The doors are bowed with mythological iridescent hand painted figures of a centaur and nymphs on the sea. At the top is another painting of cherubs in the clouds. The entire piece is lined with brass moulding details and two solid brass ormolu garlands at the top. I am listing a Gorgeous Antique Washed Pine Armoire/Wardrobe with Beautiful Hand Carvings on the Doors and Moulding. It is either of Belgium or UK heritage and is Circa early 1900's. antique English dark oak art nouveau ARMOIRE ~ wardrobe ~ CLOSET with mirror Greater Chicagoland-area local pick up/delivery only(Saint Charles. IL- Far west Chicago suburbs) Up for auction: A gorgeous. Old, oak armoire, closet or wardrobe. It has a beveled-mirrored door and one drawer, offering tons of elegantly hidden storage. I believe it's English, based on its instructional tag: This Wardrobe when dismantled will pass the narrowest stairway or passage. Instructions: Unscrew cornice and plinth from inside of carcase. Hold the door. I can't be certain, but believe it likely dates to the early 1900s. I had too many photos to include one of the patent number(small tag nailed inside the drawer) which reads: PROVL.PAT.NO. 86004-20. The inside compartment has three hooks across the center back top. And one hook on each side. The drawer ... moreis dovetailed. The mirror has a simple bevel. My photos aren't the best- sorry- bad lighting. I think. It's a medium-dark oak. Beautiful! Condition: Overall. For it's age, I think it's in nice vintage condition with age-appropriate imperfections. I think it displays beautifully(and is superbly useful) By way of flaws: 1) the left side. Center, shows a split(where two oak panels meet) it bows out slightly. I don't think it's really distractive, but could probably be remedied by the handy; 2) there's a 2" x 1/2" chip on one side, near the back, relatively near the bottom- hard to see; 3) can't really see it, but the bottom skirt is angled a bit, with a small split on one side; 4) the mirror I think is totally functional and charming as is, but has spots of loss of silvering and minor imperfections; 5) in the drawer, you'll see there are wood support blocks(these came with this- I assume for the underside- that look supplementary supports) that probably could be glued into position for additional support(I haven't investigated; the closet seems fine as is) 6) the door handle has pulled a bit with a small break in the metal- still

Large vintage antique armoire wardrobe nice needs TLC LOOK
Very nice old armoire/wardrobe. I am not sure of the age. But I know I was given this as a child(around 7) and I am 40. It came from my aunt who had it for 30 years that I know of. so its possibly 70 years old? I could not find a name or mark on it anywhere.It stands 52 1/2 inches tall. The legs keep it 5 inches off the ground. The front legs are a carved design but the back ones have had blocks added to them. Not sure if they had designs too that broke off or what. It has always been like this since I have had it. Its 18 1/2 inches wide(19 1/2 if you count the decorative lip around the top) Its 37 inches across(38 if you count the lip) The doors stay shut with a little latch thing inside. The doors are 41 x 17 and 1 inch thick. Its divided inside in 2. One side is probably for hanging items, but there was never a rod in there to hang anything. ... moreThat side is 16 1/2 x 21 and 46 inches tall. The other side has 3 shelves. Top one is 14 inches across, 15 inches back to front and 15 inches tall. The middle one is 14 inches across, 15 inches back to front and 10 inches tall. The bottom one is 14 inches across, 16 inches back to front and 20 inches tall. Cool decorative features around door knobs and at top, bottom and sides. Knobs are original. It has lost some of the wood on top, sides, on door. You can see in pictures. It has been painted outside 100 times. Last time was about 12 years ago my sister and I stripped it and tried to stain it cherry. Crappy job. But if someone is really god with furniture you could get this to look brand new. Beautiful Antique Chinese Bamboo Armoire/Chest
I purchased this armoire 10 years ago at an antique faire. I was told it is from China. Age unknown. The armoire has three shelves. Its dimensions are 74.25" high, 18" deep, 35.5" wide. The doors of the upper two shelves have a latch(please see picture) which have handles decorated with old Chinese coins. The bottom shelf has two sliding doors with carved handles. The exterior is made of bamboo and wood(material unknown) There is a small imperfection on one the legs(please see picture) It was that like when I got it. Currently having several shelf papered covered shelves someone added to increase storage space, a new owner could have additional or shelves more appropriate to the age of the piece made if desired or it could simply be used for that always needed extra space to hang multiple jackets and store books, gloves, scarves and sporting equipment within a stylish yet functional old Victorian wardrobe, most recently imported from the UK through Edinburgh, Scotland. This terrific four door closet stands 86 1/2 inches tall and measures 67 1/2 inches wide by 17 inches deep. Front to back. There are a total of three brass cloak hooks around the wall in each end closet as well a three ... moreprong hook in the center plus four along the wall and two more 3 prong hook's in the large center closet, with hooks for a total of 22 coats, jackets or scarves. Three Cherubs Armoir and Headboard. These were purchased in Canada more than 20 years ago and have been in my possession since. The Armoir is large. 90 inches tall 65 inches wide and 21 inches deep. The armoir has a couple of shelves, one with a drawer. although the shelves are not the best fit. The Armoir comes apart into pieces making easy to move. The matching Three cherub head board is 60 inches wide. And stands 55 inches high. These are not in perfect condition. There is some checking of the veneer, although you would expect this from furniture manufactured probably in the 1920's or 30's. Ask any questions. I am not a dealer, just downsizing.

antique primitive grain painted armoire press cupboard dovetail mortise mustard
You are considering an antique. Grain-painted, primitive press. I have bought and sold many great pieces throught the years, and this press/wardrobe is at the top of the list. I believe it to be constructed by a very skilled furniture builder somewhere in the 1820s to 1840s. The press was built in three pieces. The base fits together with pegs attached to the original bun feet. The body was constructed with thin dovetail joints, and the center post was attached to the top and bottom of the cabinet with mortise joints. The doors are grain-painted. The door knobs have been replaced fairly recently. I may be able to located knobs closer to the period. The back of the cabinet was hand-planed unlike most. I believe there was originally three interior drawers. Sometime sixty or seventy years ago, the top drawer was replaced with two more swhallow ... moredrawers. The top is mortised to the cabinet, but is removable. I believed the top board to have been added many,many years ago, but it was not a part of the cupboard when it was originally constructed. Majestic antique armoire made by expert cabinet maker Geo. Laird& Son. Bridgeton, Glasgow, Scotland. Made of tiger wood oak with ebony inlay it has the original teardrop hardware pulls with a dogwood motif. Also a beveled glass viewing mirrror.
