This is an unusual and rare piece from cordey it is a large bowl or thrinket dish with a victorian lady bust or half doll style figurine attached to the center. It is in really good condition considering its age.there are 2 small nicks on the underneath the lip of the bowl. And arent visible from the front or top of the bowl.also minor nicks to flowers, petals, and the bow on her head.Nothing too noticable or that detracts from the beauty of this figural bowl. The numbers 7012 and146 are written on the bottom. It measures 12 inches wide. 8 inches tall, and 9 inches deep. This beautiful lady on a pedestal is 11 inches tall. She has gray ringlets and a hat. She has lace at her neck. On her sleeves and down the front of her blouse. She has a belt around her tiny waist fastened with a rose. Her underskirt features roses on a white background. Her overskirt is pink and blue. A special material formulated by Boleslaw Cybis who made gift shop items in the 1940s in Trenton, NJ. This figurine stands 6 1/2" high and 3 1/2" wide at the base. We know this setting takes place on a frozen lake or pond during a cold winters day. She wears a tall hat decorated with gold and blue ribbons and her nails are nicely painted while she keeps one hidden away in her hand warmer. It's wonderful how her scarf and hand warmer have been decoupaged in porcelain. She does not bare the Dresden Lace mark but she resembles many of their exquisite pieces. She is in good to excellent condition with a small piece missing from the back of her scarf and hand warmer. On the bottom we find"5063" along with the artists initials. This listing is for a vintage 1940's-1950's Cordey(precursor to Cybis) porcelain decorative wall plaque measuring approximately 12" x 9" with a depth of 3-1/2" flush back that adheres to wall is 8-3/4" x 5" It features a charming three-dimensional lady creating the impression that she is emerging from a pastel garden path as she steps out of the flat backdrop or frame. To me. The style appears to be French Provincial given the scrollwork and the woman's style of attire; but it could be considered Victorian/Art Nouveau or Colonial, as well. This beautifully rendered piece is in marvelous condition- I can find no chips, cracks or breaks. The white along the edges of her hat, flowers and leaves reflect the absence of paint- apparently not applied on the edges in some areas- and are not chips or damage.
