Three adjustable shelves come with the armoire. As with all antique armoires. Wood supports can be placed in any of the carved slots running the entire length of the piece inside. Antique Knock Down Wardrobe/Armoire....Beautiful Walnut
Pictures do not do this piece justice. This piece was purchased by my mother-in-law from Walter Cantrel in western North Carolina sometime in the 1950-60s. I would guess it is from the late 1800s or early 1900s. It is certainly custom made. The work is beautiful, the walnut on the door fronts has a beautiful grain, I could go on and on. The approx. measurements are 95" high, 52" wide, and 18" deep. The piece is made to be dismantled for easy moving.Pickup only in Hickory, NC.Thanks

This extraordinary unique piece features a very rare arched top with intricate carvings that extend down both sides and on to the feet. You can definitely tell that this particular craftsman had a deep love for his work as this armoire is truly a work of art. In my many years of collecting and researching rare antiques. I have never seen another like it. This gorgeous unit dating to the very early 1900’s was shipped to the U.S. in 2003. It measures 84” Tall by 81” wide and a full 24”deep. The center door is a full 35” wide(again. Extraordinary design) with the side cabinet doors at 20.5“ The armoire retains the original beveled glass mirrors on the face of the center cabinet and on the inside of ... moreboth of the side cabinet doors providing a panoramic view when both side doors are open. The original un-restored dark walnut finish on the exterior and burl panels highlights the blond interior. The unit shows very little signs of wear and the mirrors have the typical haze and spotting that were common of the era. All the hardware is excellent except one door pull that is in need of repair as the clasp that holds it to the door is broken. The original locks on each door are intact but I do not have the key. It can be obtained through any locksmith. This fine example of French craftsmanship breaks down for easy shipping. It is doweled as well as bolted together for a perfect fit when re-assembling and I will include assembly instructions. It is a two person job to assemble and will take approximately an hour. There will be a 150.00 crating and packaging fee that will be added to your final winning bid if you chose to have the unit shipped. The reason being. It will need a special packing crate built from scratch to protect it in transit. This wardrobe was recently imported through the UK and is particularly special with ornate carvings floral carvings alongside it's otherwise simple straight line carving and dentition on the bonnet, so prominent during the Edwardian period, as well as the original decorative metal hardware. Country French 1790 Antique Carved Armoire. 1 Door. Hand carved of fruitwood about 1790. An authentic Country French armoire has one door. The old finish is in very fine condition with glowing warm patina and just enough mars and wear for antique character. Waxed and polished. Only an occasional wipe with a soft dry cloth is needed to maintain its luster. The key is a handle only, the lock does not work and a modern magnetic latch keeps the door closed. Side panels are raised. Joints are secured with carved wooden pegs on this classic furniture from France. A hole was cut in the rough hewn back, presumably for a tv, now covered. Inside is a single later shelf, there are supports for additional shelves if desired or a closet pole could be installed. The crown lifts off for easier moving. This piece is in Dallas TX and you must come get it. This piece has gorgeous and modern detailing on the sides. Nice acorn legs, brass detailing on the locks and the bevelled mirror, original to the piece, is in great shape. This breaks down all the way into very easy to move pieces. We are pleased to offer this beautiful and functional antique armoire. This piece dates to the early 1900's and is in great condition for the age. The wardrobe body measures 34.25" wide x 16.25" deep. The crown molding at the top measures 39.75" wide x 20.25" deep. This has a single door fronted by a beveled mirror. The mirror is in good condition and there is a small area that the molding that holds it in place was replaced. This can be seen in the last photo. The inside has mounted hooks around the top. There is no rod and there are no shelves inside this unit. There is a nice deep single drawer at the base that has dove tail joints. There is a keyhole on the door and drawer but we do not have a key for this. There are age and use appropriate scratches and dings on this. When my wife and I moved in together we had to figure out how to store the wardrobe of two clothes horses. That's hard enough as it is. But we were moving into a home in the Silver Lake hills that had only ONE closet! Ouch. Our dear friends Rick& Lori came to our rescue. As a housewarming gift. They gave us this beautiful antique armoire with carved wood and inlay. Little did they know they saved our marriage. There's a full length mirror inside the door and a center hanging rod where I keep the graduation gown from when I FINALLY went back to college to complete my degree(a whole other story) We finally bit the bullet and installed a new closet. So now we must let go of this sentimental treasure. The finish has seen better days, but is still beautiful. There are a few patches where it looks like tape or adhesive dulled the finish, ... moreplus there are small scratches along the top edge. This is a gorgeous simple antique is imported from Scandinavia. The Armoire is in excellent condition. It has double doors with a key lock. All the hardware is original. Exceptional French Empire Gilt& Patinated Bronze Mounted Mahogany Armoire Probably c. 1880-1910 Item# 130408PXG26 This rare and exciting work of art from the last quarter of the 19th Century is exceptional in every way. An incredible accomplishment. The foundry work executed in this piece is above reproach- each gilt bronze mount is hand chased to the highest quality, mercury gilded and of outstanding detail. An angular and commanding work, the Armoire is surmounted by a triangular crest that is removable from the body with two dowels on either side- this is flanked by a pair of carved mahogany(replaced) finials. Beneath the projecting crown molding, an incredible gilt bronze mount of an angel riding through ocean waves in a cornucopia pulled along by swans while leaving behind a trail of shells is simply stunning. Flanking this on either ... moreside are opposing gilt bronze solider masks. The top is removable. Lifting off of large steel screws inside of the armoire to allow the door to be lifted from it's hinges for easier transportation. On either side of the door, pedestaled on large tapered columns rest large and highly impressive patinated and gilt bronze Classical female heads with bowed ribbon holding her hair back. These are the largest mounts of flawless execution we've seen on a piece from this period, each a stunning work of art in it's own merit. A hand filed steel screw secures each head to the case. Beneath the column, intense gilded Lion Paw's in the Regency manner complete the form. The arched door swings open with use of the original key. Revealing a golden oak interior of four shelves and a single locking drawer. This drawer is hand dovetailed with solid oak secondary woods, when removed revealing an illegible signature in period script along the dust board. Affixed to the top of the armoire on the inside is an old bill of lading from Lawsonia Manufacturing Company in Philadelphia, noting it's sale of an"Exist. This is an exceptional"statement piece" of furniture that can be utilized in any area of the home. A prized piece for the homeowner or interior designer. I'm sure its origin lies in Europe. Possibly the Black Forest, but I'm no expert in these matters. Its age is unknown. The piece measures 73" high from floor to center of curved top piece. 74" wide and 18" deep. Construction is with mortise and tenon and pin and post. There are NO NAILS OR SCREWS used in its construction. The top and base are each single pieces. The end pieces are also single pieces. The back is comprised of three interlocking pieces. There are two doors at either end with three shelves and base top in each. The top center door reveals a single shelf. The two smaller doors have a single shelf and base. Loads of space. Carvings: Wonderfully ... morecarved as shown with a total of six deep-carved heads. Head at top of curve measures 5 1/2" high by 4 1/2" wide by 2 1/4" deep. Head on center door measures 4 3/4" high by 4 1/2" wide by 2" deep. Heads on larger side doors are helmeted and measure 5 1/4" high by 4" wide by 2 1/4" deep. Above each are grotesque heads measuring 5 1/2" high by 4" wide by 1" deep. I doubt you'll find another like this. Item is for pick-up or freight delivery. I'll do all I can to assist in finding prices. But would hope that buyer would also look for best price.
