Very nice empire chest ready for another 150 yrs of service. This chest dates from about 1850-60 and is all hand dove tailed and hand chamfered bottoms and side panels. We restored it back to a wonderful condition. We do the drawers inside and out also look at the backs of our furniture they are finished too. We do not skimp on anything when it come to bringing a piece back to life. These chests are near indestructible and withstand a ton of abuse, yet they are beautiful! I have for sale an antique chest of drawers/ dresser. Made of pine. It is built in the French provincial/ Swedish country style. It has five drawers. It is missing one knob. The knobs are not original. They were purchased at Anthropologie store. The chest is 50" tall. 34" wide, and 18" deep. Each drawer has inner dimension of: 27" wide. 14" deep and 7" tall. Used Bird's Eye Maple Dresser. This piece came from my grandmothers house. She was born in 1900. I don't know where she got this piece from. I used it and my son used it as a dresser. I was told it is the original mirror- it is detachable. The mirror is in excellent shape- it was in storage. The mirror easily attaches/unattached with two pieces of wood. The dresser is about 49 inches tall. The mirror about 21 inches- total height about 70 inches tall. It is 18 wide and about 30.5 inches across the front. Each drawer has a key hole. All the pulls and key holes are original. The two front little drawers are curved to match the curve of the front. The four bottom drawers are flat. It is on wheels The inside of the drawer have some pencil marking and one has black ink spilled The worst part of the veneer is the bottom drawer top right ... morecorner- zoom in and you can see it. Notice the joints that connect the drawer. My research shows it is a knapp joint. Used between 1871 and 1905. I have more photos if you want. Non-smoking home. There is very little metal on this piece and what is there is confined to square nails which points to the piece as having been made in the country(we believe upper middle South Carolina perhaps western North Carolina) Pulls are wood and held in place with one square nail each with the exception of one pull which is wedged in place with a shim of wood. Had the cabinet maker been closer to town he would likely have purchased brass pulls. The drawers are tight with interiors painted with yellow buttermilk ... morepaint. Top has becomed stained over the years. Joints about the cabinet are a little loose but could be easily tightened with the appropriate glue which I may do. Time permitting. Chest measures 43 inches tall x 41.5 inches wide x 19 1/8 deep. Finish is original. Piece was acquired at an estate sale a little west of Fayetteville. NC. Piece is a little grimy/ untouched.would be perfect"as is" in the right place. if not your mountain/ lake cabin- perhaps a house museum. Rare to find such an early piece in this condition. Antique Georgian Figured Walnut Chest of Drawers(Click to Enlarge) This antique chest of drawers featured a lovely figured veneer believed to be walnut. Measures 44" high by 44.5" wide by 20.5" deep. Round figured knobs appear to be original. Drawers have hand-cut lap dovetails and cockbeading of the type brought into use starting in the 1770s. Overall condition is excellent. There is a chip approximately 1" long from the veneer along the front right edge. Which no doubt can be easily repaired by a professional. Overall condition of the veneer is excellent, but there is some buckling on the left side of the piece, consistent with its age. Bottom features bracketed feet and an elegant shaped skirt on front and sides. antique empire flame mahogany vanity dresser carved!!!!
