Antique Scheibe-Alsbach A. Kister Porcelain Cherub vases mark from late 1880s
These beautiful German statuettes were made in Scheibe-Alsbach in the A. Kister period. They are from the late 1800's. They are truly beautiful and you will not tire of looking at them. They are cherubs with vases on a pedestal. I do not know if they were originally meant to be vases or planters but either use would be a beautiful display. One of the figures is holding a bunch of grapes and the other a wine glass. This is Art Nouveau at it's best. The form of the plump cherubs and the grapes and leaves. And even the shape of the vases themselves are natural and from the Nouveau period. The bottoms are stamped KPM and feature the X beneath these letters. This mark was used for a short period beginning in 1887.There are the numbers 1301 and 9 indented on the bottom as well, perhaps where they were to inventory them at one point or to ... moreidentify them in some fashion at the point of manufacture. This set is 108 to 126 years old and in mint condition. The cherubs are 10 1/4" H. 6 3/4" W, and on a 4" base excluding legs. This set will be shipped FedEx insured at the purchase price or more. This seems to be an extremely rare subject matter for German porcelain figurines and this is the larger size of this model. This piece has markings for the Scheibe Alsbach/Kister factory in Germany. Please excuse the reflections in the pictures. SIZE: The figurine measures approximately 20.5 inches high by 18 inches long. It weighs just under 16 pounds. CONDITION: The overall condition is excellent for such a large and delicate piece. There is a small flake to one feather on his head. A chip to the back of his cloak and the Indian's leg that faces the back of the figurine has been repaired near the calf. Up in this auction is an amazing piece of antique German bisque porcelain. Much like the English Parian ware, it is a figural group statue of Shakespeare's play The Merry Wives of Windsor, Act III, Scene III, where Falstaff surrounded by the cast finds himself in a laundry basket. It is marked underneath with the late 1800's mark for Kister Scheibe Alsbach, Thuringia, Germany Porcelain company. Marked on the side Act III Sc III and marked on the back 9178 27. Vintae Scheibe Alsbach Felix Zeh German Porcelain Statue Lady on Horse
A well made porcelain figure or statue. This was designed by the famous Felix Zeh(it is signed on the side. See photo 4) and made by Scheibe Alsbach. The blue mark on the bottom is dated from 1925-1972, this is an early piece. It measures 9" wide x 10" high. The detail in this lady with baskets riding this horse is amazing. This is NOT in perfect condition. First, the head of the horse was broken all the way off and literally just glued back on, it does not match up in all spaces. Second there is a finger broken off of the lady and lastly it appears that there should have been a leg or foot coming out from under her dress. You do not even realize it should be there until you look underneath and see the broken part. The last four pictures show the damaged areas. This is an antique 9 1/2" tall hand painted porcelain figurine of Jean Lannes. 1st Duc de Montebello, who was a Marshal of the Empire and considered to be one of Napoleon's most daring and talented generals. The figurine is in excellent condition with no chips. Cracks, or paint wear; there is a small imperfection in the glaze on the back of the cape(see photo) The words impressed in the base note the dates and important events in Lannes' life.
