This is an adorable Victorian Courting Couple boy& girl figurine made in Italy. They are seated and he is looking down at her hand. It looks like she is about to hand him a flower. Approximately 5 inches tall to top of tree branch and 6 inches wide at widest point. Stamped on the side of the base with blue Capodimonte Crown and N mark. In great condition but there could be chips to the lace on the bottom of her skirt and some of the flowers in her basket are chipped or possibly missing. I have tried to show this in my pics. This is a Capodimonte Porcelain Figurine of a Man and Lady sitting on what might be a boulder. The man appears to be leaning over to kiss the lady. She is holding a basket of flowers. They are both barefoot and have coloring to their faces. For some reason there is a very faint light blue color around both of their eyes, have no idea why it's there must have been when the maker was painting the figurine. The toes and fingers are all intact, I don't see any chipping, cracks or repairs. The makers mark is on the bottom of the figurine, Ernst Bohne& Sons of Germany also has a similar makers mark. Courting Dancing Couple Dresden Lace Porcelain Figurines or CapoDiMonte Blue
What a beautiful couple these two fine porcelain figurines are! They are dressed in costumes from the late 1700's to early 1800's. In the European manner. He is bowing to her and she is acknowledging this attention with a slight curtsy. What is fascinating is that each has gray hair. I'd like to think of them as celebrating their 25th or maybe their 50th wedding anniversary. They have matching garments with the beautifully hand painted cobalt blue. Gold and white print. He has an overcoat in cobalt blue trimmed with gold, a lace ascot, and shoes with bows, which enrobes his waistcoat, done in the beautiful blue, gold and white handpainted print, bordered with a medium green color. A bit of the lace peeks out from his coat sleeves. His graying hair is pulled back into a ponytail and cinched with a bow. His long fingers are outstretched ... morewith palms up as if to say, Your Grace, may I have this dance? She has the large. Poufy, tiered full length Dresden lace skirt with matching lace at the cuffs of her elbow sleeve bodice. There is a tiny pink rose in her cleavage. Her hair is in an updo plaited with a lavender,white and gold hair ornament. Her graceful hands are positioned as if she is pulling up the lace in order to curtsy. Her tiny feet are in ruby slippers which have a gold colored ornament on the front of each. She, too, has tiny flowers at her feet. The gentleman is about 5" tall and he stands on a base which is about 1.75" in diameter. The Lady is almost 5.5" tall and she stands on a base that is about 2.25"x about 2" Condition: The gentleman is in excellent condition. Please have a look at the way his hands are done- you can see each finger clearly. The detail is astounding. The lady is also in generally excellent condition. The only flaws are a bit of her lace skirt. About 1/8" in diameter is missing on the top skirt on her right hand side in the back and to her left.