layaway available on any of my listings should anyone have an interest in that. up for auction is the nicest empire vanity i have seen in all the years i have been messing with antiques. i bought this not long ago and have it in my dining room as there is no where else to put it in my 20 room house. i have another one in a bedroom upstairs that i will list shortly. hopefully it will sell and not this one as i want to actually keep this one. anyway. I have seen a dozen or so of these, but none this nice. it is serpentine, heavily carved mirror harp, pedestal, feet and wings, along with carved roping surrounding the vanity top. the mirror shows some fog, which does not bother me, i can have that corrected for about 100.00 should someone want that accomplished. it is free from damage or repairs as far as i can ascertain. i think the knobs on ... morethe two serpentine drawers are original as well. this is a wonderful empire piece made around 1860 or so i think out of the most wonderful flame mahogany as you will find. the piece has wonderful patina and is gorgeous. the pictures do not do it justice. it stands 49.5 to the top of the mirror, it is about 30 inches to the vanity top and 22 inches deep at the widest point of the serpentine top. it is 44 inches wide at the back of the top and 38 inches wide at the front of the top. shipping will be the buyers responsibility. you may arrange a carrier, or i will do it for you, or you may pick it up at my home. if the carrier requires a crate, i will build it for the cost of the material and will not charge any labor. the material will cost about 50.00 for the crate, if required. i need to sell one of these vanities, don't have room for both. i am starting this at probably all it is worth, but if you want the best, this is for you! i bought it because it was the nicest one i have seen in years and years. i doubt you can find another one like it, and if so, it will be expensive. i will be glad to answer any questions or supply other pictures upon request. good luck

Antique Victorian Aesthetic walnut 5 drw chest w/pull out shelf
Offered for auction is this very nice circa 1870's-1880's AestheticWalnut Victorian chest of drawers. The chest is a very nice small size. 38" t x 30" w x 19" d. It has 5 graduated drawers and under the top drawer is a pull out flat shelf for writing or folding clothes(see pic 4) The front stiles have nice Aesthetic carvings at the top and the sides are recessed rectangular panels surrounded by molding. Plinth base and raised on casters. The stamped brass bail handles and backplates have a wonderful scenic design. The top has been used a lot so will need to be cleaned up and maybe even refinished due to all the scraping and scratches. But still is useable and functional. Scratches, dings, etc consistent with age and use.

Antique Victorian Walnut Drop Well Dresser w/ Marble Tops Ornate Hand Carving
We are pleased to offer to the market this beautiful antique drop well dresser. Constructed from walnut. This piece is ornately carved. The piece stands 91.5" high at the center of the mirror. The base is 44.5" wide at the bottom and 44" wide at the top of the drawers. It has an overall depth of 18 1/8" and the height of the center well is 16 5/8" The hardware on this has been replaced but still matches quite well. The pulls all have lion faces on them. The marble slabs that sit on the top of the drawers have a space that is approximately 1/2 an inch on each side where the wood shows. I am unsure as to whether these pieces were replaced or not. The slab of marble that sits on top of the well fits snugly and appears to be original to the piece. There are"wings" that attach on each side of the mirror that ... morehave attached candle stands on the front. These also have ornate carving on them. The mirror has beveled glass and is in good condition. There are some age separation cracks on the side panels and there is also a crack on the inside panel on the left side. There are some light surface scratches on the bun feet and base from use and most likely from a vacuum cleaner. This is a previously owned item and it is being sold as shown. French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Marble Top Commode Chest of Drawers Cabinet
French Louis XVI Style Marquetry Inlaid Demilune Marble Topped Commode Early 20th Century Item# 130008LWP26 Simply gorgeous and perfectly preserved in every way. This fine French Louis XVI Style Commode is simply above reproach. At least a century after being crafted entirely by hand, the commode remains in nearly identical condition to when it left the shop. Clearly maintained in a home that cared for it and kept humidity at a stable level throughout it's life, the piece does not display the typical issues commonly associated with these heavily inlaid works of art. The mixed stone brèche d'Alep top is a wonderful variated surface. Full of color and activity, completed with a thin molded channel around the edge of the demilune form. The facade is a mix of five drawers and two cabinet doors; the top drawer is broad with crossbanded ... moreveneers framed in olivewood stringer inlay. It rests over a pair of drawers with a continuous inlaid image of a vase overflowing with flowers and foliage, hanging from a bow-tied ribbon draped on the keyhole escutcheon over a cross banded ground and framed in the same stepped rectangular olivewood stringer inlay