about their condition and appearance than i have in mine. anyway. Pair of Antique Wood and Upholstered Arm Chairs- French Parlor Chairs? I looked all over eBay. Then all over the internet and couldn't find anything even close enough to these chairs to help me put a name on them. They are unique and beautiful but need a bit of TLC. I don't know just how old these chairs are but they were my mothers chairs and were part of our home my whole life, so we're talking at least 60 years. The arms have beautiful inlay and much of the detail appears to be hand carved. Mom always had a taste for the good stuff! And antiques. But I can't guarantee these to be older than 60ish. The upholstery is rather yellowed although she had them reupholstered about 30 years ago. The grain on the wood is raised in places. You can see it in some of the pictures. There is a slight separation where the arms meet the ... moreback, but these chairs are ROCK SOLID! They hold my 200 lbs without complaint. No creaks or wobbles. All four feet rest flat on the floor. These ARE PROBABLY UPS-ABLE. They are bulky. But not that heavy and I think I can get them into a box that will meet the size requirements. There is a small possibility that you may have to go motor freight, but I don't think it will come to that and if it turns out too expensive we could cancel the auction result and release you. The shipping includes insurance. The estimated price of two very large boxes and the cost to have UPS pick them up here. I have also provided a 10 day window on shipping to give me time to find the boxes and make all the preparations. Antique French Aubusson Set of Four Hand Carved Walnut Chairs
Just in we have a handsome antique set of four antique French Aubusson chairs. The chairs are beautifully hand carved with gold gilt detailing. The chairs are upholstered in Aubusson tapestry. The four chairs all depict different rural scenes. The backs of the chairs are all figural while the seats are animals. There are two different foxes. One rooster, and one heron. The chairs are sturdy and measure 38" tall at the back 22" wide and 18" deep. The chairs frames are hand carved wood what we believe to be walnut. We date the chairs circa 1870-1900 possibly earlier but we feel secure with that dateline. The finials are bronze gold gilt ormolu. The frames of the chairs are sound in structure with some minor loss of detail. The chairs sit well. The under structure appears to be spring loaded tied frames and horsehair stuffed. ... moreThere are four small wood florets absent on the chair side legs and loss of part of the center wreath top back on one chair. The Aubusson chairs are in need of some minor restoration of the tapestry. The rooster chair seat requires the most attention. The tapestry backs are all in good condition with the exception of the shepard with the lamp. He has some splits that need mending. A few minor splits but no loss or fraying. A clever seamstress with a fine needle could rejoin. There is one repair to the tapestry which likely was a professional job as it is that good. To inspect see rooster seat lower left quadrant. The chair backs are silk which need to be redone as there is damage on several and a better choice of fabric should be made. Please refer to photos as I have included lots of close ups. Pair Of Antique 19th Century Victorian Cane Chairs, Circa 1850-1890.
These are two victorian cane chairs for sale. As the photos show. One is in good condition, with only issue being a section of the cane seating that has become stretched out. Still quite comfortable and stable. The other chair needs to be completely remade. It has been painted black. And the cane seating is completely ripped. It also may need to be sanded, since the wood has some sun damage, and some slight splintering had just started to occur. But is minor enough that sanding it down to the raw wood will likely smooth all of this out. The chairs are approx 34" tall. 17" wide, and seats are 17" high. Bidding starts at $75. Shipping varies. A Set Of 4 Gorgeous Antique Victorian Parlor/Dining Chairs. The chairs are beautifully designed. With a slight balloon backing that tapers to a sleek wasteline. Victorian era. Circa 1870's-1890'S. THIS AUCTION IS FOR ALL 4 CHAIRS. This style was very popular during the Rococo revival period of the late 19th century(toward the end of the victorian era) And these are great examples of a later Rococo Design. Though it's possible they were from the earlier part of the Rococo revival period. The frames are a solid hardwood. Almost surely maple, though victorian era furniture is not my expertise, and I'm not familiar with various stains that may create a lighter look to a typically darker wood. Side Chair Dimensions: Approximate 39" tall. 19" wide, 17" deep, and the seat height is approx 19" Armchair Dimensions: ... moreApprox 41" tall. 22" wide, 18" deep, and the seat height is approx 19" Condition: These are great late 19th century chairs. In fully functional condition as is! The upholstery has no rips. Tears, or seam splits. It likely the ORIGINAL upholstery on the chairs, as it has the age appropriate wear on it. And the patina is intact on the chairs, particularly the armchair(where the patina was not disturbed due to the arms of the chair preventing pants or other clothing from contacting it during regular use) One chair has some loose joints. And the seat springs need to be redone. But nothing other than reconditioning the chair. A different chair had the top 2 inches of wood broken at some point. And has been repaired, but is hardly noticable. The armchair has a repaired break on the left arm. But is completely stable and shows no visible weakness. It has one small loose joint on the other arm. But this is very slight, just needs to be re-affixed with a furniture glue or lacquer.
