Set of Eight Regency Style Antique Solid Rosewood Dining Chairs 20th Century Item# 130110KUX05 This very attractive set of chairs is crafted with incredibly expensive solid rosewood in every component excepting the corner blocks. Of exceptional quality. The wood is remarkably hard and takes on a high polish for a deep and dark glow in the grains. The ribbed and random flow of the wood is unmatched by any domestic wood, entirely captivating and without peer. Crafted after the Regency form of the early 19th Century, these chairs were crafted at some point during the 20th Century. The crest rail is back-curving and deep, flanked on either side as the stiles rise from the foot through the curve of the crest; the splat is crafted of two large X forms carved of solid rosewood in a half-lap at the cross-section. Pair Antique French Country Club Chairs White Fabric Green Carved Wood Trim
Fabulous Pair of French Country Large Club Chairs The white waffle fabric is not the original fabric. They had been recently re-upholstered when I bought them about 10 years ago. I bought these from an antiques dealer in Florida who said they came from France. But I don't have any documents to prove provinence. They are very heavy chairs. Very sturdy, with feather filled cushions. I paid around $2500 for these chairs including freight and tax. The upholstery is a really interesting waffle textured white fabric. There is some light yellow-ish staining on the upholstery. Mostly on the inside of the arms near the seat and near the button holes on the back. There is light brownish staining on the front edges of the arms, on the edge at the top and some on the seat. This is mostly from the studs bleeding when steam cleaning the chair, not ... morefrom being dirty. There are also a few pulls in the fabric, mostly on the inside of the chairs and seat cushions. The staining is light and not immediately noticeable. The chairs are still in very good condition and are an impressive pair of club chairs. I still love these chairs and normally wouldn’t be selling them but our new place just doesn’t work with this style. It’s possible a little bleach or a professional cleaning can get them back to completely bright white. Pair of American Windsor Yellow Painted Antique Side Chairs"Rounded Tablet Top" Banister Back Form Massachusetts. Probably Worcester County c. 1826 Item# 130010DXN26 This is a somewhat rare pair of American Windsor chairs from the first quarter of the 19th Century. Usually termed a"Banister-Back" It has a highly isolated regional characteristic in it's"Rounded-Tablet" top- one example of such a chair is available in American Windsor Chairs(Nancy Goyne Evans. P. 497 f. 7-65- also, similar back formation p. 494 f. 7-62) depicting a chair branded by Jonathan Whitney of Templeton, Massachusetts c. 1828-35. The term"rounded top" was employed in business accounts of Luke Houghton, a windsor chairmaker also from Worcester County, Massachusetts, describing what continued to be a somewhat limited design ... morefrom 1825-40. These chairs were almost without exception crafted with either four or five spindles. The present example retains a very early painted surface. The original surface seemingly preserved at least in part beneath the later yellow paint. It is difficult to thoroughly examine all wood elements, but from a close visual inspection it would appear all elements are maple except for the plank seat, a single solid board of wonderfully shaped white pine with a lovely nut-brown oxidization to the underside. The painted tablet is floral in nature, the paint heavily oxidized to hide the fine garden beneath. The spindles and stiles have a soft backward slope, making the seat supportive and comfortable- the turned stiles flatten on the face, while the spindles swell in a robust turned ball before tapering sharply along the back and into the crest rail. The seat is incised along the back edge with a shallow channel, this coupled with black painted lines that serve to accentuate the shield-form of the scooped plank. PAIR Antique 19th C French Period EMPIRE Mahogany & Gilt Carved CHAIRS
Fresh from New York City Madison avenue Estate. We have a pleasure to offer you this magnificent pair of French antique Early 19th century Period Empire Flamed Mahogany and Parcel Gilt CHAIRS. I fell in love with them on the first sight. They have slightly curved legs, High framed center panel rests, featuring an awesome Empire parcel gilt carved flower scroll center cartouche. It was gilt over red base, just phenomenal. Please take your time going over photos, look closely at the quality and detail of construction, closeups of the grain of wood and elegance of this pair. Also note in the last two photos, focus on criss cross pegging(pegs) that are holding this pair of beauties together. No screws or nails in it's construction. The condition of the chairs is what you would expect from normal wear of the chairs that are aproaching 200 ... moreyears of age. Upholstery is most likely from the first half of 20th century, thick yellowish greenish leather that has wear, could be restored if you wish or reupholstered. Either way, I took great estimate for polishing(cleaning) the wood and upholstery and priced it in such way where after all the job is done you will have a pair of Empire Period Gems for half of what they are worth. Please shop around, you will not find this style pair with a remotely close price, much less to have them all in original condition solid as the Rock of Gibraltar. Again. Good original condition, wear from use and handling, but golden. Guildhall by Drexel Heritage Furniture Dining Room Set. China cabinet. Table and six chairs, including two arm chairs. Sturdy, solid oak. 1960s. All pieces are in very good condition and well maintained. One arm chair needs to be re-caned(see photo) but the rest are in good condition. Table dimensions are 72 inches by 40 inches. Two included leaves are 18 inches each, expanding the table length to 108 inches. Pads are included for the table and leaves(see photo) The china cabinet is 51 inches wide by 80 inches high. The cabinet is 13.5 inches deep. Doors and drawers are in good working order. A quality set, well-built and cared for by one owner since new. Antique 3 Piece Parlor Victorian Set. This has a sofa and 2 chairs. They have medallion back on each piece. Very well done fabric. There is slight scuffing on one chair. Some of the joints on the wood need to be re-glued. There is a red burgundy fabric. There is raised wood carvings. There are some scratches and scuffs on the wood.