that completes each drawer and door. The inlay is incredible intricate. And remarkably there is no peeling or lifting along the edges of this veneer, as typically happens when the piece is stored in an environment with poorly controlled temperature and humidity. On either side of the cabinet, small drawers swing outwards over the cabinet doors, these hand dovetailed at the back of each. The cabinet space is divided with a single shelf. The entire commode rests over turned and tapered legs that are topped and terminated in brass mounts. This is an outstanding find for any collector of French Louis XV and XVI antique furniture. Specifically if you seek out utmost quality in your furnishings. This state of preservation is difficult to find and is highly desirable by collectors and decorators alike. Spectacular"Highly Figured Solid Maple" Chest of Drawers Circa 1895 I fully restored this lovely piece.It features incredible"highly figured" solid maple with Birdseye maple veneers on the oxbow top drawer fronts. All of the brass hardware. Including the key hole covers are original.As you can see the hardware is the icing on this cake! The original drawer locks are all in place and in excellent working order using the beautiful key I had made. The top of the dresser has incredible patina and some of the finest grain figuring you will see.The top is first class all the way. All drawers were totally rebuilt and slide like silk. The drawers feature the highly sought after dovetail joinery. I restored the finish all by hand using a custom rich stain to achieve the highlighted rich burgundy followed by many. Many coats of ... morehand rubbed varnish.When you rub your hands over the finish you will feel the superb depth and notice the beauty of the amazing maple grains. This is a"bonnet top" dresser meaning the top two drawers protrude and overhand the lower level drawers. The sides have great architectural design with the paneled construction. Like any fine antique. This piece has minor imperfections and character marks in the wood. The posts which hold the drawer handle in place are brass plated steel, some of the plating has worn off after 135 plus years. The photos show casters in the legs. Early American Antique Dresser Chest Drawers Country Colonial Furniture 1875
An American made classic. beautiful solid cherry wood chest of drawers.this dates from Circa 1875 This piece dates from the Colonial Revival period. I restore antique and make custom furniture. I rescued this gorgeous chest. It was on it's way to a landfill, buried beneath a dark brown paint.I was intirgued by it's design, but I fell in love with this piece when I saw the stunning wood grains hidden under the brown paint. The wood is solid cherry with wonderful, rich grains and textures. Some parts of this chest may be red birch or maple.The cherry wood is both sapwood and heartwood. This accounts for the varied colors and grain patterns, in this beautiful chest The side panels are cherry veneered plywood.I love the blackened grain highlights on the side panels. The wood has many beauty marks including a small age related crack(non-structural) ... morein the top left edge(see photo) I think it adds great charm to the piece. Just like the nails across the top drawer where someone added a piece of wood to the top edge of the drawer(see photo) I think the top drawer edge looks awesome with the exposed nails and the wonderful colors.The"eye brow" shaped drawer pulls are all original. You won't find more beautiful and unique solid cherry wood pulls, the grain patterns are superb. I restored this chest from top to bottom. Including all of the drawers being taken fully apart and restored. I added a wood reinforcement strip in the back of one drawer. the drawers feature dovetail joinery on the front corners with box joinery on the rear corners.I custom added the trim(solid maple) on the bottom edge of the side panels I restored the entire finish by hand scraping, followed by many, many coats of hand rubbed varnish.The top drawer has a lock,without a key.This lovely chest has hard earned beauty marks such as nicks, dings etc, consistent with any fine antique. As well as rounded tiger oak drawer and cabinet door in the center of the front. The cabinets to the left and right have carvings that accent the piece. There is a larger drawer below that runs the width of the piece. CONDITION It is in great condition for its age. But does show signs of normal age related wear. It features 4 drawers on each side and a long drawer in the middle that sits just under a large almost floor length mirror. The top of the mirror features beautiful carved trim work and a carved finial. The drawers still have the original hardware and all but two of the drawers can still be locked and will come with the key as well. Scrolled gallery and accoutrements. It has clean crisp lines and smartly turned legs. The chest has great structural integrity and sap wood graining running down its center making for a pleasant aesthetic affect. The original finish and surface on this chest has everything you want to see in a fine period piece. It has had a small restoration splice on its bottom left side of the drawer and we will address the lack escutcheon plates with your input. There is truly only one correct version for this style of chest and we are certain we have several nice sets in our restoration hardware collection.
