LARGER THAN MOST BALLOON CHAIRS with wider seats and wider backs. I must say; I am happy to offer a set of lovely early Victorian solid mahogany( possibly be walnut but I don't think so) balloon side chairs. These balloon chairs are a bit larger than most. The top crests are hand carved and a small repair, got to mention it, was made when a small piece came off top for some reason. It has nothing to do with structural integrity or the chair's good looks. Not even noticable. Other than that.legs are good, etc. The wood is darker in person. It seems the flash makes the wood look lighter in apperance; however it is the best way for you to see every detail. The age of the chair is early 19c to near to mid 1800s. However due to the fact these are a bit larger and more beefy than most, I tend to think earlier. They are quite nice, so I ... moretook the time to have them professionally restored with good springs, etc and they look wonderful. The fabric is a vintage(but bought new 23 years ago and saved by me. the equine lover) Waverly pattern. It reminded me of a southern plantation, where I tend to think these chairs would look handsome and at home. Antique Cane Chairs - Primitive Wooden 1880s ornate hand carved
This set of 4 Antique Primitive chairs were hand crafted in the late 1800's in Bloomsburg Pennsylvania. They are really unique beautiful chairs. Lots of elegant hand carvings adorn the back and arm rests as well as under the seat. The seat measures 18" from the floor and over all chair height is 33" 3 of the 4 have recently been recaned. These would be a beautiful set for a dining table or for desk chairs. As they are over 120 years old they do show some age however it appears to be only minor cosmetic issues. Structurally these chairs are solid. I have sat in all four for an extended period to make sure. Please refer to the photos to judge condition for yourself. If you have any questions. Please ask. Oscar Wilde A Cracking Pair of Early Victorian Oak Gothic Revival Side Chairs by Holland& Sons c.1840 Period: Early Victorian Provenance: Unknown Date: c.1840-50 Width: 20 inches(at maximum) Depth: 21 inches(at rear legs) Height: 37.5 inches(at maximum) The pair of early Victorian period gothic revival side chairs. Carved in oak with carved gothic decoration to the cresting rail of gothic roundels, the rectangular padded back and seat covered in nailed racing green leatherette on faceted octangular legs joined by chamfered square stretchers with brass caps and castors, the underside of both chairs stamped'HOLLAND& SONS' and one with'W. MILES' The condition of both chairs is mainly ... moregood and entirely original. With a natural and honest patina, deep colour and no sign of any restoration. The sprung seats are in good sturdy order and do not need re-springing or re-webbing. The leatherette is original and has considerable wear but, we think, charming and desirable. This pair of French Charles X Fauteuils herald from the first years of the 19th Century. Crafted of solid beech under layers of wax, the surfaces exhibit a fine patina and warmth; covered in an early velvet, almost certainly replaced some time ago, the textile is worn and mellowed. The result is quite visually striking. The form is distinctly Neoclassical. A clear development of the taste of Louis XVI forms in a post-Napoleonic era. The chairs maintain an utterly square profile, the square backs framed in a plain molded frame crested by a large single flower with foliage flowing outward. The stuffed and comfortable seat is flanked by upholstered arms with a very ... moresubdued version of the acanthus motif along the hand rest, the sides of the handholds carved with the swirl directly adopted from Louis XVI. The chairs are extremely sturdy and solid for antiques. These chairs are from the early 1900 and have been well kept for through the years. There are no visible signs of repairs or problems. They are in almost perfect condition. Especially for antiques and have heavily carved detail throughout. The chairs are extremely comfortable and strong enough to use on a daily basis. The upholstery is a gorgeous mustard crush velvet material, some of the pictures you can see the richness of the color) The chairs and upholstery look even nicer in person. The legs on the chairs were place on it by me because it was sitting to low for my comfort. The legs on this set can be removed are stained. Set of (10) Antique Cafe Bistro Chairs (Industrial Tolix Styling)
This is our LAST stack! These chairs dotted the sidewalks of cafes and outdoor bistros across Europe during the 1940's. Their industrial design was meant to endure the elements of weather. Including the holes in the seat bottoms that allow water drainage. They retain their original green paint and have been sealed to protect the beautiful finish for indoor or outdoor use. These would pair so nice with a large farm table! The chairs are steel and weigh approximately 8lbs each and can be easily stacked and stored into one tower. They are in vintage condition and the finish of each is different based on their use. As part of reconditioning. Some chairs have weld touching to reinforce any loose joints or breaks that occured over their time of use. Measurements: 34" tall x 18.5" seat x 15" deep x 13" wide.
